2. Company Profile
Al shams Agro Group
 Alshams agro group is one of the biggest companies in middle east
in fruit processing
 The full capacity approx. 60.000 tons of concentrated , pulp, and
NFC juice
 Alshams has a very advanced filling plant to fill T.P jar and cans also
fruit juice in glass and PET
 Alshams has farms for mango , grape and organic orange, about
800 acres
 Alshams factories has been stablished in 2013
 Location : Ismailia – Al Tal Al kabeer – Wadi Al molak , 22 station

5. Company’ Strategy To Reduce Fruit Losses
and Wastes
• Criteria to receive raw materials for each variety
• Reducing post harvest handling processes
• Reducing number of conveying chain and the distances between
them inside the processing lines
• Proper transportation system from farm to factories
• Optimum utilization of production lines’ capacities
• Better storage facilities and in proper ways for un-processed
materials

6. Current Problems and challenges
• More wastes than the factories’ storage capacity
• Huge spaces are required to dry wastes for producing
animal feed e.g. in case of tomatoes
• Lower number of waste-based processing companies
• High cost to transport waste from one place to another

7. Suggestions and Requirements to
Reduce Losses and Waste
• Increase awareness and attitudes toward waste utilization and
its economic value
• Supporting and establishment of waste-based processing
companies
• New policies e.g. reducing road crossing fees/tolls
• Establishment separate waste processing units in factories
• Growing specific fruit varieties for processing
• Establishment of factories that are close by their raw materials
