2. What did I do for my FLEX project?
• I discussed with a group of second year
students the different types of IV solutions
and the types of tonicity (i.e hypotonic,
isotonic, hypertonic solutions)
• Together, we also discussed the uses and the
effects of these for patients on the
Orthopaedic unit
3. What motivated me to do this?
• When I was in 2nd year, I remember being
really nervous and intimidated with
everything that has to do with IV therapy.
With this project, I wanted to make them feel
more comfortable with their knowledge on
the different IV solutions.
4. Who was this project for?
• This project was for the 2nd year students who
have just started learning about IV therapy
and the different IV solutions
5. How did this project make a
difference?
• This project has made them understand IV
solutions and the types of tonicity better. As
per feedback, the students have said that my
visuals have made it easy for them to
differentiate one solution from another.
6. Would a 4th year student benefit from
this FLEX project?
• Definitely, I thought it was such an awesome
experience how I got to be part of their
learning process on this topic while helping
them realize that this isn’t as intimidating as it
sounds. It was also really good for me as I got
to refresh my knowledge on this especially if
on a surgical unit when it is used on a
everyday basis.
