-Taoists believe and worship their sovereign (a person that rules or has power in authority) they also believe in the idea of heaven and their ancestors. They also believe in connection to nature and the Universe. -They believe in being simple -They believe that sickness is caused by sin or bad things that they did.
-Taoists believe that yin is feminine and yang is masculine - God, life, goodness, justice, righteousness, light, peace, heat, happiness, beauty, heaven, risings . . . the active, that which is on the surface, is Yang. - Satan, death, evil, injustice, unrighteousness, darkness, war, cold, sadness, ugliness, earth, sinkings . . . the passive, that which is deep or hidden, is Yin. -Taoists belive in balancing yin and yang -Yin and yang is the balance and harmony of both, with each energy flowing through balanced. -Yin and yang Is carried out in our life today by taichi, taichi is all about energy flowing through your body in harmony, just like yin and yang
-Tao-te Ching: In English means the classic way of power, the oldest texts they found are from 200 BCE. The Text is very poetic: So long as I love quietude, the people will of themselves go straight. So long as I act only by inactivity, the people will of themselves become prosperous. -Chuang-Tzu: From the 3-4 th century BCE: Some of the stuff they talk about is: Death and Immortals and it might be even as long as 53 chapters. -The other texts are: -Leigh-Tzu : Nature, humans and events -Kuan-Tzu : The heart -Ling pao Ching: celestial woirries and worships -T’ai-p’ing Ching: Special Diets
-The Chuang-Tzu text has helped the development of landscape painting and poetry. Taoists believe that people should not take days painting landscapes and details they prefer a technique called Sumi-e and capture more of the impressions of things. -New years special festival food is rice cake and the autumn festivals food is moon cakes. Each festival celebrates a certain kind of food. Even though Taoists diets usually consist of whole grains, vegetables, fruit, seeds, tofu and herbs on these festivals they like to eat wine and meat. They also include many herbs in their diet to get more positive energy in their body. -Taoists believe that music brings them closer to gods and closer to their inner self. They usually play music at celebrations like birthdays and festivals.
