5. The medical aesthetics industry is undergoing a
revolution in 2023, driven by technological
advancements and shifting consumer attitudes
toward cosmetic treatments. These changes are having a
significant impact on the industry, with a range of new
products and techniques emerging that are reshaping the
way that patients approach aesthetic procedures.
A greater focus on non-invasive and minimally invasive
treatments is one of the key impacts of this revolution.
Patients are increasingly looking for treatments that require
less downtime and have fewer side effects, and as a result,
companies are developing products that can deliver results
without the need for surgery. For example, injectable
treatments like Botox and dermal fillers are becoming more
popular, as are non-surgical facelifts and body contouring
treatments that use devices like lasers and radiofrequency.
Another impact of the revolution in the medical aesthetics
industry is a greater emphasis on customization and
personalization. Patients are looking for treatments that are
tailored to their individual needs and goals, and companies
are responding by developing products that can be
customized to each patient's unique anatomy and aesthetic
preferences. For example, new dermal fillers are being
developed that can be used to contour specific areas of the
face, while neuromodulators are being formulated to
provide more natural-looking results.
The revolution in the medical aesthetics industry is also
having an impact on the way that patients approach
aesthetic treatments. In the past, there was often a stigma
attached to cosmetic procedures, but today, more and more
people are embracing the idea of using these treatments to
enhance their appearance and improve their self-confidence.
This is driving growth in the industry, as more patients seek
out treatments that can help them achieve their aesthetic
goals.

Brett Elliott, General Manager at CUTERA highlights the
growing need for medical aesthetics in recent years. He
says, "With society and technology evolving, I like to
believe that non-surgical medical aesthetics can be
leveraged as a lever to help restore and maintain one's
natural beauty, increase confidence and self-esteem, and
maybe just have some form of positive impact on mental
health, which is an increasingly alarming issue for society
in recent times."
Thus, CUTERA, in partnership with physicians, offers a
full suite of treatment options to help meet your patient's
needs. From vascular conditions to pigmentation, tattoo and
body sculpting, CUTERA provides tailored solutions with
its best-in-class devices that are exquisitely engineered to

In addition, while technology is undeniably a core aspect of
growth within the industry of medical aesthetics, it is the
customers' success that determines the value of a service.
CUTERA has taken this principle seriously. The company
prioritizes customer service over having great technology,
by investing in recruiting people who can support its
customers in their journey to success. Functioning on such a
value is what makes CUTERA deserving of the title, "Top 5

Nutrition
to Save the NHS
s food prices soar in Britain, thousands are
Astruggling to feed themselves and their families.
The cost-of-living crisis in the UK has meant that
many children of low-income families are eating cheaper
food, smaller portions and sometimes sleeping hungry.
Food charities, food banks and other helplines are
inundated with queries related to the regular supply of food.
London-based food charity The Akshaya Patra
Foundation UK (TAPF), reports a 15% increase in
enquiries since August 2022, just after they concluded their
summer food service when they offered over 70,000 meals
in various holiday clubs in London. The beneficiaries are
mostly children from low-income families.
8-year-old Prodip Kumar (name-changed), a student at
Dormers Wells School in Ealing in West London is fidgety.
He looks anxious for a break at school. On the other side of
the break is a hot meal, filled with cheese and vegetables,
awaiting him. ''My name is Prodip, I am 8 years old. My
favorite meal is mac and cheese. It is tasty and full of flavor.
When I eat food, it makes me feel full. And I want to eat
more." The meals are served by The Akshaya Patra
Foundation UK, as part of a special initiative by the school
to help out low-income families dealing with rising costs.
"We need solutions that are cost-effective. These meals by
Akshaya Patra are cheap – a hot meal with fruit and
vegetables for under £3. The portion sizes are good, and
many children like to take some food home, maybe for their
parents to eat. The food is vegetarian and that feels kind to
the earth too.'' Said Rabia Cornelius, Pupil and Family
worker at Dormers Wells Junior School in Ealing.
Tackling Hunger & Malnourishment Together—The
Akshaya Patra Way!
While charities, food banks and other organizations are
stretched offering support by sharing food, often the
thought of what is being fed is neglected. Packaged food
from tins, cans are better than suffering hunger. However,
nutritionists warn that children consuming highly processed
foods, and food so high in salts and sugars over a long
period of time can actually be heading to another problem –
malnourishment. The spike in illnesses in children over the
years has burdened the National Health Scheme in the UK.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation UK have been thought
leaders in tackling Hunger and Malnourishment together at
the same time. The charity has a legacy of over 23 years in
India, where it serves over 2 million children, daily. These
meals are hot, nourishing and vegetarian. With their state-
of-the-art kitchen, they can produce freshly cooked food at
speed and at scale. The charity launched its first
international kitchen in the UK in October 2020. Their
fully-steel sustainable kitchen has been donated by
philanthropist organization GMSP Foundation. It is the
largest of its kind and can cook up to 8,000 meals in 3
hours.

