Personal Experience As A Student
From my personal experience, as a student a person who research about students and on how they
become successful is very interesting, for me, it's exceptional to study for your classes while
working concentrated. That's how students become successful to me, and it doesn't matter if you're
going to a normal or same single–sex school as long as you are able to learn what you need in order
to live a normal life. I go to a school where there are males and females of all kinds from my
observation, everyone in gender is the same, we all get acceptable grades and I have noticed
people work absolutely consolidated just to keep it that way. In my school, we bear extra–curricular
activities for students after school comparable sports, dance, work club, crown, Bros, and GSA club
these actually aid students follow and assist them master how to communicate with others. In the
article Kewauna's Ambition" by Paul Tough argues about the studentseducation should always work
hard and if you can't figure out, request for guidance which can be very understandable considering,
since the girl he interviewed from the article he stated that "she went through each red–starred word
with him, one by one, asking him to explain" (3). This quote is stating that everyone should have
at least a chance to help or seek aid from a teacher so they can improve their understanding of the
lessons. However, we should have a place an education or social–support systems in our schools
already. Throughout my

Last weekend my beautiful friend Yamuna was married in a storm of confetti and colour and I
have never experienced anything like it. The air was close and we spent the weekend in a haze of
heat and sunshine, sleeping on a rooftop under the stars and celebrating their love. (I can't explain
just how special it is to know that our first Indian marriage was the love marriage of such a dear
friend). We travelled out to her village– a nine hour drive from Hyderabad– by semi–sleeper bus.
The adventures began early, as at quarter past four in the morning the bus stopped and we all got
off to stretch our legs. Outside the sky was clear, icy black with abundant stars. We trailed behind a
group of sari–clad women down a dusty street in the darkness, not entirely sure of where we were,
looking for a washroom. We passed a building and one of them said "It is open only." Naively I
think this means the bathroom is inside, and unlocked. It turned out that in rural India "open" doesn't
mean unlocked but non–existent. We walk further down, and suddenly about a dozen of these
sari–clad women squat together, to do their business on a quiet patch of the roadside. I think it's
fair to say that whatever I thought culture shock was when I first arrived here was nothing to what
I felt last weekend. Everything was so different to our Hyderabad home. It felt like I was relearning
how to conquer India all over again.
The bus deposits us in one village, about five am, and we climb off looking

Personal Experience Essay Watching my brothers graduate from college and move to far–off
locations, doing interesting, fulfilling work and having exciting lives filled me with envy. On
Sundays when they would load up their new cars to drive back to their jobs in neighboring states,
I wished I could go along, just to hang out in one of their apartments and see what life was like on
my own. Monday arrived too soon, like a rocket powered by the most potential caffeine and
urgency imaginable, and I was back to school. I could hardly wait to get through my own classes
at the local university and get out on my own, with them. One lived in San Diego and despite the
reputation of California of being expensive to live in, he had somehow found an apartment that
was less than many in our home city. With the goal of moving to the same apartment building as
my brother, I was galvanized on finishing the school year as quickly as I could and moving out to
San Diego to spend the summer with him. I envisioned we'd have a great time together. At the
end of June my finals were done and I promptly packed up my car and drove to San Diego. I
arrived at my brother's apartment on a Saturday evening. He and his friends helped me unpack my
car, and we settled in. The first weekend was fun; he and his friends took me to many of the fun
places to visit including downtown San Diego, Mission Beach, and La Jolla. When Monday rolled
around my brother was up and out the door by 7:15am to get to work on

Eye–opening, thought–provoking, and informative are just three words which can be used to
describe my experience from taking this expository writing course. Coming into the course, I was a
bit unsure what to expect from it. For instance, I wondered whether this would be a class where we
will write a bunch of fruitless essays or whether this class will sticks to its theme race in America and
spark meaningful discussion among students of various backgrounds. Fortunately, it ended up being
the latter and was a lot better than I had initially expected – despite it still being a Friday afternoon
bomb.
The two main goals I set for myself in my initial self–assessment paper were to not be afraid of
expressing my true thoughts and be more open–minded. I definitely believe that I achieved both of
the goals. As proven by my contributions to class discussions and what I shared in my essays, I
become comfortable expressing my true thoughts. Although discussions on the theme of our course
could become controversial, I believe that we created a safe space in our class where anyone could
share their thoughts without the fear of being judged by another student or you, the professor. To be
more open–minded towards the different opinions of various scholars which we came across over
the course of the semester, I tried to do away with any implicit biases I may have come into the
class with. This allowed me to better study and analyze the different sources without any
presumptions. One reason I know that I was successful in eliminating any implicit bias I may
have had is because of the results provided by Harvard's implicit bias test. The thing that shocked
me the most over the course of the semester was the results I received after taking Harvard's
implicit bias test again in the end of the semester. When I first took the test, I felt like I was being
set up to show a bias against Black people and of course, the results suggested that I may have a
slight automatic preference for White people over Black people. However, last week, when I took
the test for the second time, the results explained, "Your data suggest a slight automatic preference
for Dark Skinned People over Light Skinned People." This is the opposite result of

My Personal Experience With Prejudice Essay
In any society, how we see ourselves and how others treat us depends on many factors. Race,
ethnicity, and cultural background are identifiers of individuals. Most people have confronted
prejudice based on these identifiers, either personally experiencing discrimination or knowing
someone who has. Beyond ensuring organizational compliance with a country's anti–discrimination
laws, it is incumbent upon managers to support diversity in the workplace and to be culturally
competent. This paper will assess my personal experience with prejudice in the workplace, including
the implications of the situation to the organization in terms of its stakeholders, reputation, and its
legal responsibilities. Furthermore, I will analyze the negative effects the discriminatory behavior
had on morale and functioning of coworkers and employees. Lastly, I will recommend three action
steps that I would have taken as a manager to avoid the situation, in addition to three steps to render
the situation.
Summary of Discriminatory Behavior While in college, I worked at a local country club as a
part–time employee. My manager was young and relatively new to the position, however, upon
hire, he seemed like he had the appropriate skills to lead the guest services team. As servers, we
were responsible for taking and delivering orders, bussing tables and ensuring overall member
satisfaction with the food and service quality of the club. There were many servers on the team, and
most of us were

