The UK film industry contributes billions to the UK economy each year. It has six main parts: development, production, facilities, distribution, exhibition, and export. While production companies are often temporary, there are around 400 permanent film companies in the UK, varying based on current productions. The two largest film studios in the world are Universal Studios and Warner Bros, which also have interests in other media like television networks that help maximize profits and brand recognition.

2. The UK's film industry is part of a constantly developing creative media
landscape.
When we talk about the film industry, we're referring to its six different
component parts: Development, Production, Facilities, Distribution,
Exhibition and Export.
The nature of the industry means production companies are often set up for
a specific production and then close down when production is complete.

3. there are around 400 'permanent' (i.e. registered) companies in the film industry,
this figure varies depending on the number of productions being worked on at any
one time. Of the companies existing today, we can say approximately 43% are
production, 13% are distribution and the remaining 44% are exhibition companies.
In 2006, the UK film industry contributed £4.3 billion to the UK economy, up from
£3.1 billion in 2004.
516 films were released across the UK in 2007, a 58% increase over the
decade. UK films, including co-productions, accounted for 21% of releases and
29% of the market by value.
In 2007 the UK had the largest number of digital screens in Europe at 296
screens, double the number in 2006.

4. Universal studios-is an American film studio, owned by Comcast through its
wholly owned subsidiary NBC Universal, and is one of Hollywood's "Big Six"
film studios. Universal Studios is a member of the Motion Picture Association
of America (MPAA).The company also started a production company in
Paris, Universal Productions France S.A. Its production studios are at 100
Universal City Plaza Drive in Universal City, California.
Warner bros- the founders of the warner bros and 4 brothers called jack
warner, Sam warner, albert warner and harry warner. One of the major film
studios, it is a subsidiary of Time Warner. Warner owns half of The CW
Television Network. In Japan, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Time
Warner in June 1, 2014. Warner Bros. is a member of the Motion Picture
Association of America (MPAA).

5. The advantage of having other media interest is that the profits of the
company can be maximised as they have more on to show on there branding
logos.The company will have more of a chance to become more
internationally known which can get them to become more successful in the
big media industry.
