Life is seasonal. We go through the
seasons of life celebrating different
aspects. In the cold of winter we
focus on Advent- Christ coming as
the light into this world of darkness.
In spring; we concentrate on Lent –
Christ dying to save us from our
sins. For fall; the focal point is on
Harvest- a time when we pause to
give thanks to God for His bountiful
blessings. In this season of our
church life at Faith Moravian
Church we pause to place an empha-
sis on Stewardship – “Grace, Grati-
tude and Generosity.” These three
words are intertwined as outlined by
the equation: Grace + Gratitude =
Generosity. The outcome of each
component of the equation involves
giving, receiving and sharing.
Grace means God’s unmerited love
in action towards humanity. It is
basically a gift; it does not come as
a result of a good deed done or as a
reward for an accomplishment.
Grace is portrayed in God moving
heaven and earth to save sinners
who could not lift a finger to save
themselves. It is also posited in God
sending His only Son to save us
from our sins. Our God lavishly be-
stows His grace upon us. He liberal-
ly dispenses His favor without the
least bit of co-operation, preparation
or acceptance on our part. Our re-
sponse could be availing ourselves
to receive God’s grace or neglect
them to our detriment. The choice is
ours to make.
Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation for
blessings or benefits we have received. It
is a response to God’s grace that has been
bestowed upon us continuously. Our in-
debtedness to God is enormous and just
the simple act of saying ‘Thank You God’
infers that I am not thanking myself but
rather acknowledging that all that I have
come from God. This should move us to
put gratitude on our ‘to- do-list’ daily. It
shifts the focus from what your life lacks
to the abundance that is already present.
Therefore it should be imperative that we
thank God for the gifts; none of them de-
served, but because of His grace towards
us.
Generosity is the end-product of grace
(unmerited favor showered upon us) and
gratitude (being thankful for everyday
gifts). Generosity is the sharing end of the
equation. Grace becomes visible when
God’s people practice generosity. Gener-
osity is a core characteristic of God. He
gives us the best of the best; He gives of
His best even to His enemies. This is an
example worth emulating. As we are
blessed with many and varying gifts from
God it behooves us as Christians to share
our resources.
Therefore, we don’t need to do anything
to receive grace but we need to respond
by expressing our gratitude to God. It is
out of that gratitude to God that we are
able to inculcate the habit of generosity.
Grace + Gratitude = Generosity.
Till next time!

BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Trustees continue to ensure that
Faith Moravian Church is well kept.
The new windows will be installed by
the end of the year. This we hope will
help with the increasing utility bills.
The church sign has been ordered and
installation will take place as soon as
the permits are received. The installa-
tion of the sign will be the fruits of
many who labored in fund-raising . We
hope to end the year with a new media
system and a revived web-site. Both
will be beneficial to the church as a
whole.
The costs of general repairs continue to
rise, but with faith in God, we will en-
sure our church is always functioning.
The Trustees hope to get more of our
members involved in the financial un-
derstanding of the church as we move
forward into 2016.
EVANGELISM CORNER
As a Committee we are grateful to God
for the wonderful and blessed experi-
ence we had over a very busy Summer
2015 here at Faith Church. The Com-
mittee, along with Rev. White, planned
and executed a week of evangelistic
activities Sept. 28th
– Oct. 3rd
The
week’s activities included Evangelism
training, Monday & Tuesday, led by
Rev. Bevon White. The training was
based on “Using Your Testimony as a
Witnessing tool.”
On Wednesday we began three eve-
nings of Evangelism / Revival Ser-
vices. Our guest speaker was the Rev.
Nasel Ephraim, Moravian Pastor from
Pennsylvania. Due to inclement
weather, we had to cancel our Friday
Evening service. However on the two
previous nights, we enjoyed wonderful
singing, fellowshipping, and soul-
stirring messages from Rev. Ephraim.
Services were enhanced by the singing
of the Chancel and Men’s Choirs. The
week’s activities were topped off with
our Annual Health Fair. This year
Health Fair activities were in the capable
hands and sturdy guidance of Sis. Cindy
Campbell. Many faithful members and
friends came out for a health check in
spite of the gloomy weather and to hear
informative and interesting presentations
from Medical & Dental Doctors, Nutri-
tionist, Psychologist and the Police. We
invite feedback / comments from attendees
as the committee looks forward to im-
prove next year and pray that we will be
able to reach a wider section of the imme-
diate surroundings of the Church.
MEN’S FELLOWSHIP
The Men of Faith were invited to a meet-
ing on Sat. Oct. 31st at the Panton’s resi-
dence. There were about 15 men in attend-
ance and they are indeed off to a lovely
start. Out of this meeting the Executive
was formed and are as follows: President–
Bro. Rudolph Panton; Vice President-
Bro. Gilmore Thompson; Secretary - Bro.
Livingston Willis; Treasurer– Bro. David
Whittle & PRO - Bro. Horace McCor-
mack. All men are invited to join as they
will have various activities throughout the
year.