Personal Experience with Writing
I have always considered writing to be a work in progress, and it constantly can be improved. I have
always been devoted to writing. I loved to write stories as a child because I could use my creativity
and create any type of character I desired. But I have struggled with writing as well. English has
never been my forte. I have received A's, B's, C's, and D's on essays. I truly never found my voice in
writing. In my high school, English teachers would give me mixed reviews on my writing. For
example, in 9th grade my English teacher said I was organized with my thoughts, and my writing
process was excellent. While in 10th,11th grade ,12th grade my teachers only said negative things
about my essays. Not being a strong writer made me...show more content...
The essay prompts, that I was given allowed me to challenge myself. The essay prompts were
challenging because each essay I had to approach it differently. For each essay, I wanted to be
creative on how I would approach it. As a writer, you have always change you writing. It was
challenging to decide how I wanted to structure each essay. But, challenge is the key towards
being a perfect writer. Finally, reflecting on English 114A/B my attitude and style of writing has
changed. My attitude has changed because now I see writing as being therapeutic. I see writing
as something to help me relieve stress. It allows me release my feelings, rather than expressing
my words to someone. Also, my style of writing has changed. Taking the English stretch course at
CSUN allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, I was able to let go of the five
paragraph essay. It was hard, but I was able to do it slowly. Moreover, I was able to let go of the
habit of starting all my essay's with a quote. It was not easy to be open to changing my writing
style. I had to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, some people are scared of change
because they believe that change is bad, because you do not know what to expect. I was not scared
to change my writing style because I look as change as challenge, and the opportunity to start
something new. Adjusting my writing style was a challenge, but I was able to do it. It is

I have had the great opportunity to be apart of a great program and class at college. Most of us who
are going to become teachers know about this class and the required 80 hours of volunteering at a
middle school for a semester. I was eager to volunteer, because I have experience in working with
middle school kids. The school I work for, has prepared me to handle school aged kids, so I was
relying on my background to carry me though the semester at a new Middle school.
The privileges of a private school are a lot different from an inner city school. When I began to
volunteer at Baker I was shocked to discover that the students were not allowed to take books home

Hanson. Mr. Hanson is a teacher in the special education department at Baker. Mr. Hanson explained
to me that these students are in the special education classes so they can gain the skills to eventually
re–enter the normal public school classes. Mr. Hanson explained to the students who I was, why I
was here, and how long I was staying.
The class I could see wasn't very enthusiastic about my added presence in their classroom. I
debated on the technique I would use to gain their trust and respect. Imagine a frozen lake and
every step you take is a risk, because you are not sure if the ice is going to hold or crack and break
right under you. This is exactly how I felt the first week of my volunteering at Baker. I will be
honest; my first week wasn't the greatest, because I was learning the ropes of the special education
department. These kids in the special education program not only have to deal with their ADD, and
other diagnosis, but they also have to deal with poverty. I was told by Mr. Hanson that most of the
students in the special education department never graduate, because education is not an important
factor in their life. Most of their parents/parent want the kids to be home helping to either take care
of younger siblings while working or to help out at home.
As the weeks progressed, I found the job more enjoyable, because once the students felt comfortable
with a new element in their classroom

What Is My Personal Experience Essay
Everyone has been through a personal experience, whether it has changed their lives for better or
worse. These experiences can be eclectic events such as going out to explore the world or even
devastating events such as tragic accidents. My personal experience occurred a year ago during the
summer when I took a trip to visit San Francisco, California with my family. This trip to San
Francisco was a thrilling adventure due to the city being very beautiful and breathtaking. During
my visit to the city I was able to take part in the beaches, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Six Flags.
To begin with, the beaches near San Francisco are stunning. California has nice weather during the
summer to attend beaches because it is not too hot or chilly outside....show more content...
My family and I were able to cross the famous bridge a few times in the car as we traveled a bit
around California. The view from the bridge was beautiful during the day and as well at night. It
was nice during the day to see the sun sparkling on the water as boats sailed by, but appealing
during nightfall because of the bright lights on the bridge. Also, the city lights around it brought
out the overall awe of the bridge. During one of our passing on the bridge, we were able to make a
quick stop at the top of the hill and take a few family pictures together with the bridge. My brother
would tease me every time anyone brings up our visit to the Golden Gate Bridge because I was
afraid to stand near the edge of the mountain to take our family photos since I imagined I was
going to slip and fall. Furthermore, as we traveled through the bridge I had noticed telephone
posts on either side of the bridge. These telephones were for the suicidal people who thought it
was time to end their lives. The telephones were used to connect those who were suicidal to a
counselor to help talk them out of committing such a tragedy. They may have helped saved plenty
lives. It has been known by many that the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the many bridges that
countless of people tend to go to in order to attempt

An Experience that changed my Life
Life is full of learning and it is mostly due to our daily life experiences. These experiences are
mostly based on our surrounding environment from where we learn new things every day. But all
these experiences are a result of our keen observations out of daily routines. It is very important to
note that life also provides us with some chances to experience new people or places that are indeed
out of the ordinary. That is thetime we indeed learn new and unique things, hence these are unique
experiences of our life which are remembered by us throughout our life span. I have visited USA
and this was indeed a life time experience. Going through new and strikingly important things really
made me filled up with pleasure. It was indeed very joyful and marvelous experience. I am very
happy and expecting many more things and unique experience coming my way and making me
enjoy new and exciting things.
USA is a place which is full of new experiences that is what makes it even more exciting due to all
kinds of diversity in food in recreation and work; hence everything here is much more diverse
than a normal place available for recreation anywhere in the world. This was the first time in my
life when I was to go overseas and I really enjoyed this, it was indeed marvelous experience when I

