This document summarizes a study on electricity sector reform in post-conflict Iraq. It provides an overview of Iraq's electricity crisis since 2003, including suppressed demand and incorrect policies. The study aims to analyze demand, forecast electricity needs, and evaluate restructuring and optimization options. Key parameters for demand forecasting are discussed, such as population growth, GDP growth projections, income elasticity estimates, electricity tariffs, and price elasticity values. Total peak demand is forecasted to be around 46,867 MW by 2030, 23.7% higher than Iraq's current projections.
Solar Energy as an Alternative Energy than the Conventional Means of Electric...Ali Alhelal
Abstract: This study aims to show the feasibility of using solar power in Iraq as an alternative source of power generation. This research investigated the profits of using solar power economically and environmentally. Also, it addressed a set of important charts such as generated power, oil production, the amount of gas that used in the power plant, the average of delivered electricity hours, and CO2 emissions. Ten locations are chosen as the best places according to their total annual solar radiation and each location is assumed to have a 10 MW solar park. The results showed saving about 676,000 USD daily (based on 52 USD per barrel) from petrol can be used to generate electricity from the conventional means, offsetting over 200,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually, and around 111 job will be created during the construction stage of each 10 MW.

Energy is a key component in the overall growth of every nation. Insufficient energy delivery hinders political growth, restricts social growth, limits economic growth, and negatively affects the standard of living of citizens, bothin urban and rural areas. Sufficient energy delivery increases food production, improves the standards of living of citizens, improves healthcare and enhancements in other human services, enhances industrial output, provides effective and efficient transportation not forgetting adequate shelter to the citizens of the nation. Currently, there is a significant level of deficiency in Nigeria’s energy sector. This study seeks to address this issue by analysing cost implications of conventional energy source and solar energy source. This study brings to focus the payback period of a solar powered home and the return on investment that might accrue during this time to the residential home owners. Furthermore, the best cost-effective load sharing option for residential owners considering two energy sources is also obtained.
Connecting Jordan to GCC Power Grid: Creation of Geopolitical “Power” GridPower System Operation
Jordan agreed in May 2016 to join the existing Gulf countries’ power grid (GCC Power Grid).
This planned connection with the GCC countries has some political importance, aside from
simply promoting trade of electricity between Jordan and GCC countries. This article aims at
finding out the “embedded agenda” behind the planned connection of power grids between
Jordan and the GCC countries. It was found that Jordan’s participation in the GCC Power
Grid is advantageous for Saudi Arabia and Jordan for trading electricity between two
countries in the future. The planned connection of the power grid signifies the strengthened
relation between two countries, without having troubles to be caused (among GCC’s member
states) by Jordan’s official participation in the GCC as a new member. Jordan is so vulnerable
The Global Survey of the Electrical Energy Distribution System: A ReviewIJECEIAES
This paper gives a review of energy scenario in India and other countries. Today’s demand of the world is to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, during the production of electricity. Henceforth over the world, the production of electrical power is changing by introducing abundantly available renewable energy sources like sun and wind. But, because of the intermittent nature of sustainable power sources, the electrical power network faces many problems, during the transmission and distribution of electricity. For resolving these issues, Electrical Energy Storage (EES) is acknowledged as supporting technology. This paper discusses about the world electrical energy scenario with top renowned developed countries in power generation and consumption. Contribution of traditional power sources changed after the introduction of renewable energy sources like sun and wind. Worldwide Agencies are formed like International Energy Agency (IEA), The Central Intelligence Agency, (CIS) etc. The main aim of these agencies is to provide reliable, affordable and clean energy. This paper will discuss about the regulatory authority and government policies/incentives taken by different countries. At the end of this paper, author focuses on obstacles in implementation, development and benefits of renewable energy.

Solar energy as a potential contributor to help bridge the gap between electr...IJAAS Team
The pivotal role of electricity is as an enabler for every other sector in any economy. Adequate electricity supply is a vital input for the economic growth and in a range of key industries. Unfortunately, the electricity sector in Iraq has been an unsustainable fiscal burden on successive Iraqi governments yet it has not been able to meet the growing demand. Iraq’s electricity sector and government’s decision makers should look for a longterm solutions and strategies to meet the current and future demand, by taking important steps towards fostering a reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity system in the years and decades to come. Also, Iraqi government and ministry of electricity in particular should understand that electricity is basic service and right of Iraqis, and many nations have overcome this kind of problem decades ago. Overcoming this problem will help refueling Iraqi economy and enable it to stand on its feet again. Renewable energy resources, and solar in particular could be part of the solution. This paper aims to highlight the importance of solar energy in Iraq as a potential contributor to help bridge the gap between electricity supply and growing demand. Also, it discusses the solar energy opportunities with challenges facing other renewable energy sources in Iraq.
Sustainable Infrastructural Development in Africa: The Build Operate and Tran...AJHSSR Journal
The build, operate and transfer (BOT) investment model can be advantageously adopted in Nigeria in
ensuring the rehabilitation of the decaying and obsolete electricity infrastructure in the country as low electricity
generation and consumption has serious negative implications on both the households and economic activities in
the economy. Thus, the objective of the paper is to interrogate the existing electricity infrastructure in Nigeria
and advocate for a form of private investment model. Using qualitative method and documentary evidence
predicted on the public-private partnership model, the study found that electricity infrastructure in Nigeria is
obsolete and inadequate. Power generation in Nigeria compared to other leading economies in Africa is
abysmally low due to lack of adequate investment in the sector. The BOT investment model has been used
successfully to build and maintain cost-intensive infrastructures like the power plants, highways, railways,
airports, etc in both developed and developing countries of the world; as seen in China, India, Pakistan,
Philippine, South Africa, Ghana, etc. Thus, the paper submits that the BOT alternative should be adopted to
address the power sector menace in the country.

Critical minerals, which are essential for a range of clean energy technologies, have risen up the policy agenda in recent years due to increasing demand, volatile price movements, supply chain bottlenecks and geopolitical concerns. The dynamic nature of the market necessitates greater transparency and reliable information to facilitate informed decision-making, as underscored by the request from Group of Seven (G7) ministers for the IEA to produce medium- and long-term outlooks for critical minerals.
The Global Critical Minerals Outlook 2024 follows the IEA’s inaugural review of the market last year. It provides a snapshot of industry developments in 2023 and early 2024 and offers medium- and long-term outlooks for the demand and supply of key energy transition minerals based on the latest technology and policy trends.
The report also assesses key risks to the reliability, sustainability and diversity of critical mineral supply chains and analyses the consequences for policy and industry stakeholders. It will be accompanied by an updated version of the Critical Minerals Data Explorer, an interactive online tool that allows users to explore the latest IEA projections.
Afghanistan power system development project final project under Massive Open...Atiqur Rahman Barbhuiya
Afghanistan is at the bottom 10% globally in electricity consumption per capita and only 28% of its population is connected to the grid. In June 2015 Afghanistan’s access to electricity rate is estimated at about 25% with about 1 million residential connections.
The demand for electricity is increasing steadily, and it is estimated that Afghanistan would require 3,000 MW of electricity to suffice its needs by 2020.
This project is conceived to solicit external aid from private and Donor agencies to meet the challenges described above and creating a framework for a sustainable, decentralised power supply using renewable energy sources. The project is preparedfor partial fulfillment of obtaining a certificate under Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Financing for Development (FFD): Unlocking Investment Opportunities
