7. Career Development Day
Opportunities
As proposed by CIDA, this day would bring together volunteers from the
various companies represented in CIDA as well as from other Chicagoland
organizations.
UCAN would bring our young people on a non-school day to this event,
which would include multiple training.
UCAN would welcome the participating organizations to provide lunch or
transportation.
UCAN would also take this opportunity to share more information about
our mission and ongoing work with volunteers.

8. Career Development Day
Commitment
UCAN aims to have 20-50 young leaders attend this day. We would like to
plan for groups of six young leaders with 1-2 trainers per group.
Location to be provided; suggestion was Hyatt McCormick Place
Four hour session from 10a-2p. Proposed dates include:

9. Professional Mentoring and Speaking
Opportunities
These workshops are designed to give UCAN’s young leaders firsthand
knowledge and feedback on professionalism and life skills.
Each mentor/coach would focus on an area of expertise and passion, and
would present this to small groups of young people.

Commitment
Speaking opportunities are 1.5 hours long and take place during or after
school hours according to the speaker’s schedule.
Sessions take place at one of the following UCAN locations:

Current CIDA member plans:
Wrigley will have a speaker (Michael Reed, Research Fellow) present to
our Project Visible Man group on December 1.

11. Young Leaders Exposure Outings
Opportunities
These outings expose UCAN’s young people to business professionals in
order to further their understanding of what it takes to succeed in the
workplace.
This opportunity allows a company the chance to share knowledge and
history of the company as well as to discuss individual success stories.
The outings are designed to improve work ethics and to create career
focus through career development and leadership training.
By introducing UCAN’s young people to various industries, organizations,
lines of work and functions, they are enabled to learn about and to explore
potential career directions, in addition to being motivated towards

Commitment
Two hours per outing (10a-12p or 1-3p any Wednesday or Friday) at your
location, agenda items to be determined individually.

Current CIDA member plans:
Wrigley held an outing October 27th at their Global Innovation Center
from 1-3 pm for six of our young people. Three staff members will
accompany the young leaders.
