7. What will they will need Cost - No cost for the program at this stage will be required. If students which to purchase a T-shirt then parents will need to purchase this. The cost at this stage will be $20-25. Resources – students will be provided with a kit including pencils, diary, usb stick etc Lunch – bring a packed lunch or students can use the canteen Be aware that each school group will need to take a computer and school camera. You maybe asked by your teacher to help transport these resources to each week of the project.
8. You will be required to get your child to and from the venue. Please be on time. The students have a limited amount of time for the project and cannot afford to be away. Transport
9. Students will be required to Write WEEKLY reflections from the session on the project blog. They will be able to upload pictures etc. Students can write what they learned, what they did, the best part, ideas they have. Instructions on how to use the blog will be on the site. Over the 5 weeks of the project students will be required to make an animation using a simple program called Pivot Man. Students will be given a copy of the program on a usb stick. They can save their work on their usb stick. They will need a pc to use this program. Tasks can be completed at school. Please negotiate this with your teacher. Your support in ensuring these tasks are completed would be very much appreciated. Homework
10. What is a blog? A blog is a simple website that allows us to share information with a wider audience. The blog for our projects will only be accessible for students/teachers with a DEC user name and password. Parents can access the blog using their child’s login details. Students will access blogs through the portal. In order for your child to be involved in the blog a parent permission note handed out tonight will need to be completed.
11. A video about how the creations were made will be produced Students by the completion of the project will upload their creations to a website. This will be live on the internet but no photos of students will be submitted. Video and website
12. Any communication will occur via student email. Please ensure your child is checking their email for any messages every few days. Communication
13. Video Conference Throughout the project we hope to connect with a cartoonist from Queensland via a video conference. We hope to allow students to talk to him about his job and give some cartooning tips/hints
