“to engage in management, or to
research management, is to commit
to some kind of stance on political
and moral values, such as the
desirability of efficiency or of
productivity or of profitability or,
even, of employee satisfaction and
well-being.
Management, then, is never neutral,
but, at most, purports to be so.”
-Grey, 2004, pg 179

decisions hold power, and that
information holds power over
them.

Editor's Notes
“You”niveristy
Information literacy is very personal in nature. It helps the success of the individual, which seems a little strange since our original interest as a profession was more in a public health approach, where information literacy was supposed to help people help each other.
If the goal is to make students more responsible, they need to understand first that their decisions hold power, and that information holds power over them.
To repeat….
And if we want the students to understand that their decisions have power, we must also give power to them.
To repeat….
And if we want the students to understand that their decisions have power, we must also give power to them.
Was it hard to make this about information? Not at all
Is it hard to maintain a politically neutral tone in a post trump America, especially as the truth becomes a partisan issue? You bet
Would I do it again? Totally
