Writing an ultimate guide about affiliate marketing for beginners has not been easy for me and
has actually taken hours to write (I also apologise for the length of this post in advance). The
reason is that I had to go back in time to recall the finer details of affiliate marketing for
beginners.

According to Wikipedia, Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which
a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s
own marketing efforts.
My interpretation is that I am an affiliate marketer and I sell other people’s product for an agreed
commission. I send targeted customers to their purchasing page through an affiliate link or
banner that I have created. If I send the right person to the right offer I have a better chance of
making a sale and getting my commission.
You can join an affiliate program either directly through a merchant or through a network that
handles the merchants affiliate transactions.

2. Get Serious First
If you just want to try your hand at affiliate marketing because you heard about it somewhere on
the internet then that is not a good reason to start a business doing this. It is not something that
will make you millions over night. It actually takes skill.
If you really want to learn a new skill that can possibly turn into a new career then that is what
affiliate marketing for beginners is about. The key here is that it will take time to learn and
master.

Make The Future Your Goal And The Present Will Come
Of course you want instant profits today. Who doesn’t? You can get your instant commission
from selling other people’s products but always try and remember how the customer is also
connected to your business. Can you connect with that person in the future? Are they signed up
to your list, following you on Facebook, or maybe commenting on your content?
Never let a good commission get in the way of your customers. Your website audience is the
lifeblood of your business.
That is why you need a website to proceed.
Build a Website VS No Website
You are talking to the wrong person here if you are waiting to hear that you can make lots of
money by not having a website. You possibly can make money without a website but what
exactly are you building? I like to build a business and something that becomes virtual real
estate. If you are planning on spamming social media with affiliate links, or some other devious
way to get a sale, then this article is not for you.
I don’t believe that building a business that relies on third party properties is a good idea at all.
For example, if you build an awesome Facebook page and make millions from it, what happens
when Facebook removes your page? What then?
Or what if you build a website that solely relies on Google for traffic and Google decides to de-index
your site for breach of THEIR TERMS?
This is why you need your own website and you need to build your own customer base.

3. Choosing a Niche
Choosing the right niche for your website can be a tricky thing to do. After all, if you choose the
wrong niche you could be working on something that will never actually make money in the end.
That is why I have a few simple questions you should ask yourself when choosing a niche:
Are people searching for content related to this niche?
Is there a problem I can solve for them?
When searching in Google, are other businesses advertising on the results pages? Is there
money to be made?
Is this topic out of my league or do I have the knowledge to be the best?
Are competing sites unbeatable with awesome content ? Is there a space for me?
Stick to What You Know
Many people will start building websites that are centred around topics that they really have no
idea about. I have seen this many times over the years and it always seems to lead to the same
conclusion. If you do not get out of bed every day and enjoy what you do, I can almost guarantee
you will not be doing it for long.
Even when building a website from scratch, you need to enjoy the topic that you have to write
about every day, because trust me, you will get sick of it very fast. Therefore choosing your
website topic should be a mixture of research and passion.
Buy Hosting
You can try to build our business on free Web hosting or blogging platforms, but I never
recommend it. If you are serious about affiliate marketing and building a website that can
actually make money, you need to buy your place on the Internet. Sure you can get your nerdy
neighbour to host your website on his home-made server, but trust me, this only leads to trouble.
When looking for website hosting, you need to consider this from a business point of view. Are
you going to get good service and it is your website going to be available 24 hours a day?
When I first started out I bought Godaddy hosting and immediately started to hit roadblocks on
what I could and could’t do. Everything I wanted to do with my website involved getting another
upgrade which in turn always costed more. I hated that.
After trying a few more hosting companies I ended up with Hostgator and have been with them
for approx 7 years.
The one thing I will say about website hosting is JUST DO IT! Don’t waste time on this decision
or you will never get started!
If you decide you don’t like your hosting, most top hosting companies will move your website
into their new hosting for free.. So stay cool as change is easy!

4. II. Affiliate marketingstrategies
Affiliate marketing is a low-cost
way for merchants to build
awareness and showcase their
products and services. The model
is simple; it works as a
commission-based referral
system. A partner or affiliate
markets a merchant's products
for a "piece of the pie."
Affiliate marketing experts often make an income that can tally over five figures
per month, however only 1 to 5% of thousands of marketers achieve this level.
When an affiliate reaches this elite level they are often referred to as a "super"
affiliate.
How does one become a super affiliate? Can anyone do it? Super affiliates have
common tactics that they embrace and put into place. Anyone can become a
super affiliate, but it will not come without blood, sweat, and a hefty time
commitment. The typical super affiliate possesses the following traits:
Persistence
Patience
Thirst for Knowledge
These three traits combined with the following strategy gives you the formula for
the makings of a "super" affiliate.
1. Find a Unique Niche
The mistake that many affiliate marketing hopefuls have in common is that they
try to offer everything under the sun rather than focusing on a specific niche

5. market. Do not scatter your efforts, focus on your niche, promote it, and sell it
well.
2. Search Engine Marketing
Once you've built your affiliate storehouse you will need to promote it. Many
affiliates use pay-per-click engines. I suggest that you learn how to achieve organic
search results or hire a search engine marketing company. This will save you from
spending all your profits on pay-per-click engines. Only use pay-per-click engines
if you know what you are doing, otherwise all your profits may end in the hands of
Google Adwords or Overture.
3. Know Your Product, Know Your Audience
Create a resource. By taking the time to learn about the products and/or services
that you are offering you can create information that builds your credibility. That
credibility builds trust. If your viewers do not have trust in you more than likely
they will not purchase from your storehouse. If you want more information on the

help you in creating a web site that converts well, which in return will increase
your cash flow.
4. Don't Put All Your Eggs in One Basket
Promote products from different merchants. This way if you have a problem with
receiving payment from a merchant, or their products do not convert well the
effects on your business will be minimal. Watch out for exclusivity agreements;
remember this is your business. Protect yourself and diversify so that you do not
feel the famine effect if something goes wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong
with promoting niche products from different merchants.
5. Seek Knowledge and Embrace Change
If you are familiar with Internet marketing at all you know that what worked three
months ago may not work today. Stay on top of the trends. Seek knowledge, start

6. by learning something new about affiliate marketing daily. For example remember
those marketing tools called "banner" that use to drive sales at an astronomical
rate a few years ago? Well those banners developed a term called "banner
blindness." That means most online viewers will not click on banners even if they
do pertain to what they are looking for. To be a "super" affiliate you must always
spend time reading, learning, and embracing the changes in Internet marketing.
6. Don't Give Up
It's hard to do, and most of the time those dabbling in affiliate marketing give up
way too soon. Monitor your statistics, watch to see what is working and what is
not. Make changes when necessary. Do one thing daily to promote your storehouse
and be patient. Before you know it you will start getting payments.
Remember that it will not happen overnight. Encompass and develop the
persistence, patience, and knowledge. Then follow the tactics I've mentioned
above and you are on your way to becoming a "super" affiliate.
