Benz was granted a patent for his automobile on 29 January 1886, and began the first production of automobiles in 1888, after Bertha Benz, his wife, had proved with the first long-distance trip in August 1888 - from Mannheim to Pforzheim and back - that the horseless coach was absolutely suitable for daily use. Since 2008 a Bertha Benz Memorial Route commemorates this event.
Soon after, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in Stuttgart in 1889 designed a vehicle from scratch to be an automobile, rather than a horse-drawn carriage fitted with an engine. They also are usually credited as inventors of the first motorcycle in 1886, but Italy's Enrico Bernardi, of the University of Padua, in 1882, patented a 0.024 horsepower (17.9 W) 122 cc (7.4 cu in) one-cylinder petrol motor, fitting it into his son's tricycle, making it at least a candidate for the first automobile, and first motorcycle;.[8]:p.26 Bernardi enlarged the tricycle in 1892 to carry two adults.
Bajaj Auto
The Bajaj Group is amongst the top 10 business houses in India. Its footprint stretches over a wide range of industries, spanning automobiles (two-wheelers and three-wheelers), home appliances, lighting, iron and steel, insurance, travel and finance. The group's flagship company, Bajaj Auto, is ranked as the world's fourth largest two- and three- wheeler manufacturer and the Bajaj brand is well-known across several countries in Latin America, Africa, Middle East, South and South East Asia. Founded in 1926, at the height of India's movement for independence from the British, the group has an illustrious history. The integrity, dedication, resourcefulness and determination to succeed which are characteristic of the group today, are often traced back to its birth during those days of relentless devotion to a common cause. Jamnalal Bajaj, founder of the group, was a close confidant and disciple of Mahatma Gandhi. In fact, Gandhiji had adopted him as his son. This close relationship and his deep involvement in the independence movement did not leave Jamnalal Bajaj with much time to spend on his newly launched business venture. His son, Kamalnayan Bajaj, then 27, took over the reigns of business in 1942. He too was close to Gandhiji and it was only after Independence in 1947, that he was able to give his full attention to the business. Kamalnayan Bajaj not only consolidated the group, but also diversified into various manufacturing activities. The present Chairman of the group, Rahul Bajaj, took charge of the business in 1965. Under his leadership, the turnover of the Bajaj Auto the flagship company has gone up from INR.72 million to INR. 120 billion, its product portfolio has expanded and the brand has found a global market. He is one of India’s most distinguished business leaders and internationally respected for his business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit.

Group Companies
Bajaj Auto is the flagship of the Bajaj group of companies. The oval shape represents the company's global expansion and the stylized quot;
Hquot;
is symbolic of two people (the company and customer) shaking hands.

Hyundai Motor Company was founded by Ju-Yung Chung and younger brother Se-Yung Chung in December 1967. In 1968 the company entered into a contract with Ford motor company to assemble the Ford Cortina and Granada for the South Korean market and continued to produce them until 1976. Hyundai completed construction of the Ulsan plant in six months and achieved the shortest groundbreaking to first commercial production of any of Ford’s 118 plants. The eight year journey provided Hyundai with assembly knowledge, blueprints, technical specifications, production manuals, and trained Hyundai engineers.
Organizational Structure----
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Organizational structure refers to the way that an organization arranges people and jobs so that its work can be performed and its goals can be met. When a work group is very small and face-to-face communication is frequent, formal structure may be unnecessary, but in a larger organization decisions have to be made about the delegation of various tasks. Thus, procedures are established that assign responsibilities for various functions. It is these decisions that determine the organizational structure.In an organization of any size or complexity, employees' responsibilities typically are defined by what they do, who they report to, and for managers, who reports to them. Over time these definitions are assigned to positions in the organization rather than to specific individuals. The relationships among these positions are illustrated graphically in an organizational chart (see Figures 1a and 1b). The best organizational structure for any organization depends on many factors including the work it does; its size in terms of employees, revenue, and the geographic dispersion of its facilities; and the range of its businesses (the degree to which it is diversified across markets).There are multiple structural variations that organizations can take on, but there are a few basic principles that apply and a small number of common patterns. The following sections explain these patterns and provide the historical context from which some of them arose. The first section addresses organizational structure in the twentieth century. The second section provides additional details of traditional, vertically-arranged organizational structures. This is followed by descriptions of several alternate organizational structures including those arranged by product, function, and geographical or product markets. Next is a discussion of combination structures, or matrix organizations. The discussion concludes by addressing emerging and potential future.
Hyundai Motor Finance!
Our Hyundai Motor Finance Team is committed to excellence and delivering a quality financing experience for our customers. We offerboth retail and lease products designed to give you options to fit your finance needs.
Our website contains information about services we offer and how to obtain information regarding your Hyundai Motor Finance account.
Hyundai Records Good Sales Growth---
One of the India's leading car maker, Hyundai Motors Indian Limited (HMIL) have sold more cars in June 2010 as against the same month last year. Considering the entire sales from January to June 2010, Hyundai has recorded 29% growth in the Indian market and the exports grew by 9.2 %. Hyundai has sold 1,75,121 units in this period as against 1,35,751 cars during the Jan-Jun 2009 period. Hyundai sold 46,254 cars in June 2010 which was 47,266 units in the same period an year ago. In, India, the Korean car giant sold 27,366 cars in June 2010 against 23,015 in June 2009 an 19% sales rise. But, the company's exports witnessed a decrease by 22%, as only 18,888 units were shipped last month while 24,250 cars were exported last year in the same month. Among the different segments, 42,099 units of small cars (Santro, i10, Getz and i20 ) were sold and in Saloons, 4,137 cars of Accent and Verna were sold. But in the luxury car segment only 18 Sonata Transform cars were sold. Hyundai has launched new facelift Hyundai Verna Transform, which the company hopes, will boost Hyundai's sales in mid segment in the upcoming months of 2010.
Hyundai-developed Blue DriveTM Technologies:

