1. Elements of a Good Essay
• Introduction - starts from talking of the “universe” and
filters into the film
• Thesis - is clear and explicitly stated with main points
– Example: “In the Movie, we learn that the three major
developments of the Atomic Theory are based Dalton, Rutherford
and Einstein’s theories.
• Body - includes logical data that directly supports thesis
• Conclusion - finishes by referencing the thesis, talks about
the universe and ends with a “call to action” or “poetic”
statement.
• Citations – All statements are qualified with proper citations
from your sources.
– Example: “According to the movie…, According to Wikipedia…”
