Understanding Why The Wholesaler Does What He Or She Does
	Every newcomer in the business of online retailing has to go through a rough phase in the beginning. At first, they may encounter difficulties that they did not anticipate, and the existence of these difficulties will make no sense to them. After all, who would assume that finding a wholesaler would be so difficult? In the planning stage,  we just assume we will get the same deal as an acquaintance did. But, when you actually hit the road and go to the wholesale UK eBay suppliers, you find out that the truth is quite different. First of all, locating a good wholesaler is in itself an accomplishment, and so is talking to them and finally getting them to deal with you. Here are some aspects from the wholesaler’s perspective. The Story behind Minimal Marketing 	If you have ever tried locating a wholesaler, you will know how difficult it is. The amount of time that you use trying to get lists, asking people, and networking is huge. For everything else that you ever wanted to buy, information should be available so easily. After all, we live in the information age. However, any wholesaler only does minimal marketing. Here is the reason why. Firstly, their operations are really difficult. They deal on really thin margins. If some planning failure occurs, they are likely to run a loss. The small margin makes it unviable for them to spend money on advertising. They expect to deal with only credible buyers who pay them on time. That is the reason why they believe in networks and expect their current buyers to bring in new ones that they recommend. This gives them a sense of comfort because they get better customers than they would by advertising, and they do not have to spend anything on it.
The Story Behind Minimum Purchases  	As mentioned earlier, the wholesaler is running on thin margins. To add to this, they do not have firsthand information about the trends in the market. They are dependant on you to give them the information in time so that they can plan their purchases from the manufacturer accordingly. However, unless your money is on the line, you are not very likely to take it seriously. Hence, to mitigate this uncertainty, almost all wholesalers subscribe to the system of minimum purchases. Here, you are contractually guaranteed to buy a certain amount of goods as per your order commitment. The wholesaler will explain their cycle to you, and you may have the option to change your minimum purchases. However, some wholesalers misuse this clause to sell slow-moving items to retailers. So, beware of what you are committing to as negligence could have an adverse impact.
The Story Behind The Reluctance To Sell 	 A typical wholesaler faces a dilemma. The manufacturer sells to them a basket of products. Some of them are fast moving, whereas some others may be slow moving. Buyers you will ask only for fast-moving goods. So over time, the wholesaler is faced with a situation wherein they have an excess of demands for certain goods but no demand for the others. Hence, they give priority to those people who buy some amount of slow-moving goods as well. A good way to get a wholesaler to quickly accept your offer is to buy slow-moving goods.
Every wholesaler is therefore perfectly rational in their behavior. We only need to understand what is valuable for them and offer it. Once you know the tricks of the trade, you will have no problems in coming up with your supply chain.