Double Clutch Transmission
To be applied on future mid-size vehicles, the next generation gearbox combines the best of both worlds: the fuel economy of a manual with the comfort and convenience of an automatic. Best of all, it retains the sporty characteristics and responsiveness of a manual for pure driving pleasure.

8-Speed Automatic Transmission
Hyundai is in the final stages of developing its own 8-speed automatic transmission which will be fitted to rear wheel drive luxury vehicles. The extra gears promise to improve fuel efficiency by 2~3 percent and enhance 60->100kph acceleration performance by 2~3 percent.
Engineers have eliminated the dipstick used to check automatic transmission fluid level, thus requiring zero maintenance. Featuring four planetary gearsets, slip lock-up torque converter, aluminum carrier for reduced weight and compact single-piece case, the gearbox is filled and permanently sealed at the factory with a life-long low viscosity automatic transmission fluid which never requires changing throughout the life of the vehicle. Development work on the transmission began in 2006 and despite the addition of the extra gears, the 8-speed automatic has fewer parts than the five-speed automatic it replaces and is also 10 percent lighter.

Continuously Variable Valve Lift
The next step in 2.0L engine aspiration introduces the new element of valve lift control which is used in conjunction with duration and timing control. The net effect increases power by 5~6 percent while simultaneously improving fuel efficiency by over 5 percent while reducing exhaust emissions by increasing intake velocity and improving fuel atomization.

Gamma T-GDI (E85)
The 1.6L all-aluminum Gamma Turbo-GDI (E85) is a unique engine concept which is fueled by an 85:15 ethanol-gasoline blend that promises to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel efficiency while retaining the all-important fun-to-drive factor. Compared to peak torque of 29kgm@1750~4500rpm delivered by a gasoline GDI engine of the same displacement, the Gamma T-GDI (E85) delivers a 7 percent boost in torque while lifting horsepower by 10 percent to 220ps@6000rpm.

