FlyPort in Home Automation <br />Home automation is cool, but too expensive in our opinion and we think it will become cheap with the Open Source. This word has now become synonymous with technology, comfort, wellness and cost savings for our home. An automated house is, first of all, a modern house, designed with open and innovative criteria to the future.Home automation. Why?<br />It's important to understand how an automated home does not need many more equipment than a traditional one, it has not a greater complexity. Selecting suitable electrical components so they can talk to each other through a common communication language, in fact, the "classics" devices - such as buttons, sensors, thermostats, lighting, actuators, etc - become able to perform tasks more integrated and "intelligent", which mean greater comfort, optimize energy consumption, safety and ease of use. Let's see some examples of issues that can be commonly managed by a home automation system:<br />- Lighting<br />- Temperature control and air conditioning<br />- Motorizations: openings gaps, curtains/motorized blinds, skylight <br />- Security: video surveillance, burglar alarm, smoke/fire/flood/gas detection, automatic voltage recovery.<br />- Access control- Biocompatibility and biocomfort- Comfort of the rooms and monitoring/optimization of the energy consumption- Telephony and communications with the outside<br />They talk about it for some time on websites, blogs and magazines, and finally today the home automation open source is a reality. There is also, home automation over IP, home automation DYI (low cost), integration with VoIP and media center.<br />The market for the open source applications is growing exponentially thanks to the success of the cooperative development model, and especially thanks to the quality and strength of the offered solutions.<br />A wide range of wireless applications can be easily developed and run on Flyport with openPicus IDE, and no Wi-Fi expertise is required. The IDE allows to focus on application as openPicus framework (which is based on freeRTOS) manages the Wireless stack and its events.We received a video from a French company, Apsi, about a new application with FlyPort, the Wi-Fi compact programmable module. As you will see from the video, the natural home automation interface will be a tablet or a smartphone, iPad in this case, and the communication is Wi-Fi.<br />It's a simple system to control a gate (open/close) with also a Camera. The big advantage of home automation over IP is that you can control your house potentially by any connected device to the internet, everywhere!