19. The flagship program is aptly titled Nourish to Flourish
thus far already served over 650,000 hot, nutritious,
vegetarian meals to children at London schools, holiday
clubs and community centres. "Hunger knows no
nationality or background. It is a recurring problem – 3
times each day. And if we ignore our children, we are
putting our own future at stake. These children will be our
leaders tomorrow – we must collaboratively feed them and
feed them right. So, we use best practices to try and
mitigate the problem, as best as we can. We'd love to serve
children at schools as well. All children can afford a meal
too. Because our meals are healthy, cooked specially for
children who wish to learn. And learning at that age does
not need food loaded with hormones, processed flours and
preservatives. They need to eat at school like they eat at
home." Said Bhawani Shekhawat, CEO at The Akshaya
Patra Foundation UK.
There are more than 3 million children suffering from
hunger in the UK. Of them, nearly 800,000 children are in
London alone.

21. Medical
Aesthetics
The Ethics of
There is a growing need for ethics in the field of
medical aesthetics. As cosmetic procedures become
more popular and accessible, several ethical
concerns must be addressed in order to ensure that patients
receive safe, effective and ethical care.
One of the main ethical concerns in medical aesthetics is
the issue of informed consent. Patients must be fully
informed about the risks and benefits of a particular
procedure, as well as any alternative treatments that may be
available. They should also be made aware of the
qualifications and experience of the practitioner who will be
performing the procedure. Without this information,
patients may be coerced into undergoing a treatment they
do not fully understand or that may not be in their best
interests.
By promoting informed consent, respecting patient
autonomy and addressing issues related to access and
equity, medical professionals can help to ensure that
cosmetic procedures are performed in a manner that is safe,
effective and ethical.
Balancing Beauty and Health
19| April 2023|www.insightscare.com
22. Let’s peek into the core ethics of medical aesthetics which
are as follows:
Respect for Patient Autonomy as Ethics of Medical
Aesthetics
Respect for patient autonomy is a crucial ethical principle
in the field of medical aesthetics. Patients have the right to
make their own decisions about their bodies, including
whether or not to undergo cosmetic procedures. Medical
professionals have a responsibility to respect these
decisions and ensure that patients are fully informed about
the risks and benefits of any treatment.
In addition to respecting patient autonomy, medical
professionals in the field of medical aesthetics should also
be mindful of issues related to social justice and equity.
Access to cosmetic procedures can be limited by factors
such as cost and geography, and medical professionals
should work to ensure that all patients have equal access to
these treatments. This may involve developing new models
of care that are more accessible and affordable, as well as
advocating for policies that promote equity and fairness in
healthcare.
Beneficence as Ethics of Medical Aesthetics
Beneficence is another important ethical principle in the
field of medical aesthetics. This principle requires medical
professionals to act in the best interests of their patients and
to promote their well-being. In the context of medical
aesthetics, this means that medical professionals should
only recommend and perform cosmetic procedures that are
safe, effective and beneficial to the patient.
Medical professionals have a responsibility to carefully
evaluate each patient's individual needs and goals and to
recommend treatments that are appropriate for their
particular situation. This may involve taking into account
factors such as the patient's age, medical history and overall
health status.
Non-Maleficence as Ethics of Medical Aesthetics
Medical aesthetics encompasses a wide range of
procedures, including injectables, laser treatments and
cosmetic surgery. These procedures can carry risks, ranging
from minor discomfort to severe complications, such as
infection, scarring, or even death. Therefore, medical
aesthetics practitioners must prioritize the principle of non-
maleficence to ensure that their patients are not harmed.
One way that medical aesthetics practitioners can uphold
the principle of non-maleficence is by carefully assessing
their patients' medical history and current health status
before recommending any procedures. This ensures that
patients are not exposed to unnecessary risks or
complications that may arise from pre-existing medical
conditions.
Justice as Ethics of Medical Aesthetics
Justice is an ethical principle that is concerned with fairness
and equality. In the field of medical aesthetics, justice can
be seen as an ethical obligation to provide equal access to
medical aesthetics procedures and ensure that all patients
receive fair and equal treatment.
One aspect of justice in medical aesthetics is ensuring that
all patients have equal access to procedures, regardless of
their socioeconomic status. Medical aesthetics procedures
can be expensive, which can create a barrier for some
patients who may not be able to afford the treatments.
Another aspect of justice in medical aesthetics is ensuring
that all patients are treated fairly and equally. This means
that practitioners should not discriminate against patients
based on their race, gender, age, or any other personal
characteristic. All patients should receive the same level of
care and attention, and their individual needs and concerns
should be addressed with respect and dignity.
Takeaway: The Ethics That One Should Know When
Using Medical Aesthetics
In conclusion, while medical aesthetics can offer patients a
range of benefits, it is important to consider the ethical
implications of these procedures. Patients must be fully
informed and empowered to make their own decisions,
without pressure to conform to societal beauty standards.
Additionally, access to these procedures must be equitable
and inclusive, so that all patients have the opportunity to
benefit from them if they so choose.

