2. Introduction
My music magazine will be primarily aimed at teenagers around the
ages of 15 to 20.
The genre for the magazine will be indie rock and focus on both solo
artists and groups.
Because I am aiming the magazine at teenagers I aim to make the
price of the magazine fairly low, purely because most don’t have
their own source of income like an adult would.
The magazine will cost around £2.50 - £3.00
It will be a monthly release
3. Target audience
The key target audience for the magazine is teenagers around the
age of 15 to 20.
The magazine will not tailor to one specific gender, but will be
slightly more appealing to the male audience.
The target audience will consist of people who are interested in the
indie rock genre and want to know more about the artists behind
the music.
The social class targeted towards the magazine will be middle to
high class as from research this is the key area of people who listen
to indie rock.
4. Name ideas
I want the name of the magazine to be something snappy and
memorable, here are a few ideas I came up with.
Indie
Volume
Tune
Volatile
Chemical
Based on peoples feedback and my personal preference I will probably
use ‘Indie’ as the name of my music magazine because it is the name that
has gotten the most interest and praise from people in my target market.
5. Advertising
I plan to advertise the magazine in a number of different ways but
focus more on the electronic side rather than the physical side of
advertising.
Website banners and online adverts will be the best way to reach
someone in my target audience as they are more technologically
advanced that any other kind of person
I will also use Facebook and Twitter accounts to advertise as those
kinds of platforms are perfect for sharing content from one person to
another.
6. Where will it be sold?
The magazine will be sold in all major supermarkets such as Tesco
and Morrison's due to their accessibility to everyone.
Online or electronic versions of the magazine is also a very strong
option due to the modern technology usage in my target market.
7. Why will people buy it?
The magazines USP (unique selling point) will be the fact that
includes detailed articles and interviews with the latest stars in the
indie rock world.
The interviews in the magazine will delve into artists pasts,
discovering their origins as artists and finding out what the future has
in store for them.
8. Publishing
I plan to publish my magazine with a big name publisher who
publishes magazines very similar to my one.
Some examples are…
Publisher of Q magazine
Publisher of NME
