BROCHURE
Building futures through
entrepreneurial education
“FOR ME, STARTUPS ARE THE BEST
WAY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS IN THE
WORLD. TAKE IDEAS AND TURN THEM
INTO SUSTAINABLE REALITY.
THE BEST ENTREPREUNERS ARE
OBSESSED WITH SOLVING A PROBLEM.
FINANCIAL REWARDS ARE SECONDARY.”
Michael Jordaan
FORMER CEO OF FNB &
FOUNDER OF MONTEGRAY CAPITAL
We are a seasoned national network of
entrepreneurs who are committed to solving
the unemployment crisis in South Africa by not
only teaching entrepreneurship but creating a
safe space where young people can take action.
THE DNA OF
FutureProof
Futureproof gives kids the opportunity
to architect their own future by catalysing
entrepreneurial thinking and action.
We believe that entrepreneurship is a mechanism
for intervening in the poverty cycle that the
majority of our youth is caught up in.
YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT
IS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH
SOLUTION
The young adults in the 21st century are entering
a working world equipped with knowledge and
skills that are irrelevant for the workplace. This
coupled with a reduction in employment oppor-
tunities creates an increasingly hostile environ-
ment for new graduates to find work.
Futureproof equips kids with the ability not to
accept their current opportunities as their only
opportunities and create economic transforma-
tion.
TEACHERS NEED TO BE
DEVELOPED TO TEACH
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
SOLUTION
Futureproof harnesses active entrepreneurs to
teach the lessons and provide mentorship.
THE EDUCATION SYSTEM
IS BROKEN
SOLUTION
The education system used in South Africa
today is modeled on the industrial age where
the economies of the day required production
line workers that did not need the skills of
agility, critical thinking and creative prob-
lem-solving. The classroom of today does not
teach these skills or embed this behavior.
Futureproof educates young people from the
age of 9 to be entrepreneurially active using
proven methodologies of entrepreneurial edu-
cation from around the world.
ONE- SIDED APPROACH
SOLUTION
Although there may be a desire to equip kids
with the skills of entrepreneurship, many teach-
ers and parents feel underequipped to do so
and don’t even know where to start, particularly
when they aren’t entrepreneurs themselves.
Futureproof provides workshops and coaching
for parents and teachers to help support and
nurture the entrepreneurial child giving practi-
cal guidelines of how
to create an enterprising environment at home
and in the classroom.
THE CHALLENGES
That We Face
Even in the current CAPS curriculum, there is a
token time allocation to entrepreneurship but
there are very few teachers who have started
their own businesses and are unable to effec-
tively teach the mindset and the skills necessary.
WHAT MAKES US
Superheroes?
• What it means to be an
entrepreneur.
• The enterprising mindset.
• What customers are and where
to find them.
• Goal setting and time management.
• Adaptive leadership.
• Managing money in business.
• Creative problem solving.
• Lean business methodology and practice.
• Marketing.
Our programmes address
the following themes:
Using experienced entrepreneurs as coaches and
community young adults to overcome the barriers
to learning, we activate entrepreneurial thinking and
action. We not only teach the skills needed to start
and run a business but we build the behavioural
competencies which provide a strong foundation
for success.
This is done in face to face lessons supported
by online learning resources and the startup
starter kit.

• This entails our full 12 module program.

Note to Parents on Assessment and Reports:
The purpose of the ES reports and the assessments is to provide
realistic encouragement and feedback in order to give an accurate
perception of personal capabilities and feedback in order for learners
to grow and improve. The reports provide an overview of areas that
are currently being developed and the degree of effort required to
develop entrepreneurially, both in behaviour and in skills.
Entrepreneurial development is primarily concerned with
characteristics, attributes, behaviour and skills that underpin
high-performing entrepreneurial action. We do not focus on the theory
outside of practical application and prefer to see demonstration of
aptitude rather than an understanding of facts and knowledge.
Learners may not know the correct labels or business terms for
concepts but they are able to use them in relevant activities.
