Affiliate marketing
 Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based
marketing in which a business rewards one or more
affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the
affiliate's own marketing efforts.
 The industry has four core players: the merchant
(also known as 'retailer' or 'brand'), the network
(that contains offers for the affiliate to choose from
and also takes care of the payments), the publisher
(also known as 'the affiliate'), and the customer
 Those methods include organic search engine
optimization (SEO), paid search engine marketing
(PPC - Pay Per Click), e-mail marketing, content
marketing and in some sense display advertising.
 It is the best way for promoting the product through
online and it is quite efficient in making the product
known to customers. The market revolves around four
categories of people i.e. merchant, network,
publisher and customers.
Advantages
Merchants gain a wider place to sell their products
and services, resulting in more customers and more
sales.
The affiliate marketing program provides an easy
way to create additional sources of income for
website publishers and owners. Marketing banners
of merchants products generate instant sales
wherein they get a commission.
 It does not require a sizeable investment on the part of
the affiliate.
 The affiliate does not have to worry about customer
support, book keeping, and e-commerce related
headaches
 An affiliate marketer enjoys the luxury of being his own
boss and work on his own time. He can work only for a
few hours or more and generate income 24/7 wherever
he may be located in the world.
Disadvantages
 There is the possibility that some merchants may
incur high commission costs and costly set up and
maintenance fees due to affiliate
facilitators/brokers.
 The affiliates may engage in false and misleading
advertising in order to get sales commissions.
 Merchants may promise high commissions to attract
new affiliates then drop commission rates after a
week or two.
 There are also false advertising, unlawful use of
trade names, logos, or brands.