Our technological principle is simple,
though sophisticated: liquids, e.g.,
saline, vitamins, skin nutrients, etc. are
accelerated using pressurized air to
high velocities by means of a unique
non-contact handpiece-nozzle. It
breaks the accelerated liquid and air

What is your opinion on the impact
of the current pandemic on the
global healthcare sector, and what
challenges did you face during the
initial phase of the pandemic?
The current pandemic, which in my
view is here to stay, brings with it a
need to change current customer and
patient service paradigms. The term
'retailicine' (retail + medicine) will
become more acceptable to both the
medical profession and the general
public, which will increasingly depend
on easily accessible medical services in
locations, such as retail outlets,
previously considered not suited to the
provision of medical services.
This will bring with it the expansion of
'quasi-medical' services, which will be
offered by paramedical service and
healthcare providers and will lead to
renewed regulatory provisions suited to
a more socially distanced society
within a decentralized and highly
fragmented medical sector.
With continuous development in
technologies such as AI and big data,
what is your prediction about the
future of the healthcare sector
pertaining to the medical aesthetics
vertical?
In the same way as AI and big data are
influencing dermatology in enhancing
diagnosis and prediction, so will this
eventually become accessible to
medical, retail, and aesthetics. As the
dermatology knowledge base grows,
and advanced technology becomes
more accessible and cheaper, so will

business category more accessible,
affordable and available to wider
consumer segments.
As an established leader, what would
be your advice to budding
entrepreneurs and enthusiasts
aspiring to venture into the medical
aesthetics industry?
Since medical aesthetics is probably
one of the most attractive sub-
segments within the gigantic wellness
industry, there is no doubt that it will
be an area of focus for both
entrepreneurial efforts and investment
funds.
As in any entrepreneurial enterprise,
both perseverance and flexibility are
vital, but perhaps more so in medical
aesthetics than in other industries.
Perseverance, since it takes a long time
to establish a convincing evidence-
based proposition and flexibility since
by the time such an evidence-based
proposition is established there is a
high probability that the fast-changing
regulatory and competitive
environments will be different from
what they were at the start of the
venture, therefore, necessitating
adaptations.
How do you envision scaling your
company's operations and offerings
in 2023?
We are currently active in major global
markets such as the USA, China and
Europe. Despite widespread
availability in major markets, one of
our growth engines is expanded
geographic coverage, and over the next
12 months, we aim to become active
via third-party distributors in new
regional markets in South and Central
America, the Middle East, East Europe
and APAC.
In addition, R&D investments are
coming to fruition, and within the next
24 months, we will launch several
innovative additions to our current
offering. In order to meet the expected
growth, we have recently made a
significant investment in a new state-
of-the-art manufacturing plant that
became operational during 2020 and
significantly increased production
capacity while enabling us to meet the
strictest medical device quality and
regulatory requirements.

