Question 4 how did you use media technologies (done)
1. Question 4 How did you use media
technologies in the construction
and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
2. • We used a variety of media technologies in
the construction of my music video. To
construct our frames to use in our stop
motion animation, we used Microsoft paint.
To add graphical features to some of the
frames we used we used adobe Photoshop
CS5. To edit our frames and eventual
‘footage’, we used adobe premier pro cs4.
3. • By using paint we were able to review the frames
that we had made quickly, thanks to the easy to
use software we had on the computers. When
reviewing our footage and finding an aspect
about that frame wasn’t up to standard (poorly
drawn for instance) we could open up the file
that was incorrect easily and makes changes to
bring it up to standard.
•
4. Photoshop cs5
• Editing on computers helped us with a variety
of special effects. For example, Photoshop
allowed us to edit an image by letting is add in
a lens flare. Drawing this effect on the actual
frame would have been far too difficult, so
this was an easier and more efficient way of
adding this effect.
5. mcrosoft paint
• Technology also helped with our print productions
(magazine advert and digipack). All of the print
productions we constructed on Microsoft paint. This
is because it was an easy piece of software to use
that I was familiar with, as I used it to produce the
frames for our actual music video. For the print
productions I only used paint, as it was the only
software that I needed to make them.
6. • To find an unsigned band to make a music video
for, I only needed to use one website. This site was
www.unsignedband.web. This was the only site I
needed to look on to find an unsigned band to
use, as I found the song we used ‘raincloud vs.
sunshine’ within 20 minutes of searching and felt it
would be perfect to make a video for, specifically
animation.
•
7. • For finding other music videos to analyse for my
research, I used YouTube. This let me get the music for
free, as well as watch the video whenever I wanted.
This is a lot more convenient than having to wait for the
video to come on the music channel, for example. The
most important piece of technology for researching
other artist’s cd covers and magazine advertisements
was the internet itself, and more specifically, Google.
This gave me instant access to the work of artists such
as mika and Katy Perry, which saved me from having to
by an actual copy of a music magazine
8. Uk tribes
• The technology I used to help me research into
audience was also the internet. To understand
who our target audience was, we used the site
uktribes.com. We used this site to research what
audience would like our kind of music. After
doing this we found out our target audience
would be the ‘townie’ archetype. This
contributed to the planning of the video as we
went with a cheery tone for our video, as townies
are considered to be dull and at times
miserable, so we believed that by seeing a cheery
music video, they would be happier.
9. How technology helped
• To help us gain ideas about what we wanted to put into our
music video, we used various pieces of technology. The
most obvious is YouTube, which gave us instant access to
almost any video that we wanted. The other piece of
technology that helped us in our planning was satellite TV.
This allowed me access to music channels at any
time, which was integral to my research.
• Technologies have helped me in answering my evaluation
questions. For example with the proliferation of software, I
was able to add screen captures to my evaluation
questions, which helped with comparative purposes. The
same can be applied to embedding videos, without the
technological advances of my computer; this would not
have been possible.
