The document discusses configuring and using Sametime Unified Telephony Lite (SUT Lite) within IBM Connections. SUT Lite allows for basic point-to-point calling between Sametime clients but has limitations compared to the full SUT capability. It requires enabling awareness in Sametime and configuring the SIP proxy on the Sametime media server to define routing rules for calls. Enabling SUT Lite for users involves configuring the necessary licenses, policies and dialplan to facilitate calls between Sametime softphones and other SIP endpoints.
8. Limitations
• Only point-to-point calls
• Only Sametime Connect Client is supported
• Users cannot dial into a Sametime meeting
• NAT traversal is not supported.
12. Client requirements
• Sametime Client 8.0.2 +
• When using SSL:
• Sametime Connect 8.5 +
• Lotus Notes 8.5.1 +
• Users must be logged into Sametime from
the same machine as where they access
Connections and with the same account

Configuring SUT Lite
22. Configure the server
• Install the SUT Lite license
• Enable SUT Lite on the Media Manager
from the System Console
• Optional: disable encryption
23. Enable users
• Enable SIP Trunk capability on the
Media Manager policy
24. Dialplan

When I heared what products were included with the IBM Connections Suite I understood most of them. They made sense. The only one that made me wondering was Sametime Unified Telephony Lite. This question will be the guideline through my session today. At the end I hope you can also answer this question.
Introduced with 8.5.2Enable the SIP capabilities of Connect (softphone)Audio VideoMake and receive calls
Direct SIP connection to the SIP Proxy of the Media ManagerNo additional hardwareNo additional software at clients
2 ways of connectingWhen combined only server based is usedOnlyConnect is support with SUTLite Client Based
For SSL connections additional configuration of the client needs to be doneSSL is automatically used when Connections is accessed via HTTPS (mixed content)When using Lotus Notes the webapi of Connect needs to be enabled
HTTP - Port 59449 HTTPS – Port 59669
Awareness is only running with Profiles (profiles pages and business cards)When SSL is enabled for Connections, but not for Connect use HTTP for both urls
Looking at the Driving Innovation video of the Connections Suite there should be a Call button. It’s not there. Only when using SUT it’s there and working as demonstrated.
From my experience there is no real integration. Only for SUT. But having SUT Lite still has added value when used from Connect.
Only a few 100K file with an install scriptTLS is fully supported, but it’s recommended to do the initial install without and enable afterwards
Usually only INVITEFix available to prevent ST requests to route into the wrong direction
“Push a route” to leave the Request URI and add a route field“Replace the Request-URL” to modify the URL. Req. For phonenumbers
Not limited to numbering. You can also use names within the SIP Request. Usefull for non-telephony equipment
