Editor's Notes
- Begin by greeting the Teach for America group,then introduce yourself
- Explain that your theme is the ocean theme, and that it is a very flexible theme to use because it can be used in nearly every area of study
- State that the most obvious application of this theme is to science instruction- it can be used to teach these things. Give some examples, refer to the lesson plans you have already made.
- Explain that this video could be used to describe the trophic levels and the importance of each level.
- Explain that it can also be used for Social Studies, like these 2 points, as well. Call attention to the long history the oceans have with us humans and how that is important to instruction of any history.
- In the “Measurement” part, talk about measuring salinity, number of organisms, temperature, depth, etc.
- Explain how technology has changed dramatically, and the challenges we have overcome in deep-sea exploration, how technology affects our oceans, etc.
- Give a few examples of possible activities/experiences, talk about lesson possibilities
- Basically read the slide, thank the group from Teach for America for their time/listening.