I have logic to testify my statement in terms of the reference that USA being an economic hub
invites people from all parts of the world. One can always have the chance to meet many diverse
people belonging to different cultures, traditions and lifestyles. So, one can enjoy a small world
here in USA. I met people from different parts of the Asia–Pacific region, Thailand, Singapore,
Malaysia, Africa, Europe, Russia and Indonesia. Many of them were my online friends and we
really enjoyed meeting each other in the practical world rather than the virtual world for the very first

Personal Experience with Crisis We have all experience some form of crisis in our life. Whether it
is minor or more severe, it is something that many of us can not control. A crisis can involve a
series of stressful events or one difficult point in life that effects a person's overall well–being. I had
a hard time coming up with what to write as my crisis for this assignment because when I hear the
word crisis, the first thing that comes to mind is that crisis is a very severe event such as a war
or natural disaster. As I read more in depth about the concept of crisis, I found that it does not have
to be something as serious as a war. It can simply be a point in life where you face a difficult
situation that makes you feel under...show more content...
Although some may not consider this a crisis, it was for me. This was a crisis for me because I
moved from Ghana where the culture, language, people and overall atmosphere was different. The
transition to move to a different country and learn a new culture and language was a stressful and
difficult time in my life. I felt alone and out of place because I did not have friends and when I
did, I could not understand or make a conversation with them for a long time. The phase in the crisis
cycle most relatable to my experience is phase 2 – The intensification stage. In this phase,
individuals feel a loss of internal control causing frustration, fear and anger. This stage is most
relevant to my experience because I felt frustrated and a loss of internal control. What caused this
crisis was me moving to Canada and not knowing the culture or English. I would not have
experienced the crisis if I knew English and Canadian culture. Due to my circumstances, there was
nothing I could have done to stop the crisis from happening. The behaviour of my peers and people
around me during the crisis was both positive and negative, I was bullied and felt that my class
mates were judging me for my accent

My Personal Experience In My Life
For an individual to be a success, it is imperative to possess qualities beyond intellect. To flourish
in your career and in life, your character must drive you toward your aspirations. Throughout life,
several experiences have molded me into a person of resilience, empathy, and composure. Such
values have allowed me to reach my goals and serve my community. In supplement to my
intelligence, these assets render me an exceptional student and employee. The ability to be resilient
is at the core of who I am, and the challenges that have created this strength have taught me empathy.
Because of my weight, I faced bullying often and found liberation in sports and exercise. Eventually,
I lost fifty pounds and ascended the social ladder. With...show more content...
When my grandfather suffered from a massive heart attack, and was brain dead upon
resuscitation, I started practicing composure. Once taken life support, his heart kept beating for
a week. Because my parents raised me to be strong and to put others before myself, I spent the
week supporting my grandmother and taking care of my grandfather's body. I never thought I
could handle something like that, but for my grandfather, I would do anything. That week I truly
put others before myself; staying at the hospital until the early morning, then driving straight to
class, and back to the hospital again. During this time was when I knew to pick a vocation where
I could be of assistance to others. Helping to care for my grandfather is what led me to my job as
a nursing assistant. This is when I began discovering my love for service and developing myself
as a woman for others. At work, there were days when I wanted to break down and cry in front
patients due to the pain I felt at the inability of myself and the healthcare system to cure their
illness, but I did not cry. Instead, I would tell them that they could handle it, and they are capable
of more than they realize; that I hurt for them and that I was remorseful there is nothing further I
could do. No matter how terrible my day had been, there was no other option but to walk in that
room and act like I had the best day of my life and that is composure. Lucky enough to have the

Why are personal experiences influence to a person 's thoughts and how does it impact on his or
her future jobs both directly and indirectly? Lingiardi, Tanzilli and Colli (2015) mentioned that an
advisor 's enthusiastic reaction to a patient can be seen as a wellspring of profitable symptomatic and
helpful data, which means the emotional response of a therapist is very important to the patients and
the patients would further absorb it or abstain from the therapy. In addition, it is important to find out
what the reasons behind to steer towards a person 's thoughts. As a therapeutic recreation
practitioner, it is important to develop a professional philosophy statement which would reflect my
roles and especially the relationship with clients. Under those circumstances, having a positive mind
would be one of the emphases that inseparable in order to corporate the values into daily activities.
To develop a personal philosophy statement, it would base on my personal background and values,
and professional aspiration, which will influence my future ambition.
Life experiences are the main element that having the greatest influence on my ability as a

Personal Experience: College Life
College was very much a paradox for me. College was the most challenging experiences in my
life, and yet one of the best experiences I have ever had. During my undergraduate years, I met
new people, took exciting courses, and learned to live without the daily guidance of my parents.
And most of all, I was able to learn more about myself. After my first year, the pressure of living
on campus, friends, and classes began to take a toll on me. I began to fall apart. I worked two
jobs to support myself, knowing that I could not ask my parents frequently for money due to their
own financial burdens at home. I had to constantly deal with the upheaval from my relationships
with roommates, friends, and family. I began dealing with anxiety, and my confidence level
dropped considerably. My schoolwork began to suffer, and I began to withdraw from my friends
and family. There were times when I cried almost every day and felt as though I could not carry
on. The hardest part of all of this was putting on a façade for the people around me as though
everything was perfectly okay. I still wanted people to see my as the happy, smiling person that
was always in a good mood. Seeing that my grades had plummeted and realizing that I was going
through a depressed time in my life, made me take a stand to make changes in my life. I knew I
could not sit around dwelling in my despair while life passed me by. I am a firm believer in the
phrase, "if you see something in your life you do not like, then

