When we demand our own way, God will let us go and reap the consequences.

1. When Samuel got old, his sons were crooks, And the people demanded a king. Samuel warned them that a king would take everything they valued for himself.

2. 19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; 20 That we also may be like all the nations ; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles. They thought they knew better than the man of God. He was speaking the Words of God . So, they thought they knew better than God. If we are honest, we have all been there.

3. Your sons are crooks, accepting bribes. But a king will be honest and just. A king will go out before us and fight for us. God had already told them that a king would take their sons and send them into battle.

4. We want to be like all the other nations. There it is again: that desire to be like the world. That's the worst thing that can happen to a Christian. Parents hear it from their children. "All the other kids are going to this party ." "Why can't I go?"

5. Everybody else wears skirts this short; Why can't I? Don't be shy; tell them why!

6. Why can't I date who I want? My friends do. That boy is trouble, and he will get you into trouble.

7. Church members get that mindset. "Other churches have quit having Wednesday night worship and preaching." "Why do we still have it?" We need to top off our spiritual tanks for the week.

8. " Other churches say drinking it not a sin." "Why do you still warn against drinking?" Proverbs 20 1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

9. Parents need to stand strong to raise up our children in the way they should go. The children of the world are heedlessly walking in sin and falling into trouble.

10. Parents, don't stoop at standing time. Teach your children how to say no to sin.

11. 21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord. Samuel was quick to talk to the Lord about his problems.

12. 22a And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. After being warned, they still demanded a king. God said, "Give them what they want ."

13. Understand: God never agreed with them. Just because the Lord lets us do what we insist upon, or have what we demand , Doesn't mean He has been persuaded .

14. Romans 1:28 (TLB) So it was that when they gave God up and would not even acknowledge Him, God gave them up to doing everything their evil minds could think of. To reject God's Word and Way is to reject God. After a while He will let you go your way. He will let you reap the fruit of your way.

15. 22b And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city. "Go home. I will give you a king." Be careful what you demand; You may not like the outcome.

16. God's children will have a desire : Let that desire rule the way you live your life. Don't demand your own way . Live for God