R2.2 Diesel Two-Stage Serial Sequential Turbo
Boasting the highest specific horsepower and torque of any diesel in its class, this latest diesel offering demonstrates why Hyundai's diesel engineering capabilities are second to none in the world. Using a third generation 1800bar common rail injection system with piezo-electric injectors and a two-stage turbo, the R2.2 delivers 225hp of peak horsepower and comparably impressive torque figures: greater than 70kW per liter. Emissions-wise, it achieves Euro 5 compliancy by employing close-coupled diesel particulate filter and highly efficient EGR cooler with bypass valve. The R Engine harnesses Hyundai’s newest and most advanced development tools. Computational flow dynamics, structural and thermal analysis were used to optimize its design while computerized simulation of the die casting process was employed to achieve the optimal balance of strength and low weight. The R is fitted with a 16–valve dual overhead camshaft which is driven by an internal steel timing chain. For reduced vibration and lower booming noise, the R gets a balance shaft which has been encased in a stiffened ladder frame housing for increased rigidity. After the death of Sanjay Gandhi, the Indira Gandhi government assigned a delegation of Indian technocrats to hunt for a collaborator for the project. Initial rounds of discussion were held with the giants of the automobile industry in Japan including Toyota, Nissan and Honda. Suzuki Motores Corporation was at that time a small player in the four wheeler automobile sector and had major share in the two wheeler segment. Suzuki's bid was considered negligible.
While the major companies were personally represented in the initial rounds of discussion, Osamu Suzuki, Chairman and CEO of the company ensured that he was present in all the rounds of discussion. Osamu in an article writes that it subtly massaged their (Indian delegation's) egos and also convinced them about the sincerity of Suzuki's bid. Suzuki in return received a lot of help from the government in such matters as import clearances for manufacturing equipment (against the wishes of the Indian machine tool industry then and its own socialistic ideology), land purchase at government prices for setting up the factory Gurgaon and reduced or removal of excise tariffs. This ensured that Suzuki conscientiously nursed Maruti Suzuki through its infancy to become one of its flagship ventures.
Joint venture related issues
Maruti Suzuki's A-Star vehicle during its unveiling in Pragati Maidan, Delhi. A-Star, Suzuki's fifth global car model, was designed and is made only in India. Besides being Suzuki's largest subsidiary in terms of car sales, Maruti Suzuki is also Suzuki's leading research and development arm outside Japan
Relationship between the Government of India, under the United front (India) coalition and Suzuki Motor Corporation over the Suzuki Motore was a point of heated debate in the Indian media till Suzuki Motor Corporation gained the controlling stake. This highly profitable joint venture that had a near monopolistic trade in the Indian automobile market and the nature of the partnership built up till then was the underlying reason for most issues. The success of the joint venture led Suzuki to increase its equity from 26% to 40% in 1987, and further to 50% in 1992. In 1982 both the venture partners had entered into an agreement to nominate their candidate for the post of Managing Director and every Managing Director will have a tenure of five years.
Initially R. C. Bhargava was the managing director of the company since the inception of the joint venture. Till today he is regarded as instrumental for the success of Maruti Suzuki. Joining in 1982 he held several key positions in the company before heading the company as Managing Director. Currently he is on the Board of Directors. After completing his five year tenure, Mr. Bhargava later assumed the office of Part-Time Chairman. The Government nominated Mr. S.S.L.N. Bhaskarudu as the Managing Director on 27 August 1997. Mr. Bhaskarudu had joined Maruti Suzuki in 1983 after spending 21 years in the Public sector undertaking Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited as General Manager. Later in 1987 he was promoted as Chief General Manager, 1988 as Director, Productions and Projects, 1989 Director, Materials and in 1993 as Joint Managing Director.
Suzuki Motore Corporation didn't attend the Annual General Meeting of the Board with the reason of it being called on a short notice. Later Suzuki Motor Corporation went on record to state that Mr. Bhaskarudu was quot;
incompetentquot;
and wanted someone else. However, the Ministry of Industries, Government of India refuted the charges. Media stated from the Maruti Suzuki sources that Bhaskarudu was interested to indigenise most of components for the models including gear boxes especially for Maruti 800. Suzuki also felt that Bhaskarudu was a proxy for the Government and would not let it increase its stake in the venture If Maruti Suzuki would have been able to indigenise gear boxes then Maruti Suzuki would have been able to manufacture all the models without the technical assistance from Suzuki. Till today the issue of localization of gear boxes is highlighted in the press.
The relation strained when Suzuki Motor Corporation moved to Delhi High Court to bring a stay order against the appointment of Mr. Bhaskarudu. The issue was resolved in an out-of-court settlement and both the parties agreed that R S S L N Bhaskarudu would serve up to 31 December 1999, and from 1 January 2000, Jagdish Khattar, Executive Director of Maruti Udyog Limited would assume charges as the Managing Director. Many politicians believed, and had stated in parliament that the Suzuki Motor Corporation is unwilling to localize manufacturing and reduce imports. This remains true, even today the gear boxes are still imported from Japan and are assembled at the Gurgaon facility.
[edit] Current sales of automobiles
Maruti 800
Maruti Omni
India's Corps of Military Police personnel patrolling the Wagah border crossing in the Punjab in a Maruti Gypsy.
Maruti WagonR
Maruti Alto
Maruti Suzuki Swift
Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo
Suzuki SX4
5th Generation Suzuki Alto is sold as Maruti Suzuki A-Star in India.
Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire
Suzuki Splash is sold as Maruti Suzuki Ritz in India.
Manufactured Locallity
800 (Launched 1983)
Omni (Launched 1984)
Gypsy (Launched 1985)
Wagon R (Launched 2002)
Alto (Launched 2000)
Swift (Launched 2005)
Estilo (Launched 2009)
SX4 (Launched 2007)
Swift DZire (Launched 2008)
A-star (Launched 2008)
Ritz (Launched 2009)
Eeco (Launched 2010)
Imported
Suzuki Grand Vitara
Grand Vitara (Launched 2007)
Discontinued Car Models :-
1000 (1990–1994)
Zene(1993–2006)
Esteem (1994–2008)
Baleno (1999–2007)
Zen Estilo (2006–2009)
Versa (2001–2010)
Grand Vitara XL7 (2003–2007)
Manufacturing Facility :- Maruti Suzuki has two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in India.