My Personal Experience
Although we've all experienced any degree of disappointments in our lives, there are a select few
that tend to stick with us. They act as assets in our lives, tools to use help us grow. The way a
person deals with disappointment speaks volume about who someone is. Personally, I am the
kind of person who likes to have constants in my life; commodities that won't change and those
that I can depend on when everything else is unstable. When I was in my second year of middle
school, one of my biggest constants was my band director, Ms. Palmer. The way my school district
operated, all the middle school directors would also help in the mornings at the high school band
class. As a result of this, once my brother and sister left our middle school,...show more content...
This shattered all confidence I had for going to high school, all hope for comfort I previously had.
All of a sudden, my main constant dissolved. The only thing that I had going for me, the safety
net in my life ceased to provide comfort. From this event, I feel that I learned a great deal about
how I personally coped with disappointment and major changes in my life. After tears had been
shed and the questions were answered, I had an opportunity to develop and to mature from this.
After adequate contemplation, I realized that it wasn't the best idea to depend on other people so
deeply. In my youth, I had been raised and taught how to be independent and to care for myself,
making sure that I could give myself all I needed to become successful. This loss of someone
turned out to be invaluably important in my life and further reinforced my idea that the only
person you should depend on is yourself. Though this sounds grim, I am able to attribute much of
my success to my personal independence. I've learned how to set goals for myself, how to motivate
myself to try and rise above negative situations and develop from them. Ms. Palmer leaving sparked
my first internal revision that has thus led to a personal reflection resulting in the mindset I possess
now. Several years later, I have the ability to reflect upon myself in a more timely and constructive
manner. Looking at situations like these in a useful light, disappointments are a fantastic

First and Foremost, I have had many personal experiences throughout the short course of my life,
and I'm sure everyone has had a lot of personal experiences to. Some even that are they are life

when I was smaller I could remember the love and attention I would get from my mother and step

point I was jumping up and down next to her bed. We left the hospital about 1 hours later due to
my mom's health and strength growing more over the last hour. Afterward, we soon arrived
home and I was beat. So I slipped into my P'Js and quickly went to sleep, so that I could see my
baby sister the next day. It's early in the morning and I hear a noise that is very hard to ignore. IT
WAS VERY ANNOYING!!!!!! I soon find out from my mother that it was my baby sister making
that sound. I guess babies do that when they're hungry since they can't talk. My mom and I were
supposed to go to the park today to watch birds and sit on the swing and have fun, but she told me
that she needs to take care of my sister, so we couldn't go today. My mom told me today to just

College, from what I heard from people say, is a time that you would not forget. From coming
from such a far away place I did not really know what to expect. I was expecting some changes, but
not the changes that I experienced over the past semester. I have changed as a person with greater
openness of others' ideas and topics. I have changed with more independent from my parents and I
have changed with more knowing of determining who I want to be, and I have changed by being
more understanding that a person has to ask questions or otherwise, when in doubt people will not
communicate with you. This past semester has been a time of self growth, which in turn has caused
me to be a much different person that I had started out with.
There were multiple times where I saw and heard other people's experiences and ideas. One of
these times was in our Perspectives class, because of the many discussions from the class, as a
whole, and of the specialty group focusing on political ideology. I changed with the moderation of
views regarding economic policies, however, I am still fervent on my current views on social
issues. Another time I have broadened my outlook is when I normally walk around with some
friends and then they occasionally they open up about themselves. Prior to SU, I felt there was no
person out there who had experienced or understood what I had to deal with my mother and my
secluded life. Every person in SU that I have met had something with them that had a direct

My Personal Experience Through Art
Art is such a powerful mechanism in terms of expression. Personally I tend to channel my emotions
into my art to allow for an honest and thought–provoking image. Emotion and expression is the basis
of art as mentioned in the above quote which I think beautifully sums up the foundation of all
artworks. Personal experience is also beneficial to the artists and I can identify with this. By
personifying my personal experiences through art I am able to express myself in a unique way as
well as use it as a form of venting. This is when you can see and feel the raw emotion through the
work of the artist. That is why personal experience is so important, you can identify with the fear
they could have felt through a certain experience or event. An artist who I think has fully lived up to
this is Frida Kahlo. Kahlo was a surrealist artist who expressed herself through art. She went through
tons of emotional suffering with her husband cheating on her with her sister as well as physical
suffering in which she spent several months in hospital after a fatal bus accident. Being put through
so much emotional toll she channeled these emotions through art. We can therefore identify with the
suffering she experienced through her lifetime. Her images are confrontational conversely to my
images that are subtler. I was therefore inspired by her to be more upfront and provoking with my art
through symbolism of suffering.
Similarly, I wanted to express my inner emotions and make myself vulnerable

So, there I sat, seat G4 on the train headed to nowhere. I didn't have a destination; I never really

always liked trains. I don't know what it was about them, but for some reason or another, I always
found myself lounging in the same spot drinking hot cocoa. People always said that hot chocolate
"was only for kids" but I never got that; I had a pretty strong distaste for coffee. Honestly, I hate it,
the way it makes your teeth gritty to the point where you need something else to drink. I can't even

However creepy, I always found this feature refreshing, in the way that one finds a black cat. I

worked out frequently and could tell by his body that he had been skipping leg day. His chest,
however, was ridiculously huge, almost as if it wasn't even real. My eyes drifted towards the
right of the train. I began to critique a young blonde when the man with the jacket began to walk
in my direction. He was walking fast, darting straight to the bathroom when his coat flap floated
up. I couldn't believe what I saw; it looked like a homemade bomb strapped to his chest. Spending
the next few minutes convincing myself that what I just saw wasn't what I thought it was, I began
to panic. Next thing I know, he's busting out of the bathroom with a gun and I was forced to
prepare for what was going to happen next. It didn't take long for everybody on the train to panic.
It rushed through each row as the sobs and cries made their way to every passenger. It was an
orchestra of agony and it

