The Concepts of Honesty and Ethics
Honest and ethical are two complex concept to define. These are two similar concepts, but also
different too. Let's start by defining, honest which is a quality of human beings characterized by
sincerity of expression, tolerance, and using the moral values in a good way. On the other hand,
ethical can be defined as the way that a person should act using a group of rules or standards
values conforming their environment. Both can complement one another, ever when they are
different. Being honest person means having a morally accepted behavior. In other words, honest
is to be real, authentic and genuine. Honesty expresses respect for oneself and for others; as a
result, it is a human quality that is to behave speak with consistency and sincerity according to the
values of truth and justice. In its most obvious sense, honesty can be understood as the simple
respect for the truth about the world, facts and persons. For example, if a person has a good
reputation as an honest person, this means that people not only believe in him, but also put their
full trust in them. If a person has a good reputation, it will be easier to have friends and not have to
be afraid of their actions. However, when a person is dishonest usually ends isolated from the
environment, and always worry about the lies and evil deeds they have done. Honesty cannot be
based on the desires of the people. Honest requires truthfulness that goes beyond the intentions. A
man cannot act according to their own

What is Honesty and Why Did I Develop It? Essay
What is honesty? To me honesty is to tell the truth and not to lie to others and be fair. Honesty is a
good quality trait for someone to have which tells a lot about their personality. Honesty is a
characteristic that I have because of hearing in school about being honest, the experience I had as a
child, and most important the example my parents gave me. There are many factors that led me to
develop the characteristics of being honest. One was the influence I had during school. In school
they had rules and honesty was one of the most important ones. The rules were really reinforced so
in the classrooms there was one poster of the rules and all the students had to know them. I observed
how the students would be honest to the teachers...show more content...
This made me realize that telling the truth or being honest to others would make them be kind to me
and help me out more.
Another reason that caused me to develop the trait of honesty was my childhood experiences. One
childhood experience that stays in my memory and I cannot forget was when I had a fight with my
best friend. My friend told me a lie about not taking a toy that was really important to me. I did not
speak to her for two days, but she was my best friend and gave me back my toy and we made up.
Another thing is that I saw how my siblings would lie to my parents and they would get mad at
them and my siblings ended up getting in trouble. I also was not honest with my parents and I too
would get in trouble. My siblings and I would get punished so our parents took our toys, not
letting us see television for a day, and other privileges we had. They knew those things were
important to us because that was how we spend out time and my parents felt by taking those
things away we would learn. I did learned since I was young I did not like when my parents would
take away my toys or privileges and decided I would tell the truth instead. Of course I would still
get in trouble if I did something bad, but if I admitted and told them the truth they would not take
my toys away for a day just a few hours. However, there were those times I would get rewarded
instead. This was another factor that really helped me to develop my trait of being

Definition Essay On Honesty
Best–selling author and podcaster James Altucher once said "Honesty is the fastest way to
prevent a mistake turning into a failure" (Altucher). What Altucher was saying is, honesty is a
great help in pulling you out of bad situations before they can turn even worse in your life. There
are many ways for honesty to work out positively in our lives, it can show a sense of trust within
yourself or others you come in contact with. Honesty is also a big part of our lives in our wider
culture by being able to express opinions towards various subjects. There are many ways where
there is honesty in what goes on in our lives, in television, writing, and everyday conversations.
Being honest can be seen as an award for telling the truth and not hiding it. It also promoted a
sense of trust between you and the people around you to show that you are a person of your word.
Honesty is also to show self–improvement, that you are able to be honest with yourself and the
decisions you make and on up to them. Dishonesty can also lead to...show more content...
The Oxford English Dictionary defines honesty as "honour gained by action or conduct", when I
am honest I gain respect and attention by how I handled myself. When talking to my peers or
adults in my family or school, I make it essential that I make sure I show and tell the real version
of myself, not someone that only acts a certain way because of who I am talking to. When I have
been honest I developed great relationships with the teachers of my high school and now the
professors at my university. I am able to express opinions towards them that others may not want
to share with the adults in their life. Honesty can leave out any misunderstandings people will have
about me and it will help me be able to get out of bad situations, or prevent bad situations from
happening. Also, I will be able to see a change within myself once I express

