Birds of Nepal
There are over hundreds of thousands of
bird species all over the world.
None of the places have a more diverse
selection than that of birds of Nepal.
The bird species of Nepal can be subdivided
into 3 major categories:
1. The Accidental
2. The Endemic
3. The Introduced
The accident species are species that have
over the course of evolution accidentally
showed up in the Nepal region
The endemic species are the ones who are
endemic in Nepal and have no outside
influence since very early in their evolution
The introduced species are species
brought to Nepal by humans in an effort
to breed, domesticate, hunt or even raise
them for our own purposes
Of the approximately 900 bird species
within Nepal…
2 are endemic
1 is introduced by humans
74 rare species are accidental
32 are globally threatened and endangered

These are but a small fraction of the
many species of birds of Nepal…
With the prevalence of pollution and
the mismanagement of people, we may
never even get the chance to discover
more of their species.
