Established in 1986 and based in the NorthWest,we provide employers
throughout the UK with HR, Employment Law and Health & Safety
support. Our philosophy is that our clients’ commercial objectives
are paramount, and our goal is to help them achieve their goals. Our
team are all professionally qualified and have extensive HR or H&S
experience across a range of sectors. They are also commercially
focused, personable and great listeners, making it their business to
get to know your business. We have grown through reputation, with
referrals being our biggest source of new clients, and there aren’t many
employment or health and safety issues which we haven’t encountered.
As we combine this experience with expert knowledge of the
surrounding legal context, you can rest assured that if you work with

3. >>> HR Advice
When you come to EML for HR or Employment Law
advice, you won’t be contacting a call centre. You will be
speaking to one of a small team of professionally qualified
HR practitioners, each with extensive experience in their
field, and all of whom work from our offices in Greater
Manchester.Without wanting to give away their ages, they
have over 150 years of combined experience advising on
employment matters, and it isn’t an exaggeration to say
that they have “been there, done that and got the t-shirt!”
We act as an outsourced HR department for smaller
clients, and for our larger clients we act as a sounding
board and specialist support provider to their internal HR
teams. Whatever your question, we’ll have an answer that
takes account of your wider commercial objectives. We are
accessible, on-hand and will advise you in no-nonsense
terms (we often have an allergic reaction to jargon!) and
we think you will find us a refreshing alternative to overly
safe and inflexible insurance-backed advice providers as
well as being more cost-effective than most solicitors and
big law firms.

Let’s face it, few business people relishwriting contracts and policies. But ifyour HR practices
aren’t underpinned with robust and up-to-date documents, which are specifically written to
protect your business interests whilst being flexible enough to accommodate change, then
your business is likely to come unstuck at some stage.Whilst it might not be the most exciting
part of what we do, we will draft Contracts of Employment, Employee Handbooks and
Policies which properly reflect the individual needs of your organisation, and our experience
in dealing with the dreaded Employment Tribunal means that we know what is required from
a legal perspective.
>>> HR Projects
If you have ever had to deal with an emotive redundancy
situation, complex disciplinary process or incendiary
grievance situation, you will know how arduous,
time-consuming and downright risky the handling
of these matters can be. Our on-site assistance in
such matters can prove invaluable. We will bring our
extensive experience to bear in an approach which
involves thorough preparation, clear analysis, robust
recommendations and efficient delivery. What’s more,
our interventions often result in increased credibility
from the employee’s perspective and free up valuable
management time. Other HR projects we can undertake
range from TUPE transfers and staff restructures through
to designing and delivering staff engagement initiatives.
5. >>> Employment Tribunal Representation
Over the course of the last 30 years, we have helped
employers defend in excess of 3,000 tribunal claims. We are
not a big law firm with fees to match, nor are we a solicitors
practice that prefers to keep clients at arm’s length. What we
offer is a down-to-earth, commercially focused Employment
Tribunal representation team that comprises some tenacious
advocates whose sole aim is to secure the most favourable
outcome for you and your business. Whilst we are able to offer
insurance to protect your organisation against the costs of
defending an Employment Tribunal claim (including dealing
with Early Conciliation), this is entirely optional and will never
compromise the control you have over your own business
decisions.
HR Training
We are firm believers that training is only effective if
it changes behaviour. To achieve this, we design and
deliver bespoke training initiatives that are pragmatic,
user friendly and inclusive. As well as exploring the
knowledge and skills of employees, we encourage them
to step outside their comfort zones and challenge their
existing behaviours and perceptions. By combining
direct delivery with engaging practical exercises, role
plays, group discussions and open forums, we ensure
that attendees not only learn, but also have fun.
6. Health Safety
You aren’t alone if you think that the words “Health and Safety” are synonymous with large
volumes of paperwork and unnecessarily complicated systems, policies and procedures which
can detract from getting the job done. However, you also aren’t alone if the prospect of a serious
accident which could have been prevented is a concern. We believe that Health and Safety
documents which rarely see the light of day are a waste of time and project a negative attitude
towards a fundamental aspect of working life. Our aim is to make your life easier by offering
a pragmatic approach to legal compliance in this area which is underpinned by effective but
user-friendly documentation and systems which are developed in conjunction with staff. This
maximises the chances that the policies will be implemented and will provide the necessary
protection to you, your staff and your organisation.”
