Some things to consider •  90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual •  We process images 60,000x faster than text •  “Captioning” text gets read 4x more than body copy •  Stock photography is distracting to users •  Irresistible images? Pointing arrows and directed gazes •  Our brains are wired to remember images better than names

  • 16. WHAT DO THE PROS DO WELL? •  Understand their “end goal” •  Tell a story and follow a path/have a message •  Make it beautiful •  Avoid special effects (3D is a no no!) •  Use colour, size, and position to help the reader see what is important

Here’s what... •  PICK THE RIGHT DATA •  Not all data can be visualized well •  PICK THE RIGHT VISUALIZATION •  Try different types and see what works best •  KEEP IT SIMPLE •  The more details you put in there, the harder it is to digest – simplicity is key! •  MATCH THE FORM TO THE CHANNEL •  Make sure your visuals are easily shareable on the main media channels you broadcast on
