•Wings are the areas to the left and right of the
stage that are out of view of the audience.
•Proscenium can refer to both a proscenium arch
and a proscenium theater. A proscenium arch is the
opening through which the audience sees the
stage. The style of theater, is a theater in which the
audience sits directly in front of the stage.
•Apron is the usually curved area at the very front
of the stage, closest to the audience.
•Backstage/ Offstage are the areas of the stage
that the audience cannot see.

•House is the audience area.
•Backdrop is the drop farthest upstage in any
setting. A large curtain, sometimes with a picture
or design on it.
•Curtain Line is the imaginary line across the stage
floor following the line of the front curtain.
•Fly Loft is the area above the stage where curtains

they are not being used.
