2. My name is Jagoda and in June
2023 I took part in the short-term
ESC volunteering program
"Opportunities ahead!" in Málaga,
Spain, which was a life changing
experience for me.
3. WHY I DECIDEDTOTAKE PART INTHIS
PROJECT?
Becoming a European Solidarity Corps
volunteer has been my dream and goal at the
same time for many years. I have always
been an open-minded person and wanted to
live abroad.When I graduated from
secondary school, I decided the time was
right. And now I don't regret my decision at
all.
4. MYTASKS
The main objectives of the project were to
support the local community. I had the
opportunity to organize a summer camp for
children in Asocación deVecinos ElTorcal.
Working with the youngest gave me a lot of
joy and satisfaction. The Spanish nation is very
open, so the children wanted to hug me all the
time and I easily struck up a conversation with
them. We were drawing, painting and playing
games together. In addition, in the first weeks
of the project, I was helping in the social
kitchen where the poorest inhabitants of
Malaga can receive food. Although this job
wasn't the easiest one, because the tasks were
sometimes demanding, thanks to it I learned
self-discipline and cooperation in an
international team.
5. OTHER ADVANTAGES
The ESC project is not only
voluntary service, it is also a real
school of life. No trip has taught me
as much as this one. Thanks to it, I
became more independent, I
stopped being afraid to face
problems or challenges, I opened
up to other people and I am now
definitely sure that I can live on my
own. During my stay I also had an
opportunity to go sightseeing and
explore new places like Granada or
Gibraltar.
6. European Solidarity Corps
voluntary service is a truly
amazing adventure and a
valuable lesson in independent
living. Thanks to it, I can get to
know new culture, traditions and
lifestyle of the local community,
make friends with people from
all over the world, have the best
time of my life, and also
obviously do good things for
others.
