It has been discovered that significant process improvement are obtained if the phenol feed to the reaction is vaporized in the absence of substantial amounts of ammonia.

  1. 1. A process for preparing aniline by direct amination of phenol with ammonia in the vapor phase in the presence of a solid, heterogeneous catalyst. It has been discovered that significant process improvement are obtained if the phenol feed to the reaction is vaporized in the absence of substantial amounts of ammonia. • To Design a steady state plant for the production of Aniline by Halcon process • To propose a method for the production that gives maximum yield meet the demand of Aniline in Pakistan. • Optimizing a process that provides sustainable development PRODUCTION OF ANILINE FROM AMMONYLSIS OF PHENOL PROJECT ADVISOR: MR. UMAIR ASLAM 1. The process is divided into feed preparation, reactor and purification. 2. For the preparation of feed, both phenol and ammonia are vaporized by two streams i.e. effluent stream and external heat source. 3. After achieving reactor required temperature, mixed streams are fed to adiabatic fluidized bed reactor where reaction takes place and by ammonylsis of phenol aniline formed. 4. Through side reactions, Diphenylamine and water are produced with considerable amounts of unreacted Ammonia& Phenol. 5. After cooling the product stream, NH3 is separated through knockout drum and effluent stream is then fed to dehydration unit where water is also removed. 6. Phenol-Aniline is then introduced in Azeotropic distillation from where 99.9% pure Aniline is recovered from top of distillation column.
