Editor's Notes
We are.. Entering an era of mobile computing. Starting with enormous desktop environments, we’ve quickly evolved to own smaller, faster and more intelligent devices. On the near end of that spectrum we’re already seeing the the growth wearable devices. Smartwatches, that follow within the canon of traditional wristwatches but which also pack gigahertz of computing power already starting to go mainstream. And many, including Avegant, think that wearables are going to move to the display space next.
To our credit and to our demise, the smartphone has really shaped the growth of wearable display technology. It’s helped in that it’s normalized the concept of staring at a personal display out in public – but in a way, it’s also slowed us down because we refuse to give them up. Still, many see the only possible outome as being a wearable solution.
