18. Secret places Secret places is a way of learning good geographical skills to investigate somewhere but right on your doorstep
19. What do I do? In pairs/groups you will choose (or be given) a secret place location somewhere in the school grounds You have to: investigate your place and think of creative ways to describe this place to others You will have 15minsto investigate outside then 15mins back in class to prepare your clues to share with the class Communicate only your clues to others – be selective with the information you give – think carefully, what should you reveal first?
20. What kinds of clues could I find to describe a place? What ideas do you have? What clues do detectives look for? You will have your senses, your phone, and paper + pencil
21. Ideas.... TIP: Don’t make it too easy, be clever, think like a detective. You could: - make simple sketches of something in your secret place, e.g. A fountain, a bin, etc. - pick up ‘evidence’, e.g. Leaves, gravel, etc. - make rubbings of surfaces, e.g. The floor - describe different senses: e.g. I can hear….. , I can smell……., I can feel…………… - record the noises you hear - photograph something from your place