  • 2. Personal Experience As A Student From my personal experience, as a student a person who research about students and on how they become successful is very interesting, for me, it's exceptional to study for your classes while working concentrated. That's how students become successful to me, and it doesn't matter if you're going to a normal or same single–sex school as long as you are able to learn what you need in order to live a normal life. I go to a school where there are males and females of all kinds from my observation, everyone in gender is the same, we all get acceptable grades and I have noticed people work absolutely consolidated just to keep it that way. In my school, we bear extra–curricular activities for students after school comparable sports, dance, work club, crown, Bros, and GSA club these actually aid students follow and assist them master how to communicate with others. In the article Kewauna's Ambition" by Paul Tough argues about the studentseducation should always work hard and if you can't figure out, request for guidance which can be very understandable considering, since the girl he interviewed from the article he stated that "she went through each red–starred word with him, one by one, asking him to explain" (3). This quote is stating that everyone should have at least a chance to help or seek aid from a teacher so they can improve their understanding of the lessons. However, we should have a place an education or social–support systems in our schools already. Throughout my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Last weekend my beautiful friend Yamuna was married in a storm of confetti and colour and I have never experienced anything like it. The air was close and we spent the weekend in a haze of heat and sunshine, sleeping on a rooftop under the stars and celebrating their love. (I can't explain just how special it is to know that our first Indian marriage was the love marriage of such a dear friend). We travelled out to her village– a nine hour drive from Hyderabad– by semi–sleeper bus. The adventures began early, as at quarter past four in the morning the bus stopped and we all got off to stretch our legs. Outside the sky was clear, icy black with abundant stars. We trailed behind a group of sari–clad women down a dusty street in the darkness, not entirely sure of where we were, looking for a washroom. We passed a building and one of them said "It is open only." Naively I think this means the bathroom is inside, and unlocked. It turned out that in rural India "open" doesn't mean unlocked but non–existent. We walk further down, and suddenly about a dozen of these sari–clad women squat together, to do their business on a quiet patch of the roadside. I think it's fair to say that whatever I thought culture shock was when I first arrived here was nothing to what I felt last weekend. Everything was so different to our Hyderabad home. It felt like I was relearning how to conquer India all over again. The bus deposits us in one village, about five am, and we climb off looking Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Experience Essay Watching my brothers graduate from college and move to far–off locations, doing interesting, fulfilling work and having exciting lives filled me with envy. On Sundays when they would load up their new cars to drive back to their jobs in neighboring states, I wished I could go along, just to hang out in one of their apartments and see what life was like on my own. Monday arrived too soon, like a rocket powered by the most potential caffeine and urgency imaginable, and I was back to school. I could hardly wait to get through my own classes at the local university and get out on my own, with them. One lived in San Diego and despite the reputation of California of being expensive to live in, he had somehow found an apartment that was less than many in our home city. With the goal of moving to the same apartment building as my brother, I was galvanized on finishing the school year as quickly as I could and moving out to San Diego to spend the summer with him. I envisioned we'd have a great time together. At the end of June my finals were done and I promptly packed up my car and drove to San Diego. I arrived at my brother's apartment on a Saturday evening. He and his friends helped me unpack my car, and we settled in. The first weekend was fun; he and his friends took me to many of the fun places to visit including downtown San Diego, Mission Beach, and La Jolla. When Monday rolled around my brother was up and out the door by 7:15am to get to work on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Eye–opening, thought–provoking, and informative are just three words which can be used to describe my experience from taking this expository writing course. Coming into the course, I was a bit unsure what to expect from it. For instance, I wondered whether this would be a class where we will write a bunch of fruitless essays or whether this class will sticks to its theme race in America and spark meaningful discussion among students of various backgrounds. Fortunately, it ended up being the latter and was a lot better than I had initially expected – despite it still being a Friday afternoon bomb. The two main goals I set for myself in my initial self–assessment paper were to not be afraid of expressing my true thoughts and be more open–minded. I definitely believe that I achieved both of the goals. As proven by my contributions to class discussions and what I shared in my essays, I become comfortable expressing my true thoughts. Although discussions on the theme of our course could become controversial, I believe that we created a safe space in our class where anyone could share their thoughts without the fear of being judged by another student or you, the professor. To be more open–minded towards the different opinions of various scholars which we came across over the course of the semester, I tried to do away with any implicit biases I may have come into the class with. This allowed me to better study and analyze the different sources without any presumptions. One reason I know that I was successful in eliminating any implicit bias I may have had is because of the results provided by Harvard's implicit bias test. The thing that shocked me the most over the course of the semester was the results I received after taking Harvard's implicit bias test again in the end of the semester. When I first took the test, I felt like I was being set up to show a bias against Black people and of course, the results suggested that I may have a slight automatic preference for White people over Black people. However, last week, when I took the test for the second time, the results explained, "Your data suggest a slight automatic preference for Dark Skinned People over Light Skinned People." This is the opposite result of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Personal Experience With Prejudice Essay In any society, how we see ourselves and how others treat us depends on many factors. Race, ethnicity, and cultural background are identifiers of individuals. Most people have confronted prejudice based on these identifiers, either personally experiencing discrimination or knowing someone who has. Beyond ensuring organizational compliance with a country's anti–discrimination laws, it is incumbent upon managers to support diversity in the workplace and to be culturally