7. LABORATORY INVESTIGATIONS
CBC (Complete Blood Count)
A blood screening test to help diagnose and manage
various diseases. It can reflect dehydration, blood loss,
anaemia or blood abnormalities, infections, and allergies.
Urine Analysis
A urine screening test is to check the overall Kidney
functions, urinary tract infections, diabetes or any
other kidney diseases.
Fasting Blood Sugar
A blood investigation to diagnose Diabetes
Postprandial Blood Sugar
A postprandial glucose test is a blood glucose test
that determines the amount of a type of sugar, called
glucose, in blood after a meal.
Liver Function Test
It is a group of blood tests that will evaluate the liver
function and can help diagnose multiple diseases
including fatty liver, hepatitis, cirrhosis, cancer and
gallbladder stones.
Renal Function Test
A combination of several tests which will evaluate the
kidney function and detect electrolyte imbalance.
Lipid Profile
A blood screening test to determine risk for heart
disease. It includes testing for total cholesterol, LDL,
HDL and Triglyceride.
PAP
It’s a smear of cells taken from the cervix to detect
abnormal cervical cells.
PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen, Serum)
Blood test to help screen for prostatic cancer or
prostatitis. The PSA test measures the level of PSA
in a man’s blood.
MEDICAL IMAGING
Chest X-Ray
An X-Ray picture of the chest to help detect lungs
and heart disease.
Ultrasound – Abdomen
Imaging procedure used to examine the internal
organs like the abdomen, the liver, gallbladder,
spleen, pancreas and kidneys.
Bone Mineral Densitometry
A bone mineral Densitometry (BMD) test measures
the density of minerals (such as calcium) in the bones.
This information is used to estimate the strength of
your bones.
Mammography
A mammogram is a special type of X-ray of the
breasts. Mammograms can show tumours long
before they can be felt. They are recommended for
women who have symptoms of breast cancer or
who have a high risk of the disease.
Breast Ultrasound
A breast ultrasound is used to see whether a breast
lump is filled with fluid (a cyst) or if it is a solid lump.
CARDIOPULMONARY
E.C.G (Electrocardiogram)
A useful test which records the rhythm and electrical
activity of the heart.
2D Echo
It is a test in which ultrasound is used to picture the
heart. It is capable of displaying a cross sectional
slice of the beating heart, including the chambers,
valves and the major blood vessels.
