  6. Independent Clause  can stand alone as a sentence.  it has a subject and a predicate and expresses a complete thought.
  7. Example:  Joyce found it in the drawer. subject predicate
  8. Example:  Fyran dances gracefully. subject predicate
  9. Subordinating Conjunction  joins dependent clause to independent clause.  goes at the beginning of an independent clause.
  10. Some common subordinators or subordinating conjunction:  after  although  as  as if  because  before  even though  if  in order to  though  unless  until
  11. though Femia likes cotton candy Example:
  12. if Elaiza eats popcorn Example:
  13. Dependent Clause  cannot stand alone as a sentence.  it has a subject and a predicate but does not express a complete thought.
  14. Dependent Clause  begin with subordinating conjunctions or subordinator.
  15. Example:  before Princess found it in the basket. subject subordinator predicate
  16. Example: unless the ball is still missing. subject subordinator predicate

  20. 1. Leila returned the computer after she noticed it was damaged. Directions: Identify whether it is a complex sentence and identify its parts. 2. When Jake was younger, he believed in fairy tales.