Being Honest And Honest With Others
Being straightforward and honest with others may be more simpler than being honest with
yourself. We read articles, books, and magazines that always talk about a certain character, this
character is described in many different ways, we learn their likes, their struggles, their
achievements, etc. Wouldn't it be much simpler to just take a book about ourselves and read it.
Later analyze the text and write notes on our self and see how we react to certain situations or how
we learn better. This would be great to have because it would help me learn about myself which can
sometimes be harder than learning about someone else. It would help me be successful because it
can guide me in the right way, like take the right decision, study the right way. Thankfully, there are
people out there who test human personality, thanks to online and in–text tests about personality
help us figure out how we learn best and how we are to react to a certain situation. Knowing this
will help me work better with myself when assigned a certain task. Spatial, visual, and tactile, just a
few of the results that were given to me after taking many tests. A total of four tests were taken the
first was one found in–text in a book used in class. In the first test it was about learning styles, after
answering all the questions, I primarily fell into the category of being a visual/graphic learner, but
fairly close was tactile/kinesthetic and auditory/verbal. These results from the first test was really

Honesty "is the refusal to fake reality–i.e., to pretend that facts are other than they are."1 It can be

Humans lie by nature as a part of our nature is to sin, now if you claim to of never lied then that in

If I Am Being Honest
If I am being honest, I know that many of my fellow applicants and potential future classmates
have accomplished more in their brief careers than I can claim about my own. However, I hope to
convey that even though public accounting is not as prestigious as some of these careers, I have
developed the abilities needed to thrive at HBS and in the business world beyond.
I grew up in an extremely conservative family in a small town outside of Wichita, Kansas. I was
homeschooled through high school and was taught to distrust the education system, especially
universities. As a result, academics took a back seat to my parent's antiquated beliefs and paranoia
as well as my own personal interests. My focus was primarily on basketball which provided an
outlet for my competitive nature and a small taste of the normal teenage life I craved. As time went
on, my parents became more moderate and college was not seen quite as negatively. I enrolled in the
local community college during my junior and senior year of high school where I completed some
of my general education requirements before graduating high school and enrolling at another junior
college where I played varsity basketball.
In part because of the way I was raised, I didn't place sufficient focus on my education and I was
not knowledgeable about my options. Ironically, college basketball was actually what changed this
for me. I saw former teammates who had no plans beyond basketball end up in poverty with slim
prospects

Defining Honesty Essay
Defining Honesty Winston Churchill once said, "Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most
of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened." Everyone has in mind that
honesty is being truthful in everything. Honesty is the most important thing a person should
possess. He should adhere to till his death. Then People will respect one and the feelings of that are
priceless. An honest person is the richest person in the world. He does not have to worry about

Honesty is classified as a noun in part of speech. Honesty has many similar meanings; such as
uprightness, morality, trustworthiness, goodness, scrupulousness, decency, rectitude, righteousness,
fairness, reliability and honor. These synonyms are all equal to truth. The meaning of honesty in
this essay is applied about truth. An example of is could be that Jen is an honest person in the
world, she never lies, respects others, and when she is tempted to cheat on her test, she overcomes
with her power of honesty. This fits the definition about truthfulness in everything.
There is also another different meaning of honesty, such as plants with flat papery seed pods: a
hardy European plant with purplish or white flowers and flat silvery seed pods that are often used
for indoor decoration. Its' Latin name is Lunaria annua. It also called silver dollar, money plant, and
satin flower. This meaning is totally different than average people know about the honesty. Normally
people won't think honesty as a plant–related thing. Many would be surprised by this definition.
'How many would go and say honesty is a beautiful plant?'
There can't be a society without any honest people, because that society would

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY
Honesty, the quality of being honest, is a value which can be defined in multiple ways. In the context
of human communication, people are generally said to be honest when they tell the truth to the best
of their knowledge and do not hide what they know or think. Apart from being truthful, honesty is
also generally thought to involve abstaining from unfair behavior, such as stealing or cheating on a

I'd like to tell you a little story to illustrate my point.

