iLab 6 of 7: Task Constraints and Baselines
General Comments about the Microsoft Project Exercises
Sometimes certain tasks must be constrained by dates, rather than only by the
predecessors. For example, the Independence Day holiday is not dependent
upon us getting our BBQ ready and buying fireworks (predecessor tasks) but by
the fact that this holiday MUST occur on July 4. Once we have determined what
these constraints are, we can set our project baseline and be ready to complete
work on our project. To finalize our project plan in order to begin work, we will:
Use constraints to set date limitations. Set a project baseline schedule.
Guidelines
Complete Lesson 6. Print the Constraints Table. (Include all columns of the
table.) Print the Project Summary Report.
Deliverables
All of the following deliverables are required (in a zip file) to receive full credit:
Completed MyLab6_XXX.mpp Completed Review Questions
Printouts/Screenshots contained in Week_6_Printouts_XXX.docx
When submitting required printouts (if you are not bringing them to class), take a
screenshot (in Windows <ALT><PrtScr>) of the report from the Print Preview
page and paste the screenshot to an MS Word Document. Make sure to crop the
screen to show only the report. After cropping, resize the image appropriately. If
the printout is on more than one page, paste each page individually.
Save the Word document containing printouts as Week_6_Printouts_XXX.docx,
and submit this file to the Week 6 iLabDropbox in a zip file along with the
MyLab6_XXX.mpp file and the completed Review Questions at the end of Lesson
2. 6. Remember to replace "XXX" in all the file names with your initials, and ensure
that all of your files are clearly labeled.