The Impact of
on the Medical
Aesthetics Market
In recent years, social media has become an integral
part of our daily lives. People use social media
platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and
TikTok to connect with each other, share their thoughts and
opinions, and discover new trends and products. The
medical aesthetics market has not been immune to the
impact of social media, and in this article, we will explore
the ways in which social media has influenced the industry.
The medical aesthetics market includes a range of cosmetic
treatments and procedures that are designed to improve a
person's appearance. This includes non-invasive treatments
like Botox, dermal fillers, and chemical peels, as well as
surgical procedures like liposuction, breast augmentation
and rhinoplasty. The medical aesthetics market is a rapidly
growing industry, with a global market size of $16.3 billion
in 2020, and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10.8% from
2021 to 2028.
Social media has had a significant impact on the medical
aesthetics market in several ways. Not only has it made
medical aesthetic treatments more accessible to a broader
audience but also has led to an increase in its demand. In
The Power of Influence
32. the past, these treatments were often only available to the
wealthy or those with high social status. However, social
media has made it possible for people from all walks of life
to learn about and consider these treatments. Influencers
and celebrities with large followings share their experiences
with these treatments, making them more appealing and
accessible to the general public. Secondly, social media has
led to an increase in demand for certain treatments and
procedures. For example, the "Instagram face" trend, which
features plump lips, defined cheekbones, and a straight
nose, has become increasingly popular due to the influence
of social media. This trend has led to a surge in demand for
treatments like dermal fillers and rhinoplasty.
It has made it easier for people to research and choose
medical aesthetics providers. Social media platforms allow
people to read reviews, view before and after photos, and
learn more about the qualifications and experience of
practitioners. This increased transparency has made it easier
for people to make informed decisions about which
provider to choose.
Let's take a closer look at some of the ways social media
has influenced the industry:
Increased Awareness
Social media has played a significant role in increasing
awareness about medical aesthetic treatments. Influencers
and celebrities on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms
frequently share their before and after photos and discuss
their experiences with various treatments, making it easier
for people to learn about the options available to them. This
increased awareness has led to more people considering and
seeking out these treatments.
More Accessible Information
In addition to influencers and celebrities sharing their
experiences, social media has also made it easier for people
to access information about medical aesthetic treatments.
Medical professionals and clinics can share educational
content about treatments and procedures, helping people
make more informed decisions about whether a particular
treatment is right for them.
Rising Popularity of "Instagram Face"
One of the most significant impacts of social media on the
medical aesthetics market has been the rise of the
"Instagram face" trend. This look typically involves full,
plump lips, defined cheekbones, a straight nose and a
smooth complexion. Influencers and celebrities with this
look often have a large following on social media, which
has led to an increase in demand for treatments like dermal
fillers, Botox and rhinoplasty.
Increased Competition
Social media has also increased competition in the medical
aesthetics market. With more people aware of the
treatments available, there has been an influx of new clinics
and practitioners offering these services. This has made it
more important than ever for clinics to differentiate
themselves and stand out in a crowded market.
Increased Emphasis on Results
Finally, social media has placed a greater emphasis on the
results of medical aesthetic treatments. Patients are more
likely to share their before and after photos on social media,
and clinics are under increased pressure to deliver results
that are both noticeable and natural-looking.
Conclusion
In conclusion, social media has had a significant impact on
the medical aesthetics market, increasing awareness,
making information more accessible, and driving the
popularity of certain treatments and trends. While there are
certainly benefits to this increased visibility, there are also
challenges, such as increased competition and pressure to
deliver results. As the industry continues to grow and
evolve, it will be interesting to see how social media
continues to shape the medical aesthetics market.