Essay about What Makes One Honest?
Honesty is a very abstract word. It is defined by the Merriam–Webster dictionary as "adherence to
the facts; refusal to lie, steal or deceive in any way." But, what 'honesty' exactly means? Some
would say that honesty means not telling lies, not committing crimes or living a life according to
what law says. To be honest, it is a manifestation of thetruth, and the facts behind are just a
consequence of being honest. In a simple way, honesty is not only to tell the truth, but also to live
the truth.
Honesty is based on the truth, and the most general sign of this is not telling lies. Even the most
simple and "inoffensive" lie could become problematic. For instance, my friend Tania was preparing
a surprise party to her boyfriend, so she...show more content...
That includes not stealing, cheating, wining things by affecting others, corrupting or doing any
dishonorable practice. An example of this kind dishonesty is when someone cheats on an exam.
By simply copying answers from another student's exam he is practicing dishonesty. Dishonesty
also appears in something really simple that I often see in the urban buses. Most of the drivers
have a young boy by their side. That boy stays in the bus and goes everywhere for free, he just
have to skip the detector that counts how many people get in the bus. Furthermore, when a lot of
people are getting in, the boy sometimes covers the detector with his hand so the driver can get
more money without being noticed by their supervisors. That kind of actions are not written in any
official document as illegal proceedings, but it is known for all people that they are unethical.
Honesty implies the fact of not doing those immoral actions and doing the right thing, even if it is
more convenient to do the opposite.
Even though the last arguments are very important, the most important expression of honesty is to
practice this value to you. People that deny themselves are just getting in bigger problems, only
because of their lack of honesty. For example, in the movie "School Ties", David Greene is a
Jewish man studying in a Protestant school in the fifties. When he got in that school he oppressed
his own beliefs so

Definition Of Honesty And Integrity Essay
Definition of Honesty and Integrity Honesty and Integrity are fundamental values that every sane
guardian wishes his or her children to possess. These two values are the key ingredients to success
in all aspects of life. Honesty and integrity are important in communication, business, profession,
relationships and much more. Honesty is defined as the act of being fair and straightforward in life
(Siddiqui, 2015). On the other hand, integrity refers to the practice of possessing and adhering to
the high moral principles and standards set by oneself and the society (Siddiqui, 2015). The word
integrity is derived from the Latin word "integer" that stands for whole or complete (Siddiqui, 2015).
Therefore, integrity requires that a person upholds all his convictions firmly and should not deviate
from them no matter the circumstances. The difference between integrity and honesty, as defined
above, is that honesty refers to the quality of being truthful and fair while integrity refers to the
quality of steadfastly practicing and upholding the moral principles, standards set by oneself or one's
society (Siddiqui, 2015). In short, honesty is simply a quality but integrity is the ability to always
exhibit a quality in all circumstances. Therefore, it is possible to have a quality, such as honesty,
without integrity but it is impossible to have integrity without a quality, such as honesty (Siddiqui,
2015). Qualities, such as honesty, lay the foundations for integrity. This paper

Why Being Honest Is Better Than Being Honest?
One of the most common phrases said from parent to child in our culture is, "If you do not have
anything nice to say, do not say anything at all." Most kids believe their parents because it makes
sense. Most kids want to be kind, and it appears that this is the best way to do exactly that.
However, the problem lies with the end result. As I personally grew, I learned that this philosophy,
although good in its intentions, results in a negative consequence. I discovered that being honest is
the only way to easily and effectively interact with the people around me. Once I released this idea
from my life, I realized that I felt less obligated to be nice. My thoughts turned to how to be the best
person possible, helping myself, and others, in the process. In order to communicate correctly, with
as little ambiguity as possible, the human race must also let go of the idea that "if you do not have
anything nice to say, do not say anything at all."
In today's society, people have fallen into the trap of sensitivity over honesty. In her article "Why
Being Honest is Better Than Being Nice," Allison Fallon said, "Few things in life are more trapping
than the feeling of having things you want – no, need – to say to your boss, your friend, your
significant other, your co–worker, your roommate, your neighbor and yet, the words just will not
come out." Fallon goes on to explain that scientific research has been conducted on people who have

