Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one
act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience
of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many
will be made righteous (Romans 5:18-19).
One man sinned and brought death to creation
He brought about corruption and its awful frustration
He began the pain and agony of being in the wrong
He is the reason for all the evil that makes Satan seem so strong
I can’t believe the hate that was conceived!
By the eating of the fruit from an evil knowing tree
How could this one do this to his daughters and his sons?
How could it start, this wickedness and strife, begun by one?
Didn’t he know that his peace was pure and good?
Didn’t he know that what he had was heaven on earth?
Until the serpent came and made his nakedness misunderstood.
And brought the tilling of the soil and the end of mirth
This man brought death but someone had to make that choice begin
This man started God’s plan of His followers to win
God knew the hearts that He placed in His children
He knew he did not want robots that made no self-decisions
He wanted followers to make the choice to follow Him
So that is why there will always be righteousness and sin
Some will jump in front of a bullet to save a life
While some will pull the trigger and bring devastation and strife.
But Just as God sent one to bring the darkness into life
He had to send one more to give His children light
So God sent the one that would save us when we failed
The wrongs of the first to be made righteous by those nails
The nails that brought the death, by the cross, of our Lord
The one being God’s true Son to save us from our war
He suffered and took on the sins of the first
But Christ’s death was not like every other mans curse
He arose from the grave
And brought the power to save
His own life he gave
But rose on the third day
And ended the curse the other one gave.

A Great Paradox
The dictionary defines the word “paradox” as
“a statement seemingly absurd or contradictory, yet
in fact true.” The Bible has examples of things that
are paradoxes. For example in Matthew 19:16-30
we read of a man who came to Jesus questioning
Him about what he must do have eternal life. As we
look at the life of this man our first thought might be,
here is the man that has it all. For example we know
that he was a ruler. In Luke’s account we are told
that he was a ruler (Lk. 18:18). Therefore he was a
man that had authority. W.E. Vine says that likely
this is a reference to one who was the ruler of the
synagogue He presided at the services and ap-
pointed or permitted suitable members to pray, read
the Scriptures and exhort. He was rich. Matthew
tells us that “he had great possessions,” and Luke
says he was “very rich.” Likely he could buy for him-
self anything that he wanted. He was a young man
(Mt. 19:22).Having youth meant that this man also
had strength. Millions of dollars are spent every
year on cosmetics, and surgeries to forestall the
aging process. But he also had enthusiasm for
Mark tells us that this young man “came run-
ning” (Mk. 10:17). It seems from the information that
this man had it all! He had power, money, youth
and enthusiasm. But he lacked the one thing he
needed most and when he learned what was
needed to receive it he chose to walk away without
it.
Contrasted to this man are the apostles.
When Jesus sent them out on the limited commis-
sion they were told, “Provide neither gold nor silver
nor copper in your money belts, 10 "nor bag for
your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs;
for a worker is worthy of his food.. Yet when they
returned from this commission and Jesus asked
them, “"When I sent you without money bag, knap-
sack, and sandals, did you lack anything?" So they
said, "Nothing” (Lk. 22:35).
The difference between these two, the rich
young ruler and the apostles, is Christ. The rich
young ruler did not have Christ but the apostles did!
The reality is, “as long as we have Jesus we have
everything we need but without Him we have noth-
ing.” Without Jesus we are aliens, strangers to the
covenants and having no hope (Eph. 2:12). Without
Christ we can do nothing (John 15:5).
