This virtual panel session is a co-hosted event between AAEEBL and ePortfolios Australia to explore the topic of digital ethics and eportfolios.
Panellists from both regions will draw on their own research and/or experience to discuss:
- What does digital ethics and eportfolios mean?
- What does digital ethics and eportfolios look like now?, and
- What does digital ethics and eportfolios look like when it is working well?
Our session MC’s, Prof Patsie Polly, Helen L Chen and Kevin Kelly, will then lead a discussion around how we, as a global eportfolio community, define and grow this field of thought together.
Panellists include:
Australia
- Dr Christine Slade
- Dr Misty Kirby
North America
- Megan Crowley-Watson
- Megan-Haskins

7. Background
During the 2018 AAEEBL Annual Meeting, members identified a
need for guiding principles to support their practice with digital
ethics in the context of outward-facing ePortfolios. In response,
AAEEBL formed a task force of ePortfolio scholars and
practitioners to develop principles, strategies, and resources for
general use.

We are the international community of practice for ePortfolio practitioners and researchers. Our aim is to share resources, best practices, and research to enable the effective integration of ePortfolios for deep learning and engagement.
Our community contributes to the field to make evidence of learning visible.
We are a rich network of educators and researchers and our collective work aims to provide a host of resources for those interested in effectively leveraging ePortfolios for student learning and engagement on their campuses. Open resources, such as our Field Guide to ePortfolios and our academic magazine, the AAEEBL ePortfolio Review are just two examples of the materials available to assist colleagues internationally to use ePortfolio practices and pedagogies well. Our members participate in collaborative design and research projects, enjoy discounted event registrations, and are able to serve on the AAEEBL Board and sub-committees, among other benefits.