Almost all religions of the world promote and encourage honesty. Since the purpose of this paper
is not to discuss this paper with regard to religious types, therefore, it is just to mention here that
all religions of the world encourage honesty in all affairs of life. If one person behaves and acts in
an honest manner, then he will ultimately be rewarded either in a direct way or some indirect way.
The individual will get benefit by adopting the characteristic of honesty.
If one person is not honest, then he may have to speak several lies throughout his life. He will
have to speak lies in order to hide other lies. As a result, the chain of lies will continue that will
ultimately result in personal as well as a religious loss for the individual. Similarly, if an individual
speaks the truth and does not lie with others, then he will be rewarded in either way. Therefore, it
can be said that the people should not lie with others.
One part of honesty means to act in a certain way towards other. However, another part of the
definition of honesty means to treat others in a way you expect others to treat you. Similarly, this
definition of honesty means to be honest with yourself. If you consider yourself in a situation while
treating other, then it is more likely to be treated in a more lively, ethical and honest

On the other hand, the aunt could have been upset because she was being questioned, but if she
has good intentions for her mother then there should be no problem to releasing that information
rather than go through a civil process in court. In addition, being sincere with words and actions
will eliminate untrue or misleading information. Leaders must work hard and be accurate to
prevent misunderstandings. It is important to remember "not to play to the audience," and say
different things to different groups of people (Bushey, p. 5) as this will lead to a significant loss of
trust and possible arguments will be established. Always be honest, sincere and candid and never
take advantage of another person's trust, while at the same time there must be fairness. There may
be times when dishonesty may be justified, but this should only happen for safety reasons such as
lying to criminals or terrorists in order to save lives. When being dishonest it should only be for
those reasons just stated and not for winning a game or hitting a sales target to avoid confrontation.

Essay On Honesty
Honesty is the best policy. We have always been taught this and also that to lie is a bad thing to do.
There is a certain beauty in living life with honesty. While the benefits of and motivations for
choosing honesty in life are many – including that truthfulness and honesty are integral to one's
sense of moral integrity – living a life of honesty ultimately means having little to regret. Living
with honesty is less about persistently resorting to truth over deception, and is more about living
your life in a way that is "honest" to who you are on the inside – your strengths, your gifts, and your
passions, as well as your beliefs and morals. Being true to ourselves should undoubtedly help lead
us to what most of us strive for in life –some form...show more content...
In many situations it is a good idea to keep quiet or, better still, be diplomatic and tactfully handle
sensitive issues. The line dividing honesty and diplomacy is a thin one. We have to be careful in
deciding when to be honest and when to be at our diplomatic best. We also have to decide whether
we should be absolutely candid, or use the truth as a matter of convenience.
Wars are won by words not weapons. For centuries people have tried to solve their problems by
negotiation. To escape conflicts and wars they have used words to persuade their opponents. That is
where diplomacy begins. Diplomacy is an intellectual activity and decision making derived from
ongoing analysis of current situations. Diplomacy includes the combination of ways and abilities
which any state can use for its worthy existence in the world and for establishing cooperation with
other members of international community.
In modern day and age, one has to practice diplomacy as it is essential to get one's way in a world
that is highly competitive. What you say matters a lot. One has to be careful while conveying issues
as they would have an impact on one's surroundings. Building up of personal relationships depends
upon your choice of words, how you convey them to the concerned

