The document discusses the importance of renewable energy sources like solar and wind power. It notes that while these sources were once too expensive, technological improvements have made them cost competitive with traditional fossil fuels. The document concludes by arguing governments should support renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions and slow the effects of climate change.
During the final year of study MVC Final Year students will focus on 4 areas and achieve 4 results. Portfolio - create a complete set of visual material: printed and online Formulate a research question which they will answer visually Write a thesis in English: 70% semester 1, 30% semester 2 Answer their research question visually through an original piece of design, and exhibit on a public space.
This outlines the year's study aims and objectives.
Each section represents a body of work to be achieved. Some sections overlap.
Top titles refer to what the student will be doing ie. Planning or exploring.
Second section refers to what kind of activity/objective each student will be implementing.
The third section refers to which semester and approximately which week…during certain stages, there is an overlap.
The fourth section refers to each section's expected results. FOLLOWING THIS ROAD MAP WILL GUARANTEE RESULTS BASED ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE!
This is the first stage…the first job is to prepare all visual material and create a solid online infrastructure. Some students will prepare for further study, others will prepare for professional practice.
Portfolios should be presented in two ways, firstly in printed form, ie. a full colour printed bound book and secondly in website version to faciitate media which doesn't translate into 2D rpinted form, ie. animations, movie clips, iPhone apps etc. Follwing are examples of good website layouts suitable for students with different talents.

This section of the study process takes part in the second half of semester 1. Students start to think and collect information regarding subjects they find of interest. Faculty help students to "make sense" of this information. Week-by-week, through tutorials, students begin to formulate a theory backed-up by references.
By the end of semester 1 students should have defined a research question and completed 70% of their thesis. During semester 1's final presentation students will present their complete portfolio suite and research question backed-up by the thesis. Additionally, students should also have rough (design) visual material that presents a visual answer to their research question.
The focus of semester 2 is design, design and design. Students will, through experiments, case studies, R+D etc design, evaluate and refine their design concept to a high and professional level suitable for display/exhibition in an appropriate public space.
After personal exhibitions have closed, the final presentation will determine the level of each student's success.
The role each faculty member will play.
All tutors will participate in different ways to help students achieve their goal.
All faculty to monitor and develop research question with students. Each faculty member has a different speciality, therefore each teacher can offer a different perspective and direction/opinion.
