IntroductionIt is not terrorist bombs or the release of anthrax spores that spawned the birth of modern day emergency preparedness. USS Cole IntroductionIt began with a wildfire in Southern California in 1970 that swept through several counties during a 13 day period burning more than half a million acres, destroying over 700 structures, and costing 16 lives. FIRESCOPEthe 92nd Congress approved funding for the U.S. Forest Service Research group to design a system or process to significantly improve the capacity of the agencies in Southern California to provide protection against wildfires. This became known as FIRESCOPE (Firefighting Resources of California Organized for Potential Emergencies). FIRESCOPE There were five major program components that required planning and attention. The coordination of the resources among many agencies during a large incident, Creating a standard and easily understood terminology by all participants to avoid the use of professional jargon that would differ among police, fire, and emergency medical responders, Code Four-----I'm okay or Are you okay? Police Fire departments almost never use this term. FIRESCOPE Develop systems and technical capacity that would permit communication among many participating agencies, Provide training to all members of the participating agencies in communication, terminology, and command structure, and Develop better methods for predicting the behavior of fires. Incident CommandThese objectives were ultimately condensed into two components of the FIRESOPE system designated as:Incident Command System (ICS) that provided a specific command structure and coordinated incident management tool.Multi-Agency Coordination System (MACS) that improved coordination among multiple agencies for large incidents that demanded massive resources. ICSICS structure and successfully employed ICS on a number of wildland and urban fires in 1978. The use of ICS expanded to non-fire incidents. The management of these incidents was “all-hazard” as they employed the well documented and proven command structure of ICS to a wide variety of incidents. NIIMSInitial steps to extend this ICS management structure began in 1983 with the creation of the National Inter-Agency Incident Management System (NIIMS). Recently, some of the most shocking incidents have taken place on the grounds of highly esteemed colleges and universities, institutions that exist to better society. These occurrences have helped highlight the need for authorities to have effective countermeasures in place to address threats to campus safety. Understanding the importance of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to colleges and universities requires a recognition of what it means to emergency response capabilities. NIMS was developed in March 2004 by the Department of Homeland Security to provide a system- atic, proactive approach for government agencies at all levels, nongovernment organizations, and the private sector to work seamlessly to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects of incidents—regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity—to reduce the loss of life, destruction of property, and harm to the environment. It gives campuses a much-needed method of protection. UNDERSTANDING NIMS What It Offers A recent report funded through the Illinois Criminal Justice Authority examined the relationship between local law enforcement and postsecondary institutions in Illinois and across the nation.1 One of its key find- ings revealed that many campuses have experienced critical incidents of some sort within September 2009 / 15 “ ”Chief Fazzini heads the College of DuPage Police Department in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. …NIMS offers a predefined, yet flexible, organizational structure that can be altered, as necessary, to ensure maximum effectiveness…. the past 5 years. Considering this fact, along with the importance of NIMS to the effective and efficient planning for or response to an emergency incident, every college and univer- sity should become compliant. Institutions also can reap important financial benefits. Responding to and recovering from an emergency can cost a considerable amount of money. Only organizations that have implemented NIMS can recoup any portion of such expenses from the federal government. Additionally, NIMS offers a predefined, yet flexible, organizational structure that can be altered, as necessary, to ensure maximum effectiveness during small operations or complex responses and extended in scope if an incident grows in size. We’re going to tell you all about the Flutterwave Scandal in a way that’s easy to get. Keep reading, because we’re going to share the whole story with you. The company Flutterwave is headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States. In 2016, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Olugbenga Agboola, and Adeleke Adekoya established Flutterwave. It offers a payment infrastructure to international merchants and payment service providers throughout Africa. The company operates in various African countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, and others. They focus on digital payments, helping businesses accept and process payments on various channels like the web, mobile, ATM, and POS. Recently, they’ve been in the news due to allegations of misconduct within the company, which has affected their reputation and value. Flutterwave is an essential player in the African fintech landscape, aiming to drive growth for banks and businesses through digital payment solutions. The Flutterwave scandal involves allegations of misconduct and inappropriate behaviour towards female employees by the company’s co-founder and CEO, Olugbenga Agboola. Reports have surfaced from both current and former employees about bullying, intimidation, and sexual harassment at work. The allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards female employees at Flutterwave, specifically involving the CEO Olugbenga Agboola, were brought to public attention in April 2022.This was when Clara Wanjiku Odero, an ex-employee and current CEO of Credrails, published a Medium post and a series of tweets on April 4, 2022, accusing Flutterwave and Agboola of bullying. These allegations were part of a broader range of misconduct claims that surfaced around the same time The reasons behind the scandal are rooted in accusations of unethical behavior within the company. The allegations suggest a workplace culture that allowed for misconduct and failed to protect employees from harassment and intimidation. Specifically, the Flutterwave scandal refers to the series of events where the CEO was accused of engaging in improper conduct with female colleagues. This led to a broader investigation into the company’s practices and raised serious concerns about the fintech’s corporate governance. The scandal had significant repercussions, including a drop in the company’s stock price and a loss of trust among customers and partners. The trust that customers and investors had in Flutterwave was greatly damaged. People started to doubt the company’s integrity and whether their money and personal information were safe. Market Impact The scandal shook the entire fintech market. Flutterwave’s competitors saw this as an opportunity and started to attract customers who were leaving Flutterwave.

This our Twelfth semiannual report on the global Cryptocurrency mining industry. Bitcoin is the world’s largest special purpose supercomputer. And it is globally decentralized. Millions of nodes all run the same open-source code to secure the Bitcoin network, create value, and put new transactions onto the distributed ledger. The latest Top500 list has just been announced at the ISC 2024 conference in Hamburg, and once again the Frontier supercomputer with 1.2 Exaflops peak performance is number one on the list. If assigned to SHA-256 hashing, Frontier would provide only the equivalent hash rate of about three cabinets of the latest high-end Bitcoin mining systems, costing less than 0.1% of Frontier’s cost. Michael Saylor, Chairman of MicroStrategy, has pointed out that GPUs are two orders of magnitude slower than the 5-nanometer technology of custom ASICs used for Bitcoin mining today. He makes the point that the Bitcoin network is unassailable by all of the hyperscale computing resources combined in AWS, Google, and Microsoft Azure cloud data centers today.

Foundation behind why cross boundary relationship is effective. September 1970 – Severe fires in California. Many local, state and federal agencies responded but we had many problems (coordination, communication, and terminology) .
Adopted as the international standard at the 3 rd International Wildland Fire Conference in Sydney, Australia in 2003.