Essay On Being Honest

  • 1. The Concepts of Honesty and Ethics Honest and ethical are two complex concept to define. These are two similar concepts, but also different too. Let's start by defining, honest which is a quality of human beings characterized by sincerity of expression, tolerance, and using the moral values in a good way. On the other hand, ethical can be defined as the way that a person should act using a group of rules or standards values conforming their environment. Both can complement one another, ever when they are different. Being honest person means having a morally accepted behavior. In other words, honest is to be real, authentic and genuine. Honesty expresses respect for oneself and for others; as a result, it is a human quality that is to behave speak with consistency and sincerity according to the values of truth and justice. In its most obvious sense, honesty can be understood as the simple respect for the truth about the world, facts and persons. For example, if a person has a good reputation as an honest person, this means that people not only believe in him, but also put their full trust in them. If a person has a good reputation, it will be easier to have friends and not have to be afraid of their actions. However, when a person is dishonest usually ends isolated from the environment, and always worry about the lies and evil deeds they have done. Honesty cannot be based on the desires of the people. Honest requires truthfulness that goes beyond the intentions. A man cannot act according to their own Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. What is Honesty and Why Did I Develop It? Essay What is honesty? To me honesty is to tell the truth and not to lie to others and be fair. Honesty is a good quality trait for someone to have which tells a lot about their personality. Honesty is a characteristic that I have because of hearing in school about being honest, the experience I had as a child, and most important the example my parents gave me. There are many factors that led me to develop the characteristics of being honest. One was the influence I had during school. In school they had rules and honesty was one of the most important ones. The rules were really reinforced so in the classrooms there was one poster of the rules and all the students had to know them. I observed how the students would be honest to the teachers...show more content... This made me realize that telling the truth or being honest to others would make them be kind to me and help me out more. Another reason that caused me to develop the trait of honesty was my childhood experiences. One childhood experience that stays in my memory and I cannot forget was when I had a fight with my best friend. My friend told me a lie about not taking a toy that was really important to me. I did not speak to her for two days, but she was my best friend and gave me back my toy and we made up. Another thing is that I saw how my siblings would lie to my parents and they would get mad at them and my siblings ended up getting in trouble. I also was not honest with my parents and I too would get in trouble. My siblings and I would get punished so our parents took our toys, not letting us see television for a day, and other privileges we had. They knew those things were important to us because that was how we spend out time and my parents felt by taking those things away we would learn. I did learned since I was young I did not like when my parents would take away my toys or privileges and decided I would tell the truth instead. Of course I would still get in trouble if I did something bad, but if I admitted and told them the truth they would not take my toys away for a day just a few hours. However, there were those times I would get rewarded instead. This was another factor that really helped me to develop my trait of being Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Definition Essay On Honesty Best–selling author and podcaster James Altucher once said "Honesty is the fastest way to prevent a mistake turning into a failure" (Altucher). What Altucher was saying is, honesty is a great help in pulling you out of bad situations before they can turn even worse in your life. There are many ways for honesty to work out positively in our lives, it can show a sense of trust within yourself or others you come in contact with. Honesty is also a big part of our lives in our wider culture by being able to express opinions towards various subjects. There are many ways where there is honesty in what goes on in our lives, in television, writing, and everyday conversations. Being honest can be seen as an award for telling the truth and not hiding it. It also promoted a sense of trust between you and the people around you to show that you are a person of your word. Honesty is also to show self–improvement, that you are able to be honest with yourself and the decisions you make and on up to them. Dishonesty can also lead to...show more content... The Oxford English Dictionary defines honesty as "honour gained by action or conduct", when I am honest I gain respect and attention by how I handled myself. When talking to my peers or adults in my family or school, I make it essential that I make sure I show and tell the real version of myself, not someone that only acts a certain way because of who I am talking to. When I have been honest I developed great relationships with the teachers of my high school and now the professors at my university. I am able to express opinions towards them that others may not want to share with the adults in their life. Honesty can leave out any misunderstandings people will have about me and it will help me be able to get out of bad situations, or prevent bad situations from happening. Also, I will be able to see a change within myself once I express Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Being Honest And Honest With Others Being straightforward and honest with others may be more simpler than being honest with yourself. We read articles, books, and magazines that always talk about a certain character, this character is described in many different ways, we learn their likes, their struggles, their achievements, etc. Wouldn't it be much simpler to just take a book about ourselves and read it. Later analyze the text and write notes on our self and see how we react to certain situations or how we learn better. This would be great to have because it would help me learn about myself which can sometimes be harder than learning about someone else. It would help me be successful because it can guide me in the right way, like take the right decision, study the right way. Thankfully, there are people out there who test human personality, thanks to online and in–text tests about personality help us figure out how we learn best and how we are to react to a certain situation. Knowing this will help me work better with myself when assigned a certain task. Spatial, visual, and tactile, just a few of the results that were given to me after taking many tests. A total of four tests were taken the first was one found in–text in a book used in class. In the first test it was about learning styles, after answering all the questions, I primarily fell into the category of being a visual/graphic learner, but fairly close was tactile/kinesthetic and auditory/verbal. These results from the first test was really Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Definition Essay: The Value Of Honesty Honesty "is the refusal to fake reality–i.e., to pretend that facts are other than they are."1 It can be described as the flip side of rationality: Whereas rationality is the commitment to think, judge, and act with respect to the relevant facts, honesty is the commitment not to do otherwise." • 6. If I Am Being Honest If I am being honest, I know that many of my fellow applicants and potential future classmates have accomplished more in their brief careers than I can claim about my own. However, I hope to convey that even though public accounting is not as prestigious as some of these careers, I have developed the abilities needed to thrive at HBS and in the business world beyond. I grew up in an extremely conservative family in a small town outside of Wichita, Kansas. I was homeschooled through high school and was taught to distrust the education system, especially universities. As a result, academics took a back seat to my parent's antiquated beliefs and paranoia as well as my own personal interests. My focus was primarily on basketball which provided an outlet for my competitive nature and a small taste of the normal teenage life I craved. As time went on, my parents became more moderate and college was not seen quite as negatively. I enrolled in the local community college during my junior and senior year of high school where I completed some of my general education requirements before graduating high school and enrolling at another junior college where I played varsity basketball. In part because of the way I was raised, I didn't place sufficient focus on my education and I was not knowledgeable about my options. Ironically, college basketball was actually what changed this for me. I saw former teammates who had no plans beyond basketball end up in poverty with slim prospects Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Its' Latin name is Lunaria annua. It also called silver dollar, money plant, and satin flower. This meaning is totally different than average people know about the honesty. • 10. Essay about What Makes One Honest? Honesty is a very abstract word. It is defined by the Merriam–Webster dictionary as "adherence to the facts; refusal to lie, steal or deceive in any way." But, what 'honesty' exactly means? Some would say that honesty means not telling lies, not committing crimes or living a life according to what law says. To be honest, it is a manifestation of thetruth, and the facts behind are just a consequence of being honest. In a simple way, honesty is not only to tell the truth, but also to live the truth. Honesty is based on the truth, and the most general sign of this is not telling lies. Even the most simple and "inoffensive" lie could become problematic. For instance, my friend Tania was preparing a surprise party to her boyfriend, so she...show more content... That includes not stealing, cheating, wining things by affecting others, corrupting or doing any dishonorable practice. An example of this kind dishonesty is when someone cheats on an exam. By simply copying answers from another student's exam he is practicing dishonesty. Dishonesty also appears in something really simple that I often see in the urban buses. Most of the drivers have a young boy by their side. That boy stays in the bus and goes everywhere for free, he just have to skip the detector that counts how many people get in the bus. Furthermore, when a lot of people are getting in, the boy sometimes covers the detector with his hand so the driver can get more money without being noticed by their supervisors. That kind of actions are not written in any official document as illegal proceedings, but it is known for all people that they are unethical. Honesty implies the fact of not doing those immoral actions and doing the right thing, even if it is more convenient to do the opposite. Even though the last arguments are very important, the most important expression of honesty is to practice this value to you. People that deny themselves are just getting in bigger problems, only because of their lack of honesty. For example, in the movie "School Ties", David Greene is a Jewish man studying in a Protestant school in the fifties. When he got in