competent. This paper will assess my personal experience with prejudice in the workplace, including the implications of the situation to the organization in terms of its stakeholders, reputation, and its legal responsibilities. Furthermore, I will analyze the negative effects the discriminatory behavior had on morale and functioning of coworkers and employees. Lastly, I will recommend three action steps that I would have taken as a manager to avoid the situation, in addition to three steps to render the situation. Summary of Discriminatory Behavior While in college, I worked at a local country club as a part–time employee. My manager was young and relatively new to the position, however, upon hire, he seemed like he had the appropriate skills to lead the guest services team. As servers, we were responsible for taking and delivering orders, bussing tables and ensuring overall member satisfaction with the food and service quality of the club. There were many servers on the team, and most of us were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Personal Experience with Writing I have always considered writing to be a work in progress, and it constantly can be improved. I have always been devoted to writing. I loved to write stories as a child because I could use my creativity and create any type of character I desired. But I have struggled with writing as well. English has never been my forte. I have received A's, B's, C's, and D's on essays. I truly never found my voice in writing. In my high school, English teachers would give me mixed reviews on my writing. For example, in 9th grade my English teacher said I was organized with my thoughts, and my writing process was excellent. While in 10th,11th grade ,12th grade my teachers only said negative things about my essays. Not being a strong writer made me...show more content... For each essay, I wanted to be creative on how I would approach it. As a writer, you have always change you writing. It was challenging to decide how I wanted to structure each essay. But, challenge is the key towards being a perfect writer. Finally, reflecting on English 114A/B my attitude and style of writing has changed. My attitude has changed because now I see writing as being therapeutic. I see writing as something to help me relieve stress. It allows me release my feelings, rather than expressing my words to someone. Also, my style of writing has changed. Taking the English stretch course at CSUN allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, I was able to let go of the five paragraph essay. It was hard, but I was able to do it slowly. Moreover, I was able to let go of the habit of starting all my essay's with a quote. It was not easy to be open to changing my writing style. I had to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, some people are scared of change because they believe that change is bad, because you do not know what to expect. I was not scared to change my writing style because I look as change as challenge, and the opportunity to start something new. Adjusting my writing style was a challenge, but I was able to do it. • 8. Essay about Personal Experience Personal Experience I have had the great opportunity to be apart of a great program and class at college. Most of us who are going to become teachers know about this class and the required 80 hours of volunteering at a middle school for a semester. I was eager to volunteer, because I have experience in working with middle school kids. The school I work for, has prepared me to handle school aged kids, so I was relying on my background to carry me though the semester at a new Middle school. The privileges of a private school are a lot different from an inner city school. When I began to volunteer at Baker I was shocked to discover that the students were not allowed to take books home to finish their school...show more content... Hanson. Mr. Hanson is a teacher in the special education department at Baker. Mr. Hanson explained to me that these students are in the special education classes so they can gain the skills to eventually re–enter the normal public school classes. Mr. Hanson explained to the students who I was, why I was here, and how long I was staying. The class I could see wasn't very enthusiastic about my added presence in their classroom. I debated on the technique I would use to gain their trust and respect. Imagine a frozen lake and every step you take is a risk, because you are not sure if the ice is going to hold or crack and break right under you. This is exactly how I felt the first week of my volunteering at Baker. I will be honest; my first week wasn't the greatest, because I was learning the ropes of the special education department. These kids in the special education program not only have to deal with their ADD, and other diagnosis, but they also have to deal with poverty. I was told by Mr. Hanson that most of the students in the special education department never graduate, because education is not an important factor in their life. Most of their parents/parent want the kids to be home helping to either take care of younger siblings while working or to help out at home. As the weeks progressed, I found the job more enjoyable, because once the students felt comfortable with a new element in their classroom Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. What Is My Personal Experience Essay Everyone has been through a personal experience, whether it has changed their lives for better or worse. These experiences can be eclectic events such as going out to explore the world or even devastating events such as tragic accidents. My personal experience occurred a year ago during the summer when I took a trip to visit San Francisco, California with my family. This trip to San Francisco was a thrilling adventure due to the city being very beautiful and breathtaking. During my visit to the city I was able to take part in the beaches, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Six Flags. To begin with, the beaches near San Francisco are stunning. My family and I were able to cross the famous bridge a few times in the car as we traveled a bit around California. The view from the bridge was beautiful during the day and as well at night. It was nice during the day to see the sun sparkling on the water as boats sailed by, but appealing during nightfall because of the bright lights on the bridge. Also, the city lights around it brought out the overall awe of the bridge. During one of our passing on the bridge, we were able to make a quick stop at the top of the hill and take a few family pictures together with the bridge. My brother would tease me every time anyone brings up our visit to the Golden Gate Bridge because I was afraid to stand near the edge of the mountain to take our family photos since I imagined I was going to slip and fall. Furthermore, as we traveled through the bridge I had noticed telephone posts on either side of the bridge. These telephones were for the suicidal people who thought it was time to end their lives. The telephones were used to connect those who were suicidal to a counselor to help talk them out of committing such a tragedy. They may have helped saved plenty lives. It has been known by many that the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the many bridges that countless of people tend to go to in order to attempt Get more content on HelpWriting.net

