The unit on learning strategies taught pre-service teachers how to manage and teach learning strategies to their future students. It introduced a lesson plan model based on Chamot that can be used individually or in groups to improve specific issues in learning or producing a second language. Creating a language learner profile allowed students to apply their background knowledge of language systems and practice the lesson plan model.
1. Reflection Unit 1: Learning Strategies
Regarding to the first unit studied in classes of English Methodology II about
learning strategies, it can be said that it wasa very helpful unit that taught us how to
manage some learning strategies, and the necessary steps to follow in order to use
and teach them to our future pupils.
It also gave us as pre-service teachers the opportunity to learn and practice
a new model of lesson plan based on Chamot that can be use individually or in
small groups in order to improve specific issues identified in the process of learning
or producing a second language. In addition to that, we as students of English
Pedagogy and future teachers had the opportunity to use and apply all of the
content seen during the unit and the previous content seen in English Methodology
I by the creation of a Language Learner Profile (LLP) that allowed us to put into
practice our background knowledge related to the systems of the language, and at
the same time the opportunity to put into practice the lesson plan previously
mentioned.
