6. But, we make excuses …
0 It sounds boring!
0 I can’t sit still.
0 I don’t have time.
0 I don’t like being alone.
0 My mind is too fast; I can’t slow it
down.

10. Excuse the excuse!
Let your mind
race—there’s no
ideal rate! Your
thinking will slow
with practice.

These simple, short meditation practices
can help get you started on a more mindful
path.

SEAT
LEGS
UPPER BODY
HANDS
CHIN
TOTAL BODY
Sit wherever you are—your office chair, the
floor, a bleacher seat. Don’t perch or hang back.
If you’re on the floor, cross your legs. If you’re
in a chair, be sure your feet are touching the
floor.
Straighten, but don’t stiffen your upper body.
Let your hands drop onto the tops of your legs.
Drop your chin and let your gaze fall
downward—you don’t have to close your eyes,
but you can.
Relax in this position for a few moments, and
then pick up with your day!
