The document is a newsletter from Faith Moravian Church that provides updates from the pastor and information on upcoming church events, ministries, and celebrations over the next few months; it encourages members to get involved in the church's activities and ministries and work together as a team to spread the gospel and serve others in the community.
1. If you can think of something, share
it with us.
I plan to visit with every member of
the congregation during this year. It
will help if I know what is a good
time for you. This is a visit to get to
know you better and to learn what
your expectations and aspirations are
for Faith. I am sure that together we
will be able to do a lot. That is the
principle of team work;' Together
Each Achieve More!' I therefore seek
your assistance in building Team
Faith, a team that will take us into a
future filled with possibilities. In-
deed, all things are possible with God
for those who believe. Join me there-
fore in Faith, as we grow by faith
moving forward in Faith.
Pastor Bevon.
It is an honor to be sending this
first edition of our Newsletter out
to you, our family and friends of
Faith. It is our hope that this
marks the awakening and con-
tinuation of what has been a tradi-
tion of our congregation. I invite
you to share this with as many
persons as possible as a way to
inform them of what we are doing
at Faith, to solicit well needed
support for our ministries as they
develop and as a means of invit-
ing those without a church home
to join us. Thanks to our Adminis-
trative Assistant for taking on the
task of the production and distri-
bution of our newsletter.
March 15th
marked one year
since I started serving the congre-
gation on a part time basis and the
middle of this month will be one
year since I started serving on a
full time basis. There has never
been a time when I was not made
to feel welcome in this congrega-
tion. I was joined by the rest of
my family in September 2013 and
we were warmly welcomed by the
congregation at the Installation
Service on September 29th. They
too were made to feel as welcome
as I and are fully integrated into
the Faith Family. We are truly
thankful for your warmth
and generosity.
As you read through this
edition you will get a taste
of the many ministries and
events that are taking place
at Faith. Our aim is to get
you more involved, in what-
ever way you see fit, in the
ministries and activities of
our congregation. As a con-
gregation we strive to be
true to our mission and to
ensure that our mission is
directed by the vision of our
founders. It is for this reason
that we plan our activities.
We have strong Boards and
Committees that move the
ministries forward but they
cannot do this effectively
without the involvement of
the entire congregation.
What can you do to help?
How can you make us more
effective in ministry as a
congregation? Each day we
must ask ourselves these
questions as we assess our
individual roles against the
role of our congregation. We
should also be seeking other
or newer ways of fulfilling
our vision.

A Word from the President of the Trustees.
Greetings!
These Lenten midweek services
have really brought us together
as Christians and we look for-
ward to growing deeper spiritu-
ally as a church and also in the
wider community.
We finally got over the hurdle of
getting back the heat in the Sanctuary.
We now move on to roof repairs and
a proper drainage system. A big thank
you to all those who have contrib-
uted so far to the heating system. We
also have some upcoming small pro-
jects, and we need the support of
everyone. Spring cleaning is
coming up so stay tuned and get
ready. The next big event is Jour-
ney of the Tribes which is
scheduled for May 31st. I know
different groups are working on
their presentations.
The Board of Trustees invites
every member of the congrega-
tion to become active participants
in: worship, prayer, study, giving
and serving. We have been called
by Christ to use all our gifts for
building up the church and inviting
others to experience the joy of
salvation. To do this we must
serve and support one another
and be open to hearing and
sharing our stories. This re-
quires the participation of all
whom God has called to be
members of the Faith Moravian
Church.

Spotlight On ‘The Men’s Gospel Chorus’
The Men of Faith Gospel
Chorus love the Lord. Their
goal is to contribute in
spreading the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, and that their music
will be a source of hope for
all who hear.
The group, which was estab-
lished in 2003 under the lead-
ership of the late Bro. Donald
Morant, was led by Mr. An-
thony Bailey, the group's
Organist and Mr. Monte
Henry, Music Director for
many years. In 2013 Brother
Anthony moved on to other
pastures and the group is
now coached by Brother
Carlos Hunter, who continu-
ally introduces different
styles of music to the group.
The Faith Family is blessed
by this group on the third
Sunday of every month.
These men all share a pas-
sion for singing for the Lord
our Master.
Presently there are seven
members: Brothers David
Benjamin, Garth Salmon,
Edward Jackson, Rudolph
Panton, Bevon White,
David Brown and Roy Wil-
liams. We continue to invite
other men to join.

The silent years should indicate
a time of reflection, introspec-
tion and listening. The quieter
we become, the more we hear.
However, we cannot rush the
silent years.
During your silent years you
should:
1. Practice and develop your
gifts. Study.
2. Clarify. Define goals. Reor-
der priorities.
3. Serve (even while you are
hurting).
4. Trust God.
5. Pray
Your silent years should
change your life! You should
come out as a new person!
When you come out, you
should have a new level
of:
1. Knowledge
2. Responsibility
3. Authority/Power
4. Faith
5. Trust

There are times when God will
speak to you and then be silent
for an extended period of time.
Silence does not mean you
have been forsaken by God. It
simply means that God has
spoken, and now is the time to
allow the word that He has
spoken to germinate and come
to pass. Silence is not the same
as peace. Silence is the absence
of noise, but peace is the pres-
ence of God! While you are
going through "silent years,"
you should focus on inner
peace.
Points to
ponder
during the
silent
years are:
1.Is my life
really sub-
mitted to
God?
2. Am I

problems never

they only come

1. The Moravian movement
began with john Hus. He
is considered by many
historians to have been
the first true reformer of
the church, preceding
Martin Luther by a cen-
tury.
2. The official name of the
Moravian Church is the
Unitas Fratrum, or Unity
of Brethren. This was the
original name of the church
when it was founded back in
1457 in the Bohemian for-
ests.

one of the oldest Protestant
denominations, dating back
to 1457 in Europe and first

20 YEARS AS CHOIR DIREC-
TOR.
It seems like only yesterday; my
family moved, and found our new
church home – Faith. It was Easter
of 1993.
I was asked by Bro. Douglas
Robertson to assist the Chancel
Choir for Christmas,1993. An easy
decision given my love for music. I
was invited to remain with the
choir. After serious thought I ac-
cepted on one condition: that they
would trust me to share what I
knew with them for their better-
ment. After weeks of rehearsals
(some very late nights) I made my
debut as the Choir Director on
Easter Sunday, 1994. Thus began
my journey.
We grew, learned about each other,
learned new music and techniques -
all through hard work. Rough
patches were experienced but we
prevailed and delivery was always
to the Glory and Honor of our Lord.
During my journey I have been
blessed to work with the young
people, Men’s Gospel Chorus, the
Women’s Fellowship, many indi-
viduals and two amazing Organists.
Occasionally I also play the piano
and organ for worship.
I never thought my years of study-
ing music (piano and voice) would
have taken me to this place, but I
thank God for the opportunities to
‘give back’ from the fruits of the
talents He gave me.
Thanks to my beloved mother,
Miriam Salmon, who ensured that I
received necessary training. Also to
my husband and daughter for their
encouragement and support. Thanks
to Faith, and more than ever, to the
members of the Chancel Choir over
the years.

Glory!!

Director of the Children of the Gospel, Ms. Michele Fowlin and

started at 7pm and were led by the

brated the Holy Communion.
There was a meditation each night
by our Pastor. Good Friday service
was from 1 to 3 pm. Easter sunrise
service concluded in the Rock
Creek Cemetery. This was fol-
lowed by a sumptuous breakfast,
prepared by the Men’s Fellowship.
