Great Wall of China
 The Great Wall of China
          is a man made structure.

 It is a solid structure

           it is about 6,400km
          long.

           Purpose to keep
          intruders out and away
          and maintain peace.
Wheel Chair
         The Wheel chair
        is a man made
        structure

         It is a frame
        structure.

         It is for handicap
        people that are
        paralyzed.
Chicken eggs
           The chicken
          egg is a shell
          structure

           It can be any
          size depending
          on the chicken.

           The purpose is
          to hold baby
          chickens inside
          so they can
          hatch.
Bricks

         The brick is a solid
         structure.

          It is man made.

          purpose is to build.
Helmet
      The helmet is
     a solid structure.

      it is for safety.

      The purpose
     is to be safe for
     construction.
Beam bridge
          is most
         common
         bridge used

          simple is
         supported at 2
         ends

          longer ones
         supported by
         additional piers
Truss Bridge
        light weight but strong

        made of trusses along
       its side

        Shell structure
Suspension Bridge
            Hangs between two
           ends that hold it up.

            modern suspension
           bridge has tall towers
           on either end that
           support the main
           cables.

            main cables are
           anchored to concrete
           at each end of the
           bridge.
Arch Bridge
      designed to withstand
     heavy loads

      dynamic load of people
     and other traffic causes
     each piece of wood or
stone in the arch to push
against the piece next to it.

      This push is eventually
     transferred to the end
     supports, which are
     embedded in the ground.
