  1. 1. Plastic Water Bottles & Water Bottling Industry SUBMISSION LEVEL 1 OCTALYSIS CERTIFICATE Sameh Ibrahiem Emam November 2019 Mobile Application

Introduction : There is a huge market for water bottles, in the U.S. for example, According to an estimate, around 167 water bottles are used per person annually in the U.S. The country’s annual spending on bottled water is around 11.8 billion. Nearly 30 billion water bottles are sold annually in the country. This shows that there are immense new business opportunities existing in this industry and market. The reason behind choosing this product is my desire to gamify & improve product which I see as a challenge & also my wish to benefit the environment more and create better place for next generations, in fact, my all previous work in teaching and product design are all like that. Because earth is our home and what we do now will reflect on our future soon.
  3. 3. Most of water companies and brands care about what inside the bottle as it is the main reason why people are buying their water. But, they could never build their campaigns on the bottle itself ( unless they are marketing new design or smart use ). Everybody now know that all these bottles will remain on our plant for at least 400 years because it doesn’t decompose! About that problem I was thinking of how can these bottles can be modified to a real gamified product and add some changes and ideas to alter that realty to reach many people as it can and also benefit these companies and above all benefits the environment.

There will be always something left out of all these plastic bottles. People now around the world would never want to be part of the problem rather than being part of the solution. The Solution is bioplastics which can be 100% Recyclable As it will be competitive in price in the coming years. Download the App. , Scan it then Edit, write, draw or attach any photo or video.To allow the opening neck to be attached to it as a building block The void is designed to allow the cap to stick perpendicularly to create many 3D formations

Recycling with this bottle will go to different meaning , the cap ( which I need the user to keep it) has unique QR code, when scanned by (CODY) App. It will open page with either memo, pixels board or attaching button. You could never know what you’ll get (CD7). The bottle itself can be used as building block thanks to its design which can be used to build Pavilions, monuments or even houses for the neglected communities and charity (CD1). With the given possibilities for the content of the QR code and the bottle LEGO buildings the bottle will unleash the creativity of the users (CD3).

(Showy) - People who buy plastic bottles to try deferent tastes and explore new trends and get curious about new designs (Nosy) - People who newly joined gym and began to be healthy to empress real healthy people (Rocky)

With these reasons the bottled water market attracts four players: Showy HealthyNosy Rocky Buy for Self Buy to empress others High consumer Low consumer - People buy plastic bottles because they want to keep fit and healthy like ( athletes, employees, students, etc..) (Healthy) - People who buy water bottles because they want to look like healthy. (Showy) - People who buy plastic bottles to try deferent tastes and explore new trends and get curious about new designs (Nosy) - People who newly joined gym and began to be healthy to empress real and old healthy people (Rocky)

And these are their motivations : Healthy showy • Don’t want to get thirsty • Don’t want to miss the daily water portion • Want to be healthy and fit as a main goal • Always progress to reach optimum healthy state • Feel accomplished when never feel thirsty outside • Feels good when admired as healthy • Wants to have special bottle • Wants to buy high price waters to look rich • Wants to be among the athletes • Don’t want to look unhealthy and fat • Wants to impress others as a healthy and gymholic person • Wants to get admired for choosing the finest brands • Love own body with own special stuff • Always wants to reach the optimum weight

Rocky Nosy • Want to be healthy and fit as a main goal • Always progress to reach optimum healthy state • Feels good and accomplished when try something new • Wants to try any new trends or pure waters to find out the truth • Get very curious about any new trend or design in bottles • Wants to try to know if the water is pure or not. • Love to have own new special stuff for the new change • Wants to impress others and join healthy and gymholic people • Don’t want to be with the unhealthy and fat people anymore These players lake the Meaning core drive but in this situation it is normal because we are all would love to help the environment. In that case, Healthy will do it to achieve higher targets, Nosy would do it to explore more, Showy and rocky would do it to gain respect from others.
  11. 11. Discovery phase 1. Learn about the bottle from T.V or internet commercial. 2. Seeing friend scanning the QR code. 3. Buying the bottle . Onboarding phase 1. Downloading the App. 2. Sign up. 3. Scanning the QR code. 4. Editing: * Typing in the text choice. *Drawing in the pixels board. *Attaching file to the attachment bar. 5. Scan again after edit to see the change in the cap on the App! 6. Buying another bottle and play with permutations (LEGO like). 7. Putting cap inside another bottle. Scaffolding phase 1. Share scanned bottle with others. 2. Buy more bottles to try different shapes and designs. 3. Nominate good content to receive likes and score. 4. Pin good content to make it last forever. 5. Go to home panel frequently. 6. See other nominations and like them Endgame phase 1. Play with (LEGO) like bottles. 2. Share creative content with friends and other users. 3. Collect set of many caps that have special meaning and memory and pinned or nominated content. This Action leads to ( First Major Win-state)

The new bottle design has some core drives to motivate users to try this new bottle but without the QR code and the App. • Giving users the chance to be one of the environment defenders by cleaning the plant from used bottles. • Giving users the chance to help neglected communities to build houses for them by giving the empty bottle back to the company to donate them to these communities • Users can play with formations and designs with the bottles thanks to its design to be building block. • Users can impress others by having unique shape bottle with the concept of saving the environment & being healthy at the same time. • Users feel special by having special bottle as his/her own. • User can collect as many bottles as he/she can to be able to make different designs with it • Giving user the motivation towards cleaning the environment by purchasing many bottles(caps)by being part of the solution. The current experience lake some black hat motivations to attract the healthy to buy this environmental bottle and need some social influence ideas to attract the showy players. Brainstorming has to enhance these core drives with the use of the QR codes on the caps and the App features.

Development & Accomplishment • Score Points Giving the users points when they scan new QR codes and on pinning and nominations. • Likes on nominations Users can give likes on nominated caps which give more score points and speeding leveling up. • Recycled bottles consumption bar Giving sense of Accomplishment. • Advanced UI when level up/ Achievement shelf Giving the user more advanced sittings when leveling up like colored pixels or bigger space to attach which will also indicates high rank when other users see it.

Development & Accomplishment • Nomination button Users can nominate his/her best work to be shown to other users by paying amount of money. • Easter eggs with bigger space Users can have Easter egg (Special Cap) with bigger space for drawing or attaching. • Nomination home button Users can nominate their best work and have likes which motivate users to make creative and new contents. • LEGO bottles Users can play with formations and designs with the bottles thanks to its design to be building block. Ownership & Possession • Cap Avatar Caps have cute avatar indicates the status of the cap between ( sleep/empty – alive – pinned – nominated – ill ) which move the user to take care of it. • Pin button Caps have to be pinned in order to stay alive. • Unique QR code for every cap Caps have unique QR codes and you cannot display or know its content unless you scan it, giving the real cap meaning.

Scarcity & impatience • Score points Users will want to increase their score to level up with all the features to help them create more beautiful content. • Advanced UI Users will want to level up and use the new features to help them create more beautiful content. Unpredictability & curiosity • Recycled bottles consumption bar Giving user the motivation to question about what will happen when we consume all the recycled bottles • Scanning QR code User will always unaware of the content of any cap specially the new ones!