These experiences are mostly based on our surrounding environment from where we learn new things every day. But all these experiences are a result of our keen observations out of daily routines. It is very important to note that life also provides us with some chances to experience new people or places that are indeed out of the ordinary. • 11. Personal Experience with Crisis We have all experience some form of crisis in our life. Whether it is minor or more severe, it is something that many of us can not control. A crisis can involve a series of stressful events or one difficult point in life that effects a person's overall well–being. I had a hard time coming up with what to write as my crisis for this assignment because when I hear the word crisis, the first thing that comes to mind is that crisis is a very severe event such as a war or natural disaster. As I read more in depth about the concept of crisis, I found that it does not have to be something as serious as a war. It can simply be a point in life where you face a difficult situation that makes you feel under...show more content... Although some may not consider this a crisis, it was for me. This was a crisis for me because I moved from Ghana where the culture, language, people and overall atmosphere was different. The transition to move to a different country and learn a new culture and language was a stressful and difficult time in my life. I felt alone and out of place because I did not have friends and when I did, I could not understand or make a conversation with them for a long time. The phase in the crisis cycle most relatable to my experience is phase 2 – The intensification stage. In this phase, individuals feel a loss of internal control causing frustration, fear and anger. This stage is most relevant to my experience because I felt frustrated and a loss of internal control. What caused this crisis was me moving to Canada and not knowing the culture or English. I would not have experienced the crisis if I knew English and Canadian culture. Due to my circumstances, there was nothing I could have done to stop the crisis from happening. The behaviour of my peers and people around me during the crisis was both positive and negative, I was bullied and felt that my class mates were judging me for my accent Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Personal Experience In My Life For an individual to be a success, it is imperative to possess qualities beyond intellect. To flourish in your career and in life, your character must drive you toward your aspirations. Throughout life, several experiences have molded me into a person of resilience, empathy, and composure. Such values have allowed me to reach my goals and serve my community. In supplement to my intelligence, these assets render me an exceptional student and employee. When my grandfather suffered from a massive heart attack, and was brain dead upon resuscitation, I started practicing composure. Once taken life support, his heart kept beating for a week. Because my parents raised me to be strong and to put others before myself, I spent the week supporting my grandmother and taking care of my grandfather's body. I never thought I could handle something like that, but for my grandfather, I would do anything. That week I truly put others before myself; staying at the hospital until the early morning, then driving straight to class, and back to the hospital again. During this time was when I knew to pick a vocation where I could be of assistance to others. Helping to care for my grandfather is what led me to my job as a nursing assistant. This is when I began discovering my love for service and developing myself as a woman for others. At work, there were days when I wanted to break down and cry in front patients due to the pain I felt at the inability of myself and the healthcare system to cure their illness, but I did not cry. Instead, I would tell them that they could handle it, and they are capable of more than they realize; that I hurt for them and that I was remorseful there is nothing further I could do. No matter how terrible my day had been, there was no other option but to walk in that room and act like I had the best day of my life and that is composure. • 13. Why are personal experiences influence to a person 's thoughts and how does it impact on his or her future jobs both directly and indirectly? Lingiardi, Tanzilli and Colli (2015) mentioned that an advisor 's enthusiastic reaction to a patient can be seen as a wellspring of profitable symptomatic and helpful data, which means the emotional response of a therapist is very important to the patients and the patients would further absorb it or abstain from the therapy. In addition, it is important to find out what the reasons behind to steer towards a person 's thoughts. My Personal Experiences My personal experiences have made me the person I am today. My experiences have taught me to enjoy life Also to embrace and honor every minute in this precious life.Experiences are a chance to help one another get familiar with what we know and have went through to bring us were we are now. My personal experiences are greater or even less some others, starting with my trip to New York City back in 2013 on February 14th. Which was my Valentine's Day trip actually my first trip every out of the state. I enjoyed the cold weather even the heavy snow. My first instinct were to make snowmen and to see how the snow tasted, I even had a chance to meet most of my family on my mother's side of the family which live in Queens New York while were visiting in Kings New York.Just because it was Valentine's Day I was surprised with a gift to take multiple photos with most of the greatest Hip Hop R and B singers that ever lived.I were very appreciative to meet new smiling faces as well as my family that I have not seen in centuries. It was a great experience it was the best Valentines gift I could ever endure. Not only was the trip to NYC a great deal but, the day that I was chosen from my High School to spend an adventurous day with an experienced, sweet, loving and caring Sheriff and his partner was awesome. • 15. Personal Experience: College Life College was very much a paradox for me. College was the most challenging experiences in my life, and yet one of the best experiences I have ever had. During my undergraduate years, I met new people, took exciting courses, and learned to live without the daily guidance of my parents. And most of all, I was able to learn more about myself. After my first year, the pressure of living on campus, friends, and classes began to take a toll on me. I began to fall apart. I worked two jobs to support myself, knowing that I could not ask my parents frequently for money due to their own financial burdens at home. I had to constantly deal with the upheaval from my relationships with roommates, friends, and family. I began dealing with anxiety, and my confidence level dropped considerably. My schoolwork began to suffer, and I began to withdraw from my friends and family. There were times when I cried almost every day and felt as though I could not carry on. The hardest part of all of this was putting on a faГ§ade for the people around me as though everything was perfectly okay. I still wanted people to see my as the happy, smiling person that was always in a good mood. Seeing that my grades had plummeted and realizing that I was going through a depressed time in my life, made me take a stand to make changes in my life. I knew I could not sit around dwelling in my despair while life passed me by. • 16. My Personal Experience Although we've all experienced any degree of disappointments in our lives, there are a select few that tend to stick with us. They act as assets in our lives, tools to use help us grow. The way a person deals with disappointment speaks volume about who someone is. Personally, I am the kind of person who likes to have constants in my life; commodities that won't change and those that I can depend on when everything else is unstable. When I was in my second year of middle school, one of my biggest constants was my band director, Ms. Palmer. The way my school district operated, all the middle school directors would also help in the mornings at the high school band class. As a result of this, once my brother and sister left our middle school,...show more content... This shattered all confidence I had for going to high school, all hope for comfort I previously had. All of a sudden, my main constant dissolved. The only thing that I had going for me, the safety net in my life ceased to provide comfort. From this event, I feel that I learned a great deal about how I personally