5. 2022 Achievements :
Village Library & Information Resources
The visits to library improved greatly post Covid-19
◦ 815 Annual total village library visits.
◦ 68 Monthly average visits (we get 12 visitors in a
day on peek days).
◦ 612 visits were by children of the total
◦ 408 girls and 402 boy visits
◦ 138 women and 68 men visits
◦ 5 primary schools with over 2,250 pupils need our
services. We do single mobile visit to each school
monthly due to limited resources.
We received Book Donations
◦ 150 books from Book Aid international
◦ 25 books from Roberta and Tom Spencer
◦ 20 books from Judy Kelly
◦ 15 books procured

7. 2022 Achievements :
Village Library & Information Resources
◦ A donation of over 150 books by Book Aid
International were transported as bus cargo
from Kampala to Mbarara. We received
them with joy by Boda boda or motocycle
taxi. This was through (UgCLA)
◦ Our volunteer Librarians cataloging the
books.

9. The ICT Digital Camp Oct-Nov 2022
In partnershipwithMAENDELEOFoundation we brought a
bus withcomputers to our village.
◦ ICT skills are important in the present world
◦ We held 10 days ICT Camp for Community
◦ This was the first time many computers were in our
village
◦ 112 trained on basic computer skills 12 Men, 25
Women, 39 Youth and 36 Pupils (Upper Primary
school)
◦ Community Leaders and Members of Parliament
attend opening and closing ceremonies of the
training.
◦ The village library gained visibility

11. Menstrual hygiene Initiative School Going Girls
◦ Menstrual hygiene is vital to the empowerment
and well-being of women and girls
◦ 10% of all girls drop of school due to poor
menstrual hygiene issues
◦ 60% of the girl-pupils absent themselves
◦ limited availability of feminine hygiene
◦ Products are expensive for most families
◦ We want to address this issue in our community
◦ We are training girls to make reusable pads
◦ 285 girls were trained in the Itegyero and
Kikonko Primary School
◦ 25 Adults trained on menstrual hygiene &
making reusable pads too.
13. Spiritual well being
◦ A big percentage of people in Uganda are not
able to purchase for themselves a bible.
◦ Like other communities in Uganda, ours is also
spiritual. Spiritual literature including bibles are
highly treasured.
◦ In partnership with the Bible Society of Uganda we
distributed 100 Bibles to Kikonko, Kiso- Karera ,
God’s Grace and Itegyero Primary Schools.
◦ We also distributed devotional materials to
members of the community and teachers at the
neighboring Schools.
◦ Children were mostly appreciative of these
materials. Majority were receiving a printed book to
own it personally for the first time in their lives.
14. Essay competitions Children in Primary Schools in our community
◦ We carried out any essay competition in 4
Primary schools and they were marked by a
professional educationist and the winners
were thanked for their participation.
◦ We plan to be able to award the participants
with gifts in the next competition.
◦ Kikonko, Itegyero, Kiso Karera and God’s
grace Primary schools participated.
15. We now Members of the Uganda Community Libraries Association
With your support, we were able to meet all the
requirements and to subscribe to become
members of the Uganda community Libraries
Association (UgCLA)
In June 2022, 3 People Cathy the Volunteer
Coordinator, Simon the Chairperson of the
Executive Committee and Shivani the Volunteer
Librarian attend the 3 days UgCLA Conference
and Annual General Meeting (AGM)

17. Honey fromthe Bees contributes to the amounts
For every sale of honey from the farm, a percentage goes directly to
contribute to administration needs of the Library

In 2023 we will continue to do more.
Some of the estimates of our needs in USD
are:
◦ $1450 for 2 additional computers.
◦ $1000 for more Ugandan school Curriculum
Books and Reading Resources.
◦ $ 450 for additional bookshelves.
◦ $1500 to complete the children play.
◦ $ 300 for 2 sawing machines to support the
menstrual hygiene initiative apprenticeship
skills for girls and women.
◦ $ 600 for to cover transport for 2 volunteers
for 12 months.
◦ $1230 for motorcycle to support mobilize
library need
