The most probable magazine that is similar to my product is Kerrang! Magazine which is owned by Bauer Media Group.
However, there could possibly be an opening as my product is solely Alternative Rock which is quite different from the “Scene
Rock” that Kerrang! seems to feature a lot of. So, with the selling of more niche magazines, along with other magazines (i.e.
Q), it will create a much wider range of products for the audience.
Why would they distribute?

Bauer Media Group already distribute Kerrang which is predominately for Rock/Pop
music which together with their TV music channel and radio channel too, they reach a
much wider audience with the same product.
As Kerrang has a similar target audience to my product, I feel that Bauer Media Group
would profit from my magazine as the audience that follows Kerrang may also be
interested in a different, slightly more niche magazine solely for Alternative Rock music.
As the genre of the content is slightly different, this means that there is a less likely
chance of content being the same over both magazines. Also, Bauer may be interested
in distributing my magazine as it follows similar codes and conventions, meaning that it
may look similar to products they already sell.
Also, with the use of platforms for magazines they currently sell like Kerrang, Q and
Empire, my product will be able to be sold in places like supermarkets, newsagents and
online etc.
How will it be advertised/distributed?

As my product is only a magazine currently, there is more a chance of it being
advertised in similar fashions to how Bauer currently advertise its magazines like
Kerrang, through its radio/TV channels and also on social networking sites like
Facebook, Twitter etc as there will be a large audience that view all of these at some
point or another.
It would be advantageous to use social networking sites as they are cheap and
effective by reaching my target audience (young generations who are very likely to
consistently use such sites).

As most magazines are sold in shops like newsagents and supermarkets, I feel this is
how my magazine should be sold also.
However, with the convergence of media online, I think that my magazine should be
sold online too with its own website to go with the brand Alt-R.
I think that with the use of social networking sites like Twitter, the brand Alt-R can
offer extra content through these sites so the target audience can subscribe to it.
