The program has a cross cutting objective of reduction in anemia and parasite prevalence among school age children. Baseline surveys in the 4 provinces of Sumatra found high rates of anemia and parasite infection among school age children. Rates varied by province Lampung and Riau had rates of over 50% of children anemic (56% in Lampung and 55%) in Riau 43% in West Sumatra and 40% in Bengkulu. Nearly 60% of the children in Jogjya in our target schools are anemic Parasite infections; Riau and Lampung 47% of children have worms Bengkulu was 35% and West Sumatra 20%.
