digestive tract. Dr. Eric Gan’s clinic focuses on surgical
interventions and nonsurgical alternatives for weight loss,
obesity, and related afflictions. Procedures available at the

A nonsurgical alternative for treating obesity, the procedure
utilizes a restrictive approach to weight control that limits
food intake and decreases cravings between meals. Physicians
place a silicone balloon inside the stomach and fill it with
approximately 500 to 700 cc of fluid, which takes up space
within the stomach and fosters a feeling of fullness.

3. Bioenterics Intragastric Balloon
• The balloon remains in the stomach for a period no
longer than six months.
An endoscope helps physicians insert and remove
the balloon. Physicians also use an endoscope to
guide a needle into place in order to fill the balloon
with fluid and empty it before removal. Once
emptied, physicians can remove the balloon through
the mouth. For optimal success, patients must
maintain a healthy diet after the balloon’s removal
and continue with exercise regimens prescribed by
their attending physician.