35. There are numerous weight-loss tips
available on the internet, some of
which have not been clinically
validated. We will discuss a few tips that will
help you lose weight naturally.
Due to a lack of time to exercise and
enthusiasm to keep going, weight reduction
can be stressful and annoying at times. Some
people choose intermittent fasting to reduce
weight, but you don't need to starve yourself
because you may end up hurting yourself
instead of helping yourself.
Many people have been left frustrated in their
attempts to find a quick fix solution to their
weight concerns. Some people have become
depressed as a result of this. Some people
have gained weight as a result of childbirth,
and have been battling to keep it under
control since childbirth. However, it seems
their weight loss strategies don’t work.
Also, some people in a bid to get a quick
solution to weight loss end up taking harmful
weight loss products.
You should know that there are ways to lose
weight without starving or using dangerous
substances that could harm your health in the
long run. Exercising, keeping track of
calories consumed and lowering
carbohydrate intake are all options that
work.
If you're seeking ways to lose weight at home
without stress or exercise, here's a guide that
can help:
Maintaining weight loss requires sufficient, good
quality sleep. Sleep deprivation will impact your
weight loss journey negatively. When you don't get
enough sleep, you tend to stay up for longer periods,
which impacts the hormone called cortisol, causing
the hormone to be released in larger quantities.
Cortisol stimulates carbohydrate and fat
metabolism, which in turn increases your appetite
and craving for food. You might be inclined to eat
unhealthy foods, which increases your calorie
intake. You should be cautious of the time you go to
bed. The less sleep you get, the more weight you
may gain.
You should make an effort to establish a bedtime
and wake-up routine; National Sleep Foundation
guidelines advise that healthy adults need between 7
and 9 hours of sleep per night. Getting enough sleep
will help you in losing weight at home without
exercising while lack of it can slow down your
weight loss journey even if you are on a restricted-
calorie diet.

36. Water is essential for life. It makes up to 60% of
our body. A substantial part of our blood is also
made up of water. This is the reason why water is
important in our everyday life. If you are still
wondering why water is that important, you must
know that the body makes use of water to flush out
wastes and regulate body temperature.
According to 2018 research published in the
Journal of American Dietetic Association, they
found that 30 minutes before breakfast reduced the
number of calories consumed.
Drinking water before a meal makes you stay
hydrated and your stomach fuller. Replace calorie-
loaded drinks with water, you will see a drastic
change over time.
Using this tip may not give you the desired weight
loss result immediately, but over time you will
likely see the desired result you have been craving
for. Your body will also have you to thank because
it will function more optimally when hydrated.
Losing weight can be challenging, but not
impossible. It requires deliberate effort and
motivation to achieve your dream body.
Obesity is associated with hormone imbalance
which is a result of overeating and lack of
exercise. In order to combat overeating, it's
required you change your dinner plate to a
smaller size just to adjust the amount of food you
consume in a sitting. People tend to reduce their
portions based on the size of the plate.
Research from Cornell University shows that
switching from an 11-inch dinner plate to a 10-
inch plate causes people to serve themselves less
food. Eating with a bigger-sized plate often
tempts you to eat larger food portions, because
the larger the plate, the bigger the food portion
you dish out. You can try this out in your
subsequent meals and see how it works for you.
Green tea is made from tea leaves which have some
nutritional benefits and are rich in antioxidants. Green tea
contains a flavonoid called catechin, which is an antioxidant.
Green tea has been associated with weight loss for a long
time. Most weight loss supplements have green tea in their
ingredients to help lose weight. Green tea enhances
metabolism which is the process by which the body converts
food and drink into usable energy. Take 2-3 cups of green tea
daily for a desired fat-burning result.

values that help the body stay nourished and
healthy. Vegetables and fruits are rich in fiber and
some other nutrients which makes them the best
option for weight loss and helps lower the risk of
diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and heart
disease.
The naturally sweet taste of some fruits helps to
reduce sugar cravings or junk in some people which
in turn helps to keep weight in check. Some fruits
also contain lots of water which makes the stomach
fuller and reduces food consumption. Fruits like
watermelon, pineapple, apple, grape, cucumber,
oranges, raspberries and many more contain 80% -
90% of water.
5.EAT MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
