OUR CLIENT
Our Client is the leading UK private label producer of premium cakes and
desserts and a major supplier of pastry products. With over seventy years of
baking tradition our client develops and produces one of the highest quality
ranges of cakes and desserts in the market.
Supplying almost exclusively to the leading UK grocery retailers, our client
manufactures in five key product categories: slab cake, mini bites, sponge
rolls, whole cake, and hot eating desserts and operates from two production
facilities in the North West of England:
THE DEVELOPMENT TECHNOLOGIST
The role holder will be a key member of the customer focused retail
innovation team. You will ensure all developments meet customer, legal and
food safety requirements and ensure all new products are transferred to
operations with agreed and documented process information and clear quality
standards. The Development Technologist will be managing a number of
customer-focused projects from brief to launch, to tight customer deadlines.
KEY ASPECTS OF THE ROLE
• Clarifying brief and conducting a feasibility study
• Ensuring all Food regulations and customer requires are met during every
stage of development
• Ensuring ingredients, process and product meets a Food Safety
requirements HACCP / PHA form
• Ensuring that a project critical path / task list is written and regularly
updated, and communicated to the project team and all relevant parties.
• Recipe development, product and packaging design.
• Running trials
• Agreeing and writing customer specifications with the NPD technical team
and supplying detailed information to the NPD technical team
• Agreeing and writing quality standards
• Agreeing and communicating cook validations
• Agreeing and signing off Artwork
2. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You will have the ability to plan, prioritize and organize your own tasks. You
should have the following skills / experience: • Degree or HND in a food related, applied science or engineering subject
• Proven experience in the food industry or equivalent relevant experience
and training
• Understanding of bakery technology
• Working knowledge of HACCP systems
• Proven project management skills
• Full driving license
• Proven knowledge of food industry (including equipment, equipment
suppliers, manufacturers, ingredients, ingredients supplier and centres of
excellence.
• The Ability to present conceptual and detailed information to a range of
audiences.