There are currently 9 youngsters in our Youth Fel-
lowship in the age range 10 -15 . Though small in
numbers they strive to accomplish many mammoth
tasks while fellowshipping and having fun with each
other. Youth Fellowship is held each Friday at 7:00
pm. Pastor , Sisters Grace, Jackie & Kim are present
every Friday to offer support and guidance for the
kids. Over the past few months they have worked as-
siduously in preparation for Youth Rally - Quiz
Bowl (Book of Matthew, History of John Hus & Cov-
enant for Christian Living) and designing the Banner.
There are many activities that our youngsters are
actively engaged in on a Friday. Some of them are:
Bible Study (1st Friday of each month); Games Night,
Movie Night, Guest Speakers, Fitness Friday, Ice
Skating & Practice for Upcoming Events.
For the month of October they were challenged to
find a member of the congregation that fits the fol-
lowing criteria: Someone who encourages, takes an
interest in, sets good Christian example, motivates,
checks up on, loves etc. They were not allowed to
choose family members nor youth workers. Their
honorees were as follows:

YOUTH CORNER
YOUTH RALLY 2015
The weekend of October 10 –11 was exciting for our youngsters as
they gathered with other Moravian youngsters at Fordham Universi-
ty in New York for Youth Rally. They were challenged and charged
to “Go Light Your World”. Our youngsters represented us well by
leading Praise & Worship, explaining their banner’s design, becom-
ing strong contenders in the Quiz Bowl and through the rendition
of items in the evening’s concert. Here are some comments from
them:
“It was an interesting experience; being a part of the Quiz bowl was
very intense and exciting.” Bevon

Congregation Watchword : “Be like those who are waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that
they may open the door for Him as soon as He comes and knocks.” Luke 12:36
“This is similar to when we are preparing for a special guest. Someone who we can't wait to see. We are in great anticipa-
tion , joyful, singing as we get our house in order by making sure that everything is spic and span . We go about dusting, vac-
uuming, changing draperies and keeping a watchful eye on the lookout always so that as soon as he knocks we are ready to
open the door. We should always be prepared and ready for the coming of our Lord.” Sis. Grace
on the negative often thinking we don't have enough. But God
wants us to know that he has provided for every single need for
us ; all we need to do is receive his blessings. One way to do
that is to share your blessing with others. Something as small as
smiling at a stranger, comforting a person in sorrow, or sharing
your lunch with a homeless person. God sees every hurt and
struggle that we go through. God blesses us by renewing our
spirits and blessing us with even more than we ask him for.
Proverbs 19:17 states "He who is kind to the poor lends to the
Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done." Sometimes
we are so engrossed in our sorrows we have no idea how to be a
blessing to others. Try to break out of the clouds and share the
Lord’s joy with other people. So, this week let’s try to share the
gifts that God has given you by paying for the customer behind
you, buying lunch for a co-worker, or holding the door open for
the person behind you. Submitted by: Sis. Nayanie
STEWARDSHIP CORNER
Our stewardship theme this year is “Grace, Gratitude, and
Generosity.” Generosity is often forgotten in society be-
cause everyone is trying to look out for themselves , for-
getting their neighbors. As Christians it is our duty to dis-
play God's devotion to us through our generosity. Genesis
1:29 says: "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face
of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in
it. They will be yours for food." Isn't it awesome that we
serve a God that has already blessed us with everything
that we need from the very beginning? Often we overlook
the small gifts God has given us like food, clean water, a
bed to sleep in; these are things other people may not
have. Small gestures of faith and encouragement may
make a difference in someone else's life. We tend to focus

was a success and we hope to get
more young people involved as we
move into 2016. The Sunday
school is progressing and our aim is
to have more children as well as
adults attending .
The committee is undertaking the
task of re-making the Journey of the
Tribes list. This is in an effort to have
cohesive groups. The C
The CEC hopes to get more young
people involved in the life of the

Steps of Faith | Volume 2 Issue 3 (August-November 2015)