that school he oppressed his own beliefs so Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I remember the reaction of the Principal. She was crying like a river, kissing my mother, and thanking her over and over for her honesty and the great example she was to me. At that the moment I understood why she wanted to give the money back. It belonged to the Principal who put the folder on my desk, while she was giving the last minute announcement the day before. I had been in a hurry and I shoved the folder in my back pack by accident. My mother never told me that what we did was called honesty. We never talked about the incident. I learned by her example what the right choice was, and it changed my life forever. Shakespeare once said, "Honesty is the best policy. If I lose my honor, I lose myself." From his quote, it is clear that Shakespeare thinks honor is more important than anything else in life. Honesty is a virtue that is uniquely valued by human beings as well by our Heavenly Father. • 15. Definition Of Honesty And Integrity Essay Definition of Honesty and Integrity Honesty and Integrity are fundamental values that every sane guardian wishes his or her children to possess. These two values are the key ingredients to success in all aspects of life. Honesty and integrity are important in communication, business, profession, relationships and much more. Honesty is defined as the act of being fair and straightforward in life (Siddiqui, 2015). On the other hand, integrity refers to the practice of possessing and adhering to the high moral principles and standards set by oneself and the society (Siddiqui, 2015). The word integrity is derived from the Latin word "integer" that stands for whole or complete (Siddiqui, 2015). Therefore, integrity requires that a person upholds all his convictions firmly and should not deviate from them no matter the circumstances. The difference between integrity and honesty, as defined above, is that honesty refers to the quality of being truthful and fair while integrity refers to the quality of steadfastly practicing and upholding the moral principles, standards set by oneself or one's society (Siddiqui, 2015). In short, honesty is simply a quality but integrity is the ability to always exhibit a quality in all circumstances. Therefore, it is possible to have a quality, such as honesty, without integrity but it is impossible to have integrity without a quality, such as honesty (Siddiqui, 2015). Qualities, such as honesty, lay the foundations for integrity. This paper Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Why Being Honest Is Better Than Being Honest? One of the most common phrases said from parent to child in our culture is, "If you do not have anything nice to say, do not say anything at all." Most kids believe their parents because it makes sense. Most kids want to be kind, and it appears that this is the best way to do exactly that. However, the problem lies with the end result. As I personally grew, I learned that this philosophy, although good in its intentions, results in a negative consequence. I discovered that being honest is the only way to easily and effectively interact with the people around me. Once I released this idea from my life, I realized that I felt less obligated to be nice. My thoughts turned to how to be the best person possible, helping myself, and others, in the process. In order to communicate correctly, with as little ambiguity as possible, the human race must also let go of the idea that "if you do not have anything nice to say, do not say anything at all." In today's society, people have fallen into the trap of sensitivity over honesty. In her article "Why Being Honest is Better Than Being Nice," Allison Fallon said, "Few things in life are more trapping than the feeling of having things you want – no, need – to say to your boss, your friend, your significant other, your co–worker, your roommate, your neighbor and yet, the words just will not come out." Fallon goes on to explain that scientific research has been conducted on people who have stayed nice, rather than honest, for days at a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Essay about Honesty Honesty Imagine this: You are at a McDonald's drive through. You have ordered only one cheese burger, but when you drive up to the collection window, the young trainee hands you a big bag filled with food and a handful of change. There are two options, do you, A; tell the young trainee that you only ordered a cheese burger, (which cost you only $1.90) and give back to him the big bag of food and handful of change? Or do you, B; say thank you to the young trainee and drive off happily with the huge bag of food and all the change, feeling lucky that the trainee made a mistake with your order. Of course, the first action suggested above, (A) is the honest and truthful way to resolve the problem. However, unfortunately, most of...show more content... Because of the fact that you are colour–blind, you can barely tell the difference between the different banknotes apart from their size and the number in the top right hand corner. Your boss is looking over your shoulder to see how you are doing because he is waiting for the last customers to leave so that he can close the doors and go home for the night. He spots your mistake but the sinful adolescent has already left. After the gates have been closed, the store manager summons you to his office to have one of his 'little chats'. You immediate think of the worst–case scenario, could you have been fired? When you reach his office, he vividly tells you about the mistake, which you had unknowingly made just minutes earlier. He then continues to tell you that the sum of money will be taken out of your fortnightly pay cheque. 'Phew!' You think to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