coped with disappointment and major changes in my life. After tears had been shed and the questions were answered, I had an opportunity to develop and to mature from this. After adequate contemplation, I realized that it wasn't the best idea to depend on other people so deeply. In my youth, I had been raised and taught how to be independent and to care for myself, making sure that I could give myself all I needed to become successful. This loss of someone turned out to be invaluably important in my life and further reinforced my idea that the only person you should depend on is yourself. Though this sounds grim, I am able to attribute much of my success to my personal independence. I've learned how to set goals for myself, how to motivate myself to try and rise above negative situations and develop from them. Ms. Palmer leaving sparked my first internal revision that has thus led to a personal reflection resulting in the mindset I possess now. Several years later, I have the ability to reflect upon myself in a more timely and constructive manner. • 17. Personal Experience Essay First and Foremost, I have had many personal experiences throughout the short course of my life, and I'm sure everyone has had a lot of personal experiences to. Some even that are they are life threatening, but there is only one in particular that I would like to share with you. For Instance, when I was smaller I could remember the love and attention I would get from my mother and step Father. They would take me everywhere with them and feed me all different types of food. That was a long time ago. I turned Twelve and there was nothing wrong with my happy life with my brother, mom, and step dad. Then I realized my mom was getting a little over weight and sick a lot. I remember feeling horrible to the point to where I could feel her pain...show more content... I saw my mom on a bed with wheels, she seemed very happy, but my mom wasn't the only thing sitting in that bed with her. As I walked closer I could see a very little head wrapped up in some form of blanket. I walked closer to the bed. I soon found out that my mother wasn't sick at all she was just having a baby. My baby sister. I actually had a baby sister, I had gotten so excited to the point I was jumping up and down next to her bed. We left the hospital about 1 hours later due to my mom's health and strength growing more over the last hour. Afterward, we soon arrived home and I was beat. So I slipped into my P'Js and quickly went to sleep, so that I could see my baby sister the next day. It's early in the morning and I hear a noise that is very hard to ignore. IT WAS VERY ANNOYING!!!!!! I soon find out from my mother that it was my baby sister making that sound. I guess babies do that when they're hungry since they can't talk. My mom and I were supposed to go to the park today to watch birds and sit on the swing and have fun, but she told me that she needs to take care of my sister, so we couldn't go today. My mom told me today to just play with my games and promised me we would go tomorrow. So I told my mom okay and went on to play. The next day I heard my sister again and quickly got up and ready to go to the park, but my mom told me that she couldn't go because my sister needed to be taken care of. • 18. College, from what I heard from people say, is a time that you would not forget. From coming from such a far away place I did not really know what to expect. I was expecting some changes, but not the changes that I experienced over the past semester. I have changed as a person with greater openness of others' ideas and topics. I have changed with more independent from my parents and I have changed with more knowing of determining who I want to be, and I have changed by being more understanding that a person has to ask questions or otherwise, when in doubt people will not communicate with you. This past semester has been a time of self growth, which in turn has caused me to be a much different person that I had started out with. There were multiple times where I saw and heard other people's experiences and ideas. One of these times was in our Perspectives class, because of the many discussions from the class, as a whole, and of the specialty group focusing on political ideology. I changed with the moderation of views regarding economic policies, however, I am still fervent on my current views on social issues. Another time I have broadened my outlook is when I normally walk around with some friends and then they occasionally they open up about themselves. Prior to SU, I felt there was no person out there who had experienced or understood what I had to deal with my mother and my secluded life. Every person in SU that I have met had something with them that had a direct Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Personal Experience Through Art Art is such a powerful mechanism in terms of expression. Personally I tend to channel my emotions into my art to allow for an honest and thought–provoking image. Emotion and expression is the basis of art as mentioned in the above quote which I think beautifully sums up the foundation of all artworks. Personal experience is also beneficial to the artists and I can identify with this. By personifying my personal experiences through art I am able to express myself in a unique way as well as use it as a form of venting. This is when you can see and feel the raw emotion through the work of the artist. That is why personal experience is so important, you can identify with the fear they could have felt through a certain experience or event. An artist who I think has fully lived up to this is Frida Kahlo. Kahlo was a surrealist artist who expressed herself through art. She went through tons of emotional suffering with her husband cheating on her with her sister as well as physical suffering in which she spent several months in hospital after a fatal bus accident. Being put through so much emotional toll she channeled these emotions through art. We can therefore identify with the suffering she experienced through her lifetime. Her images are confrontational conversely to my images that are subtler. I was therefore inspired by her to be more upfront and provoking with my art through symbolism of suffering. Similarly, I wanted to express my inner emotions and make myself vulnerable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Descriptive Personal Experience Essay So, there I sat, seat G4 on the train headed to nowhere. I didn't have a destination; I never really did. I guess that's just the type of person I was, someone who just hopped on a train for the ride. I always liked trains. I don't know what it was about them, but for some reason or another, I always found myself lounging in the same spot drinking hot cocoa. People always said that hot chocolate "was only for kids" but I never got that; I had a pretty strong distaste for coffee. Honestly, I hate it, the way it makes your teeth gritty to the point where you need something else to drink. I can't even enjoy a cup unless it's lighter than my own skin tone, which, by the way, is pretty pale. I mean I wouldn't call myself pasty but... Anyhow, it...show more content... My mother raised me right, so I understood how wrong this was, but don't worry, nothing I had been thinking was going to leave my thick skull. Most of the people on the train were older women with their children, but next to me was a man. His eyes, like mine, matched his hair in blackness. However creepy, I always found this feature refreshing, in the way that one finds a black cat. I named this man Frank and created a story for him when another man caught my eye. It was his coat. It was an expensive Ted Baker peacoat which was impressive for how young he was. I worked out frequently and could tell by his body that he had been skipping leg day. His chest, however, was ridiculously huge, almost as if it wasn't even real. My eyes drifted towards the right of the train. I began to critique a young blonde when the man with the jacket began to walk in my direction. He was walking fast, darting straight to the bathroom when his coat flap floated up. I couldn't believe what I saw; it looked like a homemade bomb strapped to his chest. Spending the next few minutes convincing myself that what I just saw wasn't what I thought it was, I began to panic. Next thing I know, he's busting out of the bathroom with a gun and I was forced to prepare for what was going to happen next. It didn't take long for everybody on the train to panic. It rushed through each row as the sobs and cries made their way to every passenger. It was an orchestra of agony and it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
