The narrator encounters a lonely monster in the city who tries to scare people because he has no friends. The monster tells the narrator that he prefers being a monster to seeing lonely human children without love. However, he also likes humans' ability to dream and believe in love. While acknowledging the dark side of humanity, the narrator tells the monster that humans can escape reality through fantasy, which is better than reality.
6. ...that he had no one to talk to, but
he still prefferred to be a monster
when he tought about the human
children who did not get any love and
felt an emptiness in their lives...
7. ...on many dark nights he tried to
see wha the human children were
doing, so he transformed himself
into a human boy and he
discovered what it was like to
dream and he liked the idea that
humans have of believing that it is
possible to love...
8. ...but he was afraid of the dark side of humans. Humans can be mean
to each other, some like to bully others and they are so evil that they like
to see others suffering...
9. ... I told him that it is true, we
humans live in a crazy world...
10. ...and that we too feel alone, but we
love being humans, because we can
swap from reality to a world of
fantasy whenever we want and
fantasy is better than reality...