  • 1. Life is seasonal. We go through the seasons of life celebrating different aspects. In the cold of winter we focus on Advent- Christ coming as the light into this world of darkness. In spring; we concentrate on Lent – Christ dying to save us from our sins. For fall; the focal point is on Harvest- a time when we pause to give thanks to God for His bountiful blessings. In this season of our church life at Faith Moravian Church we pause to place an empha- sis on Stewardship – “Grace, Grati- tude and Generosity.” These three words are intertwined as outlined by the equation: Grace + Gratitude = Generosity. The outcome of each component of the equation involves giving, receiving and sharing. Grace means God’s unmerited love in action towards humanity. It is basically a gift; it does not come as a result of a good deed done or as a reward for an accomplishment. Grace is portrayed in God moving heaven and earth to save sinners who could not lift a finger to save themselves. It is also posited in God sending His only Son to save us from our sins. Our God lavishly be- stows His grace upon us. He liberal- ly dispenses His favor without the least bit of co-operation, preparation or acceptance on our part. Our re- sponse could be availing ourselves to receive God’s grace or neglect them to our detriment. The choice is ours to make. Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation for blessings or benefits we have received. It is a response to God’s grace that has been bestowed upon us continuously. Our in- debtedness to God is enormous and just the simple act of saying ‘Thank You God’ infers that I am not thanking myself but rather acknowledging that all that I have come from God. This should move us to put gratitude on our ‘to- do-list’ daily. It shifts the focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present. Therefore it should be imperative that we thank God for the gifts; none of them de- served, but because of His grace towards us. Generosity is the end-product of grace (unmerited favor showered upon us) and gratitude (being thankful for everyday gifts). Generosity is the sharing end of the equation. Grace becomes visible when God’s people practice generosity. Gener- osity is a core characteristic of God. He gives us the best of the best; He gives of His best even to His enemies. This is an example worth emulating. As we are blessed with many and varying gifts from God it behooves us as Christians to share our resources. Therefore, we don’t need to do anything to receive grace but we need to respond by expressing our gratitude to God. It is out of that gratitude to God that we are able to inculcate the habit of generosity. Grace + Gratitude = Generosity. Till next time! • 2. P A G E 2 S T E P S O F F A I T H U P D A T E S & H I G H L I G H T S BOARD OF TRUSTEES The Trustees continue to ensure that Faith Moravian Church is well kept. The new windows will be installed by the end of the year. This we hope will help with the increasing utility bills. The church sign has been ordered and installation will take place as soon as the permits are received. The installa- tion of the sign will be the fruits of many who labored in fund-raising . We hope to end the year with a new media system and a revived web-site. Both will be beneficial to the church as a whole. The costs of general repairs continue to rise, but with faith in God, we will en- sure our church is always functioning. The Trustees hope to get more of our members involved in the financial un- derstanding of the church as we move forward into 2016. EVANGELISM CORNER As a Committee we are grateful to God for the wonderful and blessed experi- ence we had over a very busy Summer 2015 here at Faith Church. The Com- mittee, along with Rev. White, planned and executed a week of evangelistic activities Sept. 28th – Oct. 3rd The week’s activities included Evangelism training, Monday & Tuesday, led by Rev. Bevon White. The training was based on “Using Your Testimony as a Witnessing tool.” On Wednesday we began three eve- nings of Evangelism / Revival Ser- vices. Our guest speaker was the Rev. Nasel Ephraim, Moravian Pastor from Pennsylvania. Due to inclement weather, we had to cancel our Friday Evening service. However on the two previous nights, we enjoyed wonderful singing, fellowshipping, and soul- stirring messages from Rev. Ephraim. Services were enhanced by the singing of the Chancel and Men’s Choirs. The week’s activities were topped off with our Annual Health Fair. This year Health Fair activities were in the capable hands and sturdy guidance of Sis. Cindy Campbell. Many faithful members and friends came out for a health check in spite of the gloomy weather and to hear informative and interesting presentations from Medical & Dental Doctors, Nutri- tionist, Psychologist and the Police. We invite feedback / comments from attendees as the committee looks forward to im- prove next year and pray that we will be able to reach a wider section of the imme- diate surroundings of the Church. MEN’S FELLOWSHIP The Men of Faith were invited to a meet- ing on Sat. Oct. 31st at the Panton’s resi- dence. There were about 15 men in attend- ance and they are indeed off to a lovely start. Out of this meeting the Executive was formed and are as follows: President– Bro. Rudolph Panton; Vice President- Bro. Gilmore Thompson; Secretary - Bro. Livingston Willis; Treasurer– Bro. David Whittle & PRO - Bro. Horace McCor- mack. All men are invited to join as they will have various activities throughout the year. SUNDAY SCHOOL Sunday School is held every Sunday morning @ 10 am. • 3. P A G E 3V O L U M E 2 ; I S S U E 3 There are currently 9 youngsters in our Youth Fel- lowship in the age range 10 -15 . Though small in numbers they strive to accomplish many mammoth tasks while fellowshipping and having fun with each other. Youth Fellowship is held each Friday at 7:00 pm. Pastor , Sisters Grace, Jackie & Kim are present every Friday to offer support and guidance for the kids. Over the past few months they have worked as- siduously in preparation for Youth Rally - Quiz Bowl (Book of Matthew, History of John Hus & Cov- enant for Christian Living) and designing the Banner. There are many activities that our youngsters are actively engaged in on a Friday. Some of them are: Bible Study (1st Friday of each month); Games Night, Movie Night, Guest Speakers, Fitness Friday, Ice Skating & Practice for Upcoming Events. For the month of October they were challenged to find a member of the congregation that fits the fol- lowing criteria: Someone who encourages, takes an interest in, sets good Christian example, motivates, checks up on, loves etc. They were not allowed to choose family members nor youth workers. Their honorees were as follows: Kivon White- Sis. Bernice Lloyd Jamelia Thomas - Sis. Mernel Brumley Tianna White - Sis. Alda Allen Tannia White - Bro. Garth Salmon Daunte Jackson - Bro. Vernon Pusey George Campbell - Sis. Carlota McCormack Josh Cowan - Sis. Joy Morant Jamal Jackson - Sis. Rose Wilson Bevon White - Sis. Imogene Hodgson YOUTH CORNER YOUTH RALLY 2015 The weekend of October 10 –11 was exciting for our youngsters as they gathered with other Moravian youngsters at Fordham Universi- ty in New York for Youth Rally. They were challenged and charged to “Go Light Your World”. Our youngsters represented us well by leading Praise & Worship, explaining their banner’s design, becom- ing strong contenders in the Quiz Bowl and through the rendition of items in the evening’s concert. Here are some comments from them: “It was an interesting experience; being a part of the Quiz bowl was very intense and exciting.” Bevon “It was another year to remember because it was different .”Josh The performances were amazing because I got to see other churches showcase their talents.” Tianna “It was awesome being a part of the Quiz Bowl.” Kivon “It was fun seeing other churches banners.” Tannia “My youth rally experience showed me how large and loving my Moravian family is.” Jamal “I had a great time and my connection with God has gotten better.” Daunte “I was under a lot of pressure at first but then I ended up enjoying it.” George “I enjoyed the sermon and showing everyone our banner.”Jamelia CONGRATUALTIONS! • 5. P A G E 5V O L U M E 2 ; I S S U E 3 I89:;<;:9=9>?8 ?@ 9A: CAB;CA’D E=9CAE?;F Congregation Watchword : “Be like those who are waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that they may open the door for Him as soon as He comes and knocks.” Luke 12:36 “This is similar to when we are preparing for a special guest. Someone who we can't wait to see. We are in great anticipa- tion , joyful, singing as we get our house in order by making sure that everything is spic and span . We go about dusting, vac- uuming, changing draperies and keeping a watchful eye on the lookout always so that as soon as he knocks we are ready to open the door. We should always be prepared and ready for the coming of our Lord.” Sis. Grace on the negative often thinking we don't have enough. But God wants us to know that he has provided for every single need for us ; all we need to do is receive his blessings. One way to do that is to share your blessing with others. Something as small as smiling at a stranger, comforting a person in sorrow, or sharing your lunch with a homeless person. God sees every hurt and struggle that we go through. God blesses us by renewing our spirits and blessing us with even more than we ask him for. Proverbs 19:17 states "He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done." Sometimes we are so engrossed in our sorrows we have no idea how to be a blessing to others. Try to break out of the clouds and share the Lord’s joy with other people. So, this week let’s try to share the gifts that God has given you by paying for the customer behind you, buying lunch for a co-worker, or holding the door open for the person behind you. Submitted by: Sis. Nayanie STEWARDSHIP CORNER Our stewardship theme this year is “Grace, Gratitude, and Generosity.” Generosity is often forgotten in society be- cause everyone is trying to look out for themselves , for- getting their neighbors. As Christians it is our duty to dis- play God's devotion to us through our generosity. Genesis 1:29 says: "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." Isn't it awesome that we serve a God that has already blessed us with everything that we need from the very beginning? Often we overlook the small gifts God has given us like food, clean water, a bed to sleep in; these are things other people may not have. Small gestures of faith and encouragement may make a difference in someone else's life. We tend to focus CHRISTIAN ED. CORNER The Christian Education Committee continues to play an integral role in the life of the church. Youth Rally was a success and we hope to get more young people involved as we move into 2016. The Sunday school is progressing and our aim is to have more children as well as adults attending . The committee is undertaking the task of re-making the Journey of the Tribes list. This is in an effort to have cohesive groups. The C The CEC hopes to get more young people involved in the life of the church. Submitted by: Sis. Jackie CHRISTMAS POINSETTIA The poinsettias which will decorate our sanctuary this year during the Christmas Eve Services may be purchased as me- morials for loved ones, to honor someone special or for blessings received.